Title: Another noob
Post by: enkidu78 on May 20, 2013, 08:57:18 PM
Just doing my bit to access the forum, I started mining a couple of months ago and have been reading but its time I posted here.

Currently im mining CNC, seemed like a good one to start with and BTC is impossible with GPU's.  Far too slow!

Of course there are a few big exchanges on the net... Also ASIC miners can't mine Scrypt coins only GPU's.

Welcome to bitcointalk :)  May I ask why you're mining CNC and not Litecoins, being that Litecoins are far more liquid and exchangeable?

It gets hidden by the formatting because there are so many pages in the newbie section. For me it got squashed way over on the right side of my screen. Of course, it sort of depends on your screen size and browser.

I just wanted to say while true that no ASIC (application specific integrated chips) have been created specifically for Scrypt, it is far from impossible. Just hasn't because highly lucrative yet. But it will. Scrypt is not completely defend-able vs efficient mining.

No its not impossible but scrypt is very memory intensive, I believe GPU's would be far better at mining them that some form of ASIC with memory.  Graphics cards have had years of evolution and billions of £ in reasearch to do exactly that.

We will wait and see but all I hope is ASIC burns and us GPU miners rule!

Welcome man,

I'd suggest mining scrypt cryptocurrencies since your GPU will be far more efficient in comparison to asics. You might see a small drop in performance (beyond the MH/s to KH/s), but the difficulty is far lower.

Hello Noob, me noob too!

I just started reading and researching about coins about a month ago.  I haven't purchased or set up any hardware yet but, I did set up a little page that shows a suggestion of which is the most profitable type of coin to mine and earnings with your current hashrate.
I'd love to get opinions of the site!  it's at http://www.WhereToMine.com (http://www.WhereToMine.com)

Basically, choose your currency, enter your hashrate, and click enter.

Let me know what you think! Thanks!
Kev

Another newbie here, figured I'd tag along rather than start new. At this point still reading docs, trying to decide if this is for me or not.
