Title: Newbie Lock
Post by: jamestown2035 on May 20, 2013, 09:22:47 PM
How long before I can actually ask a question in the pool I'm mining?  I've been a member for almost a month, yet I can't ask a simple question in the mining forums?  Seems pretty crazy, so I guess I'll post about garbage to get my 5 in.

It may be 10 posts I'm thinking.

Really? We need 10 posts? Doesn't that just encourage junk posts?

time to fill up some hard drive out there on the internet with meaningless bits.

The 5 post req is too high, imo.  With the 4 hours log time, seems like 0, 1, or 2 posts should be enough as proof against spam, etc.

So did I!
A friend of mine told me to mine litecoins and now I find lots of cool giveaways cannot post in!

I thought it was only 4 posts, must be more than that.  Anyone figure it out please let us all know.  Would love to join into the regular conversations.

I think it's 5 and then you have to ask to be freed on the whitelist request

It also takes 4 hours of login time, i guess.

It takes 4 hours logged in and 5 posts.  However it is not instantaneous when you get to that.  It will take some time for the server to update your status.  I'm not sure what it is, but it's not long.

it's been 36 minutes so far and I feel like I'm in solitary confinement here.

I've been lurking on the forums for a while.  Forgot the time requirement to get out of newbie land.  I wasn't logged in so all my time reading the forum didn't count.

According to the stickies it should be 5 posts + 4h and a script runs every 10min for promotions.

Obviously something of that is not true, as I have +5, and been a member for +7h :P

I don't think the system is always consistent - I made my 5th post weeks ago and was quite pleased with myself for becoming "unlocked" - today I log in to find out I'm locked again and my account only lists 4 posts :/

This. As for the automatic upgrading, it happens every 10 minutes on the 0. The script runs at 3:00, 3:10, 3:20, etc.
