Title: My failure experience with bitcoin
Post by: setifien19 on August 25, 2017, 08:41:07 PM
Hi bitcointalkers .
I made this poste to show the dark side within bitcoin .
Well, I saw many posts talking about success stories with this cryptocurrency , but no one talks about FAILURE in BTC .
For example : I knew bitcoin since it was 500 usd , I used to use faucets and collected some 0.01 BTC ( that time was worthless) I sold some If the amount to a SCMER on localbitcoin , I lost the big part on yobit , and the rest is still blocked on virwox .
This was my story with bitcoin , it's true that I did not pay attention , but failure can be reality with bitcoin.

Is it late to own bitcoins ? Since I can't neither buy nor invest ?
Any suggestion? Advice? Ideas ?

This question cannot be truly answered by anybody since there are way too many factors.

My opinion is that it is not too late because there are still so many new persons entering this market... this stream of people won´t stop for many months...

The people are going to invest in something and hence where the demand increases and the supply remains nearly the same --> Price goes high.

If you do try to read up threads on this forum for sure you will find lots of failure stories of people who did miss the chance of getting rich on bitcoin because they do have mistakenly sell out their coins on cheaper prices and didnt paid off attention while its still cheap. You are not the only having this regrets and im sure most people do really have the same experience too, you are not the only one.

You failed doesn't mean everyone fails. All one needs a complete knowledge before getting deep in buying / selling BTC.
You said you try selling on LocalBitcoins. Why you give shit about individual selling when exchanges are available in almost all countries. Also Yobit is legit exchange, I don't know how you stuck your amount there.
Thirdly, 0.01 BTC is not big deal to loose. You can still stand up and make much more than that in BTC world.

Can you pls tell more details about localbitcoins scam? I've been curious about  any possible problems with those escrow systems but haven't seen anything usefull on the forum. Thought whe worse thing is that your funds can freeze for a long time on escrow acc.

Months ago , I saw a person on localbitcoin buying bitcoin ( higher than the price average) , I sold some coins to this person , but he didn't send me anythingto my PayPal account...he was simply SCAMER .

- I sold some If the amount to a SCAMER on localbitcoin ,
- I lost the big part on yobit ,

- i gathered aluminum containers from the side of the road to sell and earn money
- i was mugged and the thief stole all my money,
- i invested my dollars in a shady business with fake promises and lost money,

do you think any of the things i said means dollar has failed or it is as you put it "dark side of dollar" or do you think i was naive?

I truly know how that feels and I feel your pains too but you cannot attribute your own mistakes and failures to Bitcoin. These failures/mistakes can be made even on a normal day, so who do you want to say is the cause? Now, one way or the other, we have all been there and there isn't anyone that has not lost some satoshis one way or the other due to our own negligence, but instead of sobbing, there is still chance to make it worthwhile. Don't also be quick to make some decisions, most especially if you do not have an idea what you are doing. Ask questions and that is why this forum is there in the first place.

You can't seriously black Bitcoin for your bad decision and mistakes. It is like you blame US Dollars because someone in New York would rob you.
How exactly it is Bitcoin fault that you trusted some scammer on Localbitcoin, failed at trading on Yobit and got banned/blocked on virvox?
I have no right to judge you and I wish the best for you, but if you would be a bit careful you still would have your whole BTC stash.

I lost .5 bitcoin in one of my old phones when it broke and i hadnt backed it up. It was pretty annoying back then but its even more annoying now that the price has gone up to what it has. I wont do it again though. You learn from your mistakes and plenty of people have lost a lot more than me. Most of these problems only happen through lack of knowledge though.

All what members said is true , they were exclusively my mistakes . But everyone should know that carefulness is highly required to be familiar with such crypto money .
Thanks for your encouragement, your advice and even your blaming 😉😉

you lost your bitcoins because you didn't pay attention what does bitcoin have to do with it ? i though this post was going to be something tech like you found something wrong in the bitcoin source code or something but all you can come up with is some trading mistakes ?

I was scammed twice and was hacked once but that's not due to bitcoins or a failure experience. It was because I was careless while dealing with scammers and on localbitcoins, you can get scammed anytime. I too got scammed by a localbitcoin user while I've never had an issue with Yobit or any other exchanges. Yobit has many issues with their crypto wallets and the coins listed there don't have a huge market which is the reason many end up losing. It's not something we can predict as the market of all cryptos is highly volatile and almost everyone has incurred losses at some point of time.

Did you sent your bitcoin straight to his adress avoiding the escrow system? I thought  it is nessecary for all localbitcoins transactions.
Also remember that PayPal is reversable and such offers might be a scam even if you get your funds after the deal.

These are your personal faults, if you were to ask me. If you don't be careful and get scammed on localbitcoin, and if you trust yobit garbage, this is your personal mistake. No need do complain here. Those have nothing to do with bitcoin's general image. Next time, you'll be stronger by taking lessons from your mistakes.

Its seems that you have gambled whatever bitcoin you have collected from faucets because you thought it is worthless. Even a satoshi might have price of over $1 in near future so your's 0.01 bitcoin is really huge amount and worth to be saved for future.

Yes everybody might have bad experiences with bitcoin like mine, I have lost over 0.20 bitcoin when price was around $300 in one ponzi because I never searched reviews of that ponzi scam

Do I read this correct that you all you have lost is 0.01 bitcoins? That is not that much money, not even at the current bitcoin price.
Maybe you can see it all from a different view: You paid about 40 dollars to learn ways on how to do things not.
One thing we all have to learn when we deal with bitcoins is how to handle setbacks.
The next part of succeeding with bitcoin is to find out how to handle things so that they work for you.

that is part of the life, but we cannot stop trading and investment to get money and lead a good life. i think while leading life we will certainly face all such strategies and will fight against it and only they we can become succeeded otherwise i do not think that there are any chances to become succeeded in life.

