Title: Newbie needs help
Post by: Shova on August 23, 2017, 03:00:25 AM
It might sound crazy but I can't find my installed electrum wallet.
I used the windows 64 bit installer and successfully run the wallet and used the address.
Now the next time I don't find the exe file to launch.

I have a folder electrum_data with
Folder certs and wallets
and 4 other files.
Certs have 2 executables DOS but neither runs.

Hi, It's not a portable version and I have checked the Program Files.
I have backed up my seed and seems like it is the only way out now.

Have you installed it using the .msi or .exe? If its using the .msi, it will be located at the file location where you defined it at the start of location. AFAIK, there isn't a x64 installer, can you check your Program Files (x86)?

You can easily install it if you can't find it installed, just go to Control panel>Programs and Features. No restoration is required.

Sounds likely that you downloaded and ran the "standalone" executable... which one did you download from here: https://electrum.org/#download ?

If you just re-download the "windows installer" (https://download.electrum.org/2.9.3/electrum-2.9.3-setup.exe) and run that... it should go through a proper install and setup process and add Start menu items etc. NOTE: this will NOT overwrite your wallet etc but make sure you have the 12 word seed backed up!

You should then be able to start up Electrum and it will automatically use your current wallet
