a faucet is commonly used to refer to a tap or valve, in this case that starts and stops the flow of BTC :)

What information do I provide when I use a faucet? It's all in the blockchain anyway and I never say any faucet where I have to register with my home address. Well. Maybe for mapping IP/browser fingerprint to a BTC address, but you shouldn't reuse BTC addresses anyway.

Sounds like a waste of time.

Some faucets are funded by donations. Most are funded by ads. None of them will give you more than a token amount of bitcoins, maybe the equivalent of 1/2 penny per day.

You can, however, earn some bitcoins with relative ease from BitcoinGet (see signature) by watching videos or doing simple tasks. You don't need to provide any information other than your Bitcoin address.

Bitcoin faucets are for all intents and purposes dead right now.  They give you the equivalent of a digital penny, but it costs a digital quarter to send the payment.  It's just not worth the time.

Buy and sell your goods and services in the marketplace for BTC.

If you want freebies, go enter a bunch of online contests and if you win something sell it for BTC or convert the fiat to BTC

I signed a burner email address and wallet address up to aload of this sites and straight away i stared receiving so many spam/phishing emails to that burner account.

Alot of emails about people losing their password and need help, with download links to a so called wallet.

Yes,it is possible to occur problems like this and that contributes to the fact that faucets right now aren't worth trying so much.As well as a lot of other factors, too.

A BTC faucet is a donation run website that gives out BTC (very small amounts for free).  If you want the best ones out there I use http://coinreaper.com/  this site is a collection of 28 of the best BTC faucets and combines them all into one site for easy access, you enter your BTC address and then press the next button and then fill capctcha pics and get paid anywhere from 10uBTC to 60uBTC every 30minutes.   The best part is once you've completed running through all the faucets it takes you back to the main page where it has a timer count down for each site.  The money gets stored at another site and once you hit a certain amount it will automatically pay out to you BTC address.   Love it to death.

Message me if you want to know more sites like this, i've looked/researched and found several that pay even better.  Also for any BTC help for setting up an account or linking accounts to pools and using miner software don't hesitate to message me.

We've developed a brand new style of Bitcoin Fountain: https://www.pikapay.com/bitcoin-fountain (https://www.pikapay.com/bitcoin-fountain)

You can use it to help us in our goal to distribute as many BTC as possible -- quickly and freely -- to everyone in the world.

Please use it to get some free bits for yourself, your friends and family and to send to as many other people as you want.

Our only restriction -- at least for now -- is that you only send free bitcoin to both senders and recipients who are real, established Twitter IDs.

To use PikaPay's Magic Bitcoin Fountain at https://www.pikapay.com/bitcoin-fountain (https://www.pikapay.com/bitcoin-fountain) just follow these steps:

  • Just fill in the recipient's Twitter ID where it says, "Enter Twitter ID Here,"
  • Then select "REWARD,"
  • Then sign in, and then
  • Press "DONATE."

* The technology behind the Fountain is completely customizable.

* Sponsorship opportunities are available.

* Please spread the word about it wherever you can.

If you like this idea and want to contribute to the Bitcoin sponsorship pool or to the development of new features, here is the Fountain's Bitcoin address:

Our mission to distribute Bitcoin to every man, woman and child on the planet is now officially underway!

I was researching about faucets in this forum and I came across some new poker site that's giving out .4 bitcoins a week in a series of half-hourly freerolls, I've done some research about faucets and it seems like the consensus around the forum is that it has all but dried up. Perhaps this is another avenue for people to explore if they want to get into bitcoins. I know some gaming entities like to give out bitcoins through games of chance like slots, roulettes and lotteries, but this is poker we're talking about, which is a game of skill. The links are down below.

Yeah. Basically you fill the faucet and hope your ad income is going to make a little profit. I seriously doubt it's anything
substantial though, with maybe an exception for the largest faucets.

A site where you are given small amount of btc (satoshis) for solving captcha. Amount of satoshis depends from site to site also the ways you can earn them with. Also, faucets are not recommended as a way of profit (not saying that you can profit in some way, unless you own some big faucet) but as a starting point for the newbies.

Those, who says it's useless, has not mastered the art of using them and/or have enough money/btc to not have to use them. So they see it as a waste of time.

When the Bitcoin price dropped the payouts at faucets went UP. Some of the faucets pay out, up to 550 Satoshi per hour.

When the price of bitcoins was at it's strongest, faucets was worthless.

If this is the only way for you to get any income through BTC, you just have to bite the bullet, and drink from them.

They will not kill the thirst, but it will keep you alive. ^Doink...doink...doink...doink...^

Good description.

The hourly rate for solving faucet would probably be about 0.02$/h. Definitely a waste of time, and the faucets owners make conciderably more money off the visitor's back with the ads and possible scams.

With some faucets you can earn that bit every 20 minutes though, not like you're going to get rich but a good bit to start with.
Try Bitcoinz Faucet (http://bitcoin.eu5.org), you may win up to BTC0.00003 every 20 minutes.

Yes, but the amount you can get is very small.
Basically, the faucet owner earns some ad profit from your visits, and then share part of his ad profit with you.

Not really. I couldn't get satoshi sent to me.  I went to the site you suggested, and to the site upstream of this thread, and filled out the Capchcha, and saw the ads, and then got this: "150 satoshi was sent to your Microwallet.org account."

Not to the Bitcoin address I told them.  I don't want to open an account with Microwallet.org... what to do?  I have no BTC and the BTC I ordered is a week away...but beggars can't be choosers!

You don't need to open an account on microwallet.org.
You will get the payment in a few days to your personal address (the one you entered on faucets), as long as you have accumulated at least 5825 satoshi.
You can at any time click https://www.microwallet.org/?u=YourAddress to check how much you have accumulated.

I see.  When you solve the Capchcha's what is the purpose, I guess defeating the anti-bot provision?  And viewing the ads on the page is what they want you to see?

Edit-- too slow, it will take too long to get to their minimum limit to withdraw.

When you solve the Capchcha's what is the purpose, I guess defeating the anti-bot provision?  And viewing the ads on the page is what they want you to see?

Edit-- too slow, it will take too long to get to their minimum limit to withdraw.

Yes and yes.

If you get 150 satoshi every time, use 20 different sites, and click 10 times each site every day, you will just be able to get 30000 satoshi (=$0.1) a day. So you shouldn't waste your time on faucets.
