Title: Remove service announcements/service offers from newbie section Post by: Birdy on May 20, 2013, 06:38:23 PM I think service offers/new website announcements etc. shouldn't be allowed in the newbie section, because half of them are scam or malware trying to catch some new people that don't know how Bitcoins work yet/aren't that aware about malware stealing their coins yet.
(In short everything, where you have to send Bitcoins or download something from an not well known source) It gives our whole community a bad reputation when a lot of newbies are scammed their first Bitcoin. I try to post warnings in any threads where stuff looks sketchy, but it's hard to get them all. Removing them from the newbie section could make it easier. I would also group alt-coin announcement stuff into the same category of things that don't belong. The Mining United Scam was there for a month in that forum and a lot newbies did fall for it. |