It's obvious he got paid for being reckless and in as much as I sympathize with him I still think it's part of the learning curve and so he should learn from it and correct his ways of dealing with potential scammers in future . Don't hurt yourself, but rather put yourself together and learn from it.

yes that is right that we should learn from our failures, as experience can only be get through this. i think those people who are so much succeeded in their job must have passed from the trial and errors phase and now they have too much experience in their relevant field and therefore they can now take a good and right decision on right time and are too much succeeded in their life.

After that I forgot about bitcoin and decided to go back just this year, and I was shocked that it costs a lot. Imagine how rich would I have been now. Stupid me!

This is why you really need to be technical when making decisions on what and what to invest in, because you don’t know which one is real and which one is fake so you really have to be enlightened else your ignorance will cost you more than you thought.

Im sorry to hear that. but we must realize that everything in this world has a risk. including in this bitcoin world.
the risk of failure can happen anytime. however, at least we can minimize the risk with various strategies and awareness in predicting or addressing the things that are in this bitcoin.
many people in this world are successful with having a tremendous background of failure. so my advice, keep the spirit and make this bitcoin world more useful.

my failure experience at bitcoin must be that i dont do trading when there is free stellar on 2015. also that i spend my BTC way too fast than i supposed to do, i dont invest bitcoin then use it. i used it when i wanted to, without any good reason to do that. so that is my biggest failure in bitcoin life.

Yes. I think almost all of us here almost get some bad failures in reality with bitcoin. Mine, I always failed here I have banned my account many times because of I love this forum before all I love is money but when time comes that I'm get paid $150 I already begin to take it seriously and seriously dealing with it. Until I love to make some post here until I realize that I love my job already, I love already this forum. Even if how many times I failed and cried because of my regrets on my bounty rewards here. But now I already learned about this, about on how to be wise enough to look on the future.

Well, I agree that its not too late to buy bitcoin and as of now the priceo of bitcoin was falling down and I think its an opportunty to buy a lot of bitcoin. In addition to that, if you can afford to buy bitcoin there are some ways to earn bitcoin like joining in signature campaign in bitcoin forum.

All the members are here verified. You should check the percentage before buying or selling any BTC . You can easily see the reviews of each buyer and seller and always for the trusted seller/ buyer even though his rate might be little low, but you wont be scammed.

I think if someone has no experience of something. it will be a taboo to discuss.

and for bitcoin, if we are involved in bitcoin, by indirectly increasing our experience for crypto. want it from profit, trading, niming, investment.

or otherwise, cheated, diblacklist, ico tires.
experience teach us something.

Bitcoin was not designed or intended to be an investment. It is a currency. Had you bought some bitcoin at $500 and spent it when the price went up a bit you would be in the right colored ink.

I have also failed a lot in doing lots of investments online, but in our failures or in our most difficult moments lie our greatest successes, I am happy with what I have been able to make on the bitcoin network today.

Yeah. You're right. We never heard about failure stories about bitcoin. I tell my story how it goes when I started believing on a ponzi schemes well I waste lots of money for that and always ending with scams failures. That's when I started to browse here and I found out that there is no easy on bitcoin it just that ponzi schemes takes all you're money by believing that you can get it back twice within days. That was may darker days of my bitcoin I waste lots of them not knowing I was fraud to it.

Bitcoin is a way to make profit along with knowledge gain. This sometimes goes out of our predictions causing failure, but one needs to trust that the price pumping is assured. Not only with bitcoin, everywhere when we experiment we get the output and from that can learn how to be successful and what needs to be done to overcome failures.

Did you sent your bitcoin straight to his adress avoiding the escrow system? I thought  it is nessecary for all localbitcoins transactions.
Also remember that PayPal is reversable and such offers might be a scam even if you get your funds after the deal.

A side note to Paypal, They do not offer Buyer protection for purchasing Bitcoins. That was my failure upon entering the bitcoin world, despite confirming with one of their agents ahead of time that I was covered. I did use my credit card through paypal, and as of right now they are offering Fraud protection, and I hope they don't come back and reverse that decision. They still have 2 months to decide, but as many have said I chocked it up to a lesson learned and realized that the fees through exchanges aren't so bad especially when compared to getting ripped off.

I failed on bitcoin investment way back late 2015 when the price of 1 bitcoin is worth 500usd, thats the time when I started bitcoin, no enough knowledge of inveatment scam the only thing I know that time is that bitcoin is legal but not aware of scams using bitcoin. I invested a total of 600usd in a hyip type of investment, I earned but due yo my greed I decided to reinvest it until the company shutdown their website and I lost my all my bitcoin.

I'm regret that since I first knew bitcoin in 2014 I did not buy much, then the price is not more than $ 120 and if I buy 1000 btc and I'm selling at the current price, of course I get a big profit.

I'm sorry for your loss.

I have also lost 0.05BTC on a bot which I can not get refund.

But it is life. You should not let small frustration defeat you.

Well we fail in almost every aspect in some point of our lives. Just think of failures as oppurtunities to learn. It's good to be reminded about  the threats in bitcoin world and I agree it is the reality.
Very well said! I will second you without having a second thought. I think failures are part of life. There is hardly any person who has never failed in his life. I think that one should learn from his mistakes so that he may not repeat the same mistakes in the future to avoid further loss. You should learn how to become better by learning from your experience.
