Title: Looking to buy bitcoins with paypal
Post by: ypc11 on June 22, 2011, 07:54:54 PM
I am looking for some sort of way to purchase bitcoins through paypal. It seems like every site I have looked at has shut down their paypal operations. I know it may not be the safest way, but I really do need to find a way to get bitcoins today. Does anybody have any suggestions or even sell bitcoins themselves? I am looking to buy $100USD worth.

BitMarket.eu allows trading with PayPal.

Careful potential traders:  before you deal with this guy, remember that buyers can use chargeback in paypal and claim that the BTC were never delivered.

OP, if you want to buy BTC, consider using another medium.

I'll buy something from you.  Silver is good.  But, I can't get you BTC today.

Edit: Unless I can be assured you have sent what you claim.  i.e. something from Amazon.com where I can get the tracking info.

Yes, dwolla is the name =)

For the newbies:  always be wary of paypal transactions.  This should be the first rule you learn when dealing with BTC.

Hasn't PayPal put a ban on bitcoin buying/selling due to the extremely high chargeback volumes? With chargebacks PayPal gets extra work and no money, meaning they would be pretty quick to freeze accounts dealing with it.

HOWEVER, since bitcoins are intangible/online goods you can claim it is intangible and win the dispute.

I think what paypal needs to do here is setup some kind of system that allows it to verify that the agreed upon number of coins were delivered to the address. Would that even be possible for them?

Nope, they can charge back as their account has been stolen.

why not just send money using your online bank?
chase, bofa, wellsfargo can all send money to anyone with an email address for free..
no fees on other side.
