Title: Is Bittrex really this slow?
Post by: AtlasFound on August 22, 2017, 03:00:48 PM
Hey, everyone, I'm new to crypto trading and have been mainly using Bittrex. It seems fine so far, but it's so unbelievably slow to send bitcoin or other altcoins to and from my exodus wallet to the exchange.

In fact, was trying to trade this morning and sent bitcoin about 2 hours ago and it isn't even showing as a pending transaction yet in Bittrex.

It just seems extremely annoying that when I want to trade quickly it takes this long. Am I doing something wrong, or is Bittrex and all the transactions really that slow? Not sure if this is my impatience, or this is just par for the course?

What do you guys trade on?

First thing, bittrex is not slow and they will credit all valid deposits after certain confirmation from the network. Same goes for bitcoin and right now if you look at blockexplorer, blocks are not being mined in every 10 minutes that might have caused delay in getting confirmation in your deposit.

You should wait for atleast 2 confirmation in your bitcoin transaction before your bitcoin will be credited in bittrex account.

Hey, thank you for clarifying. I'm still green to this, and trying to wrap my head around it all.

That being said, what exchange/s do you trade on?

I still trade on Bittrex.  I had trouble withdrawing from Poloniex for a while and also read people's stories on the subject, so I decided to quit Poloniex as they're an extremely shady platform.  Smaller platforms can be good but most of them don't have good volume on anything but the biggest coins.

Personally I've always had a great user experience with Bittrex.  Crypto exchanges are never the best thing in the world but Bittrex has been good for me and withdrawals happen very quickly after going through security measures.

If I understand it correctly, Bittrex waits for one confirmation before they display your pending transaction, so it's about the Bitcoin network (or arguably about the fees you pay) rather than Bittrex.

Can confirm. Also the mempool has been bursting with unconfirmed transactions lately, so unless you pay quite a fee your transaction may take hours to get included in the next block. If you want to daytrade or react quickly on market moves it may make sense to keep a surplus of Bitcoin on Bittrex (although storing coins on exchanges is in general not a good idea).

I've been using Poloniex a lot and so far I luckily never had any trouble, but there have been a lot of complains by other people, so be wary.

Cryptopia seems to have an even wider array of alts than Bittrex, but they are rather small and I'm not quite sure what to make of them.

Kraken is slow as fuck and doesn't carry many alts, but apart from that they're pretty legit and may make sense for fiat trading (during the rare instances where the exchange is actually usable).

It is the normal speed. It is not the fault of Bittrex. It depends on the miners and the number of transactions. If lots of people are sending their coins, it will slow the network speed. That's why you can choose the transaction fees and increase it if you want it fast. But it will cost you more coins.

In bittrex it takes 6 confirmation to show the balance in your account and to use it for trading anything in the bittrex exchange.

Usually I deposit before I go to sleep and when I wake up the balance is credited and I'm ready to use it immediately.

I have a similar story with Bittrex. I am just a neophyte trader and I was looking at different trading platforms available for my picking but it is Bittrex where I found my home because it is so friendly to a newbie like me, it is not confusing to browse its nooks and crannies which is something I really like and of course I never had any problem with depositing and withdrawing my coins. Of course, it is not automatic and we know why it is not. I have all my appreciation and praise for Bittrex. The only thing I am wary is that Bittrex is based in USA and we know how the government can be acting in there.

You shouldn't worry about that mate, everything will be fine as long as bittrex will do all situations as fair as other sites, no one will turns out to failure as well. This a good choice for you as a neophyte trader of crypto currency, and I recommended that you should focus on digital currency; forget those stocks market and other trading platforms. Bittrex trading might sometime having slow transactions due to blockchain traffic but eventually the platform still a profitable compared with fiat stocks trading.

I am currently making trading at bitrex and yobit.net because these are two sites are much better for me .
Specially bitrex is better for me because i can handle at my mobile also( mobile responsive exchange ) .
But here i didn't faced earlier problem like this .
The main reason of the deposit to not show in the bitrex is because of the problem if confirmation .
From last two days , i am also facing the problem of confirmation much and still my transaction is not confirmed .
So here we can't blame bitrex for such types of the problem .
Make sure whether your transaction is confirmed or not because without confirmation no one exchange will show tue deposit amount of the btc .
From 2 days my many friends are facing the problem of the confirmation , So may be it is the problem of unconfirmation in the  network .
Pm me your btc adress , so that i can help you perfectly .

This is the second years I trade using Bttrex and so good, even sometimes slowly, my transaction is success. First, as a member, you need to check again your track ( ID transaction ). Second, open your email and see if there's notice from Bittrex. Third, contact their support to find out what happened with your transaction. After you do what should do please stay calm, don't panic because Bittrex is responsibility exchanger. Have a nice day.

Bittrex is slow in some cases but yes truly said that Bittrex is so amazing for the newbies. The beginners could have many problems and questions but Bittrex deal it in a better way than others. It is quite easy to operate with and gives you better results.

Yes. From my experience with bittrex sometimes valid transactions can not even show up in the pending deposits section until a good half an hour after the transaction was sent. And by the stage, the deposit will hit your balance anyways.

Yes, it is annoying. But you just have to deal with it. Almost all exchanges will have this delay issue, especially poloniex.

Are you sure that your deposits have gotten a confirmation at the time, though? If it is an unconfimed tx then bittrex may not recognize it yet.

Usually, no. When i deposit in bittrex it usually shows up on the pending deposit section in less than 1 minute. Sometimes i do get it after a long time but that really does not happen often at all.

This is weird, and you should talk to bittrex support about it. Markets move extremely fast and it really does no good that you have to wait for so much time before you can trade it. Instant transactions are supposed to be a main reason why people use cryptos.

Usually if it doesn't show up in pending it'll just go straight to your balance when it gets the required amount of confirmations. Have you gotten it into your balance yet?

I have found bittrex fast on deposits and withdraws.  Also the trading perfromance is decent with orders executing at a reasonable pace. What i dont like is the withdraw limits though, for anon accounts 0.025 is insanely low. I dont really want to hand of more ID docs to exchanges just for a little crypto to crypto trading.

Never had this sort of issue with bitter.

Yes, the deposit confirmation count are usually delayed by around 5 minutes especially when the blocks are going at a fast pace. It is by no means real time, however i have never seen anything like a 2 hour delay when the transaction can be seen on the blockchain with enough confirmations on it.

You should write to bittrex support to alert them about this, even if eventually you received your money. this could be a bug that is affecting other people as well.

As to what exchanges i use, mainly bittrex and poloniex, but more bittrex now since poloniex is having difficulties with their support.
