My parent , especially my mom , she always tell me to stop doing bitcoin otherwise i will go to jail or doing bad things to social ! I don't get it ! Old generation seem very lack of experience in Bitcoin ! Why they keep telling us to stop when they even don't know how to check a simple email on ebay ! How to explain them guys ? 

Your parents are trying to protect you from yourself.

Maybe one thing you can do is share some of your earnings to your mom to prove that you really can generate income from this.
Or let her read related news regarding cryptocurrency and who are currently using and supporting this.
Maybe if she knows that even banks and known companies are now jumping into this, she will start to calm down and maybe have peace of mind when you're online & doing crypto transactions.

Your parents are trying to protect you. That said, the older generation are not as well versed in modern ways as we are. To a flaw, your parents will always think they know better, and while most of the time this is true, they do not see the times when they do not.

Imagine a 10 year old coming to you, and explaining that you should put all your money into sand because that's the new big thing. It's understandable to be weary of something you don't know, and try protect your loved ones

Try explain it in a way they can understand and show proof, logic and risk vs reward in numbers.

You can tell to your parents especially your mom that bitcoins is new revolution in currency be combined with new technology
bitcoins is not something illegal activity, with bitcoins we can get much beneficial on it ( we can stores values of money in bitcoins, we can to be freelancer on bitcoins and many other beneficial on bitcoins) you must explain about bitcoins to your parents slowly but continuous every days, i am sure they will support you to bitcoins.

Don't waste your time in convincing then as they may not really understand what you are doing. Anyway, you can do things even without the permission of your mother as she must not be following you all the time. She must just be concern and just giving you a warning based on what she heard as hearsay about Bitcoin. Just give her the understanding she needs and if later on you can make the money then maybe share it with the whole family. In every generation, there will always be that gap which just a natural phenomenon and nothing to be worried about.

Parents generally are skeptical on the things of the internet they prefer you going to the store to earn peanuts than for you stay behind the computer or smart phones to earn something big and its not their fault its because how people with low moral standard have bastardized the cyber space and that's why parents are like that. In my own case, I am not longer staying with them but I am sure if I am they would express the same fear.

   Parents knows whats better I guess. Living in old generation knows how important discipline is. We all know that nowadays kids and young adults can do anything that runs into there minds. Parents are just concerned. They care for you and just worried that you might get hurt basically because they fear the unknown. Earning in a young age of course might cause puzzles in their minds. You better make them feel that it is a good thing and not by being stubborn to make them see that it is bad for you. Good luck mate.

If your parents were computer engineers they would support you very much, even they would give you assistance, why? Because you will be speaking the same language as they will make it much easier for you to explain anything to them.

Now if your parents are not very educated, they are not people who like to read about all possible subjects, then you will have many problems.

My advice would be:

If you are under 18 years of age, then you must obey your parents and expect to be over 18 years of age and have your own home to enter the world of BTC.

This is sometimes what's wrong with parents today, if they do nit know something they would just tell you to stop, since they think they know all, but in reality when it comes to technology they have a blank mind. We as their children should teach them what we are doing or if they don't want to understand it, simply tell them not to get involved and in time to thank you, that as a young age you are already into earning money. Tell them that they have raised you well and they need not to worry, you will ask them for help, if you need it anyway. in some cases, you can also tell them to join you or just try earning online, you might be shocked they will also get hooked into it.

This is what I was writing in other thread : it is very hard to easily explain BTC to non engineer / geeks people. Explaining bitcoin requires you to explain many different topics : computer technology, open-source, finance, etc...

If i was you, I'll continue to try to educate my parents about BTC? Share them videos, blog posts, mainstream media news, etc...

Parents are afraid of what their child is doing in the internet, they are by nature over protective. But luckily my parents support me with Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, they even support me with trading and ask if I need extra money for capital.

its just a thought but maybe you are doing something wrong ;)
bitcoin is great and all but the anonymity it provides can be abused too. specially by someone underage. so you may need to think again about what you are doing with bitcoin and see if they are really not understanding bitcoin or they know "you" too well!

It's amazing that your mom has at least knowledge that there exists something called bitcoin and it's use might get you behind bars while there are people especially old ones who don't even know what bitcoin is but there it's your mom who knows it still you think it's lack of knowledge or experience? No, actually it's not lack of experience nor that of knowledge but actually your mom is ill informed and has misconceptions about bitcoin, just try to explain her in simple, understandable language that bitcoin is not illegal and no one can be put in jail only for using it, actually it depends on how you use it just like fiat those who use it for illegal activities get caught and get imprisoned but those who use it to make their lives better stays happy always so bitcoin is safe to use as long as you don't use it for crimes or any other illegal activity.

All the attention my parents have is from the media, which just shows the negative side of things. And since that is their only interaction with bitcoin, it is bad.

You just should explain it in a way they would understand or show some video online that lays it out well.

Doing bitcoin is not a bad thing, as long as you earn your profit from legal work such as signature campaign, trading, services etc. There are many reasons why your mother wants to stop you from doing bitcoins.

