World coin seems to be doing good do to the fast confirmation times... You may want to go look at a couple exchanges (if that's one of your interest) to see what's being traded, then here is a link for difficulty comparison

My choices are Litecoin and PPCoin.

Litecoin because it's the second highest market cap, and brought something new to the table with harder to mine scrypt algorithm.

PPCoin because its the competitor for third that actually has a user interface, also has proof of stake which is an alternative to proof of work that i'd be lieing if I said I fully understoof.

They both seem to have motivated devs.

Ravin, if PPC coin breaks 5 bucks someday I'll celebrate by buying some cam time off ya.

I don't believe in gamesharking life by buying something I should have access because of simple human nature, so we'd wind up sitting there chatting about bitcoin for x amount of time, but I'd buy some cam time off ya :P

I said, nibble is a cute new currency ,https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=209035.0 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=209035.0)  - like your picture.

http://i1364.photobucket.com/albums/r726/digitalindustryNVC/Nyble_115withwordfont_blue_zpsba64d1f8.png

Its diff is currently 4. it was not pre-mined and looks to be going to exchange soon because the developer was a weird strange guy that didn't create it to just profit from, (so basically maybe he’s  a retard , we don't know? , but a very nice guy never-the-less)

to translate the rest Worldcoin will not get a listing on the ever popular exchange BTC-e becasue the "blockchain" will grow to a stupid size on account of its trans speed. just what i heard.

Every post in this thread is going to be biased based on what coin the poster has a stake in...(including this one, I suppose)

Personally, my coin of choice is DGC. It's not a revolutionary coin, but rather a refinement in just about every way of WDC. 20 second (DGC) vs 15 second (WDC) blocks greatly reduce orphan times (resulting in a more stable blockchain), while not compromising the instantaneous nature of transactions. Additionally, it is about 50% more secure with the recommended number of confirmations (5 20 sec blocks vs 4 15 sec blocks). Most importantly, though, it was not pre-mined at all, and the first 10K blocks or so had very low block rewards in order to prevent ultra-early adopters from hoarding coins (including the developer). This should lead to more stability down the line as there aren't early adopters with tens of thousands of coins who can flood the market and crash the price at a whim.

Last, the DGC developer is incredibly active. This is more unusual than it should be.

From a technological standpoint DGC is better than WDC in every way, it's just a shame that it got beat to the punch by a couple of days by WDC. Time will tell how this plays out.

there really is no recommended coin, mine everything and sell everything. Hold only when you see progress.

I support Feathercoin and Phenixcoin... both have full time developers and a lead PR and both are working diligently to get their coins utilized at more than just exchanges.

USCoin, we are backing and programming our own services and have 3 exchanges that will be accepting the coin. It will be backed by dollars once we get all the exchanges up.

Phenix coin is a good start, but you are already late unless you have crazy hardware, if you are average, join the UScoin community, the coin in fairly new and it seems to be progressing steadily.

I don't think she plans on mining, but expanding to accept other coins.

I think Netcoin is the only one with a real shot at becoming a big #3. Its still a ways away in development, but will be worth waiting for.