1. She's trying to protect you from some scams or whatsoever.
2. She doesn't have enough knowledge about digital currey.
3. She learned bitcoin in a wrong way, maybe she knows that bitcoin is used to buy illegal things.

But for me as long as you work for it or it doesn't affect other people it's not bad. Also bitcoin is giving other persons or unemployed a opportunity to earn themselves.

Most of the parents heard the news about ransomware and how Bitcoin being used to support terrorists, they only heard the negative news because the media only publish and focus on how bad the bad people using the bitcoin, so it's not their fault, they just want to protect you because they don't understand about Bitcoin, after they know the real usage they will support you to used bitcoin

I dont think doing or trade bitcoins can bring jail or doing bad things to social.
Maybe old generations think that because bitcoins its virtual money, its not like gold, and they dont trust on it

Secondly, You can prove her by showing her your working , your earning by bitcoin ! Use your money in your daily life and don't ask your mom her money anymore ! She will understand you ! Imagine a young little boy come up and ask to be a president , people will laugh at him , right ? They still think you are not responsible enough to handle these bitcoin ! Change your life-style , prove to them that they are wrong !

Hahaha this is the typical reactions of the elders, it's just not your mom, it's a reaction I have seen many elders do. Initially even my parents were not convinced, but then I showed them growth, and how no one will ever know I own it then they allowed me. Maybe your mom has read some articles that say it's not legal, or your country has not accepted it. You need to convince her that even if it's not legal, no one can know you own it and that it has tremendous potential, best is buy her something out of the profit and don't mind, continue owning Bitcoins.

Tell your parents that bitcoin is a not bed thing it is a very best thing and very intrasting and tell your parents especially your mom bitcoin is a new

Its just funny how they usually react, just like wife also before, she told me I would go to the jail and be in prison because I was doing some illegal activity in the internet. It doesn't make me mad at her because I knew she was just concern about our family then, but as time pass by it took me hard to explain but every single moment I try to tell and convince her about bitcoin, and now she is letting me do what I want but she told me one of her conditions, that is only to remember my priorities, and that was our family and specially her.

Explain to our parents clearly what we do on the internet is positive and does not do bad things.

You are so lucky, you had a concerned parent like them. You have to know why they are afraid of bitcoin. Maybe you gave too much time to bitcoin and you neglect your school study and don't have any physical and social activities going on in your life. So by just talking to them maybe will not work. You have to show to them, the positive contribution of bitcoin in your life.

There's a pretty high chance that she is right, despite whatever the echo chamber here is opting to tell you.

There is a point where making money online is bad for you, and if you're dedicated solely to making money off of online websites and other similar services, you will have a pretty high chance of losing your social life if you aren't out and actively involving yourself in other things. She's not right when it comes to the jail part, but your social life may very well suffer.

You should also realize that the older generations have a lot more experience than you do, and as such they do have advice which can be very useful. Of course, if you want to disregard them just because you think you know better, then do whatever. History will be doomed to repeat itself.

Because they are avoided by the bad things you do on the Internet. Probably they say it's because they want to avoid playing computer games that really are addictive. But because they do not know what we are doing and do not know that we are paying for it. Sometimes you also treat your mom to find out what you are doing on the internet so she will be happy with you.

Do not pursue explanations. They need proof, and you should be able to prove that you can succeed with MMO and bitcoin.

Must be she saw something negative about bitcoin on TV and I believe it really was so, cause of I have heard a lot of negative on TV about bitcoin already. I think you should explain her that bitcoin is the best opportunity to earn today. My mom is very proud of me that I could find such source of money making on the net without working in a dusty office for some stupid boss.

I am lucky because my mom is really supportive to my online job and I am happy also because she is now interested to the bitcoin and I know that she will also enter to the cryptocurrency world and work also here.

Like what you've said, maybe your parents are stuck on the old ways. They didn't tried to adapt to new system instead they're against on it. It's really hard to explain or to defend yourself if the person you are talking to is a close minded type. Before your conversation started for sure they already have negative thought and will try to let you down. I've been into that situation before, What I did is at first I ignored my dad's allegations and after I received my first payment I withdraw it and showed him where it came from and From that day on, I never heard my dad complaining about Bitcoin. Let Bitcoin talk and never argue.

Maybe they have encountered bad things regarding bitcoin and they have seen bitcoin as illegal because of the way you earn bitcoin, it is just surging upward and this type of knowledge haven't been past on to their mind that is possible, you can not blame them if the way they think towards bitcoin is very different, you simply don't go to college to just lock the door and earn with your PC  or buy a bunch of miners to earn for you I think  they are thinking that you should get a job just like an ordinary citizen and hope you get paid correctly because of it.

Old generation is institutionalized by the fiat/banking system. Bitcoin is a bit technologically advanced for them to understand and psychologically what we don't understand, we don't approve of.

Maybe in the next 15 to 20 years it would be much easy to explain bitcoin and bitcoin technology. Right now it's a bit tough, but still you can explain it to your mom that using bitcoin and going to jail or doing bad things to social/your social life/society isn't the same. In a way I can understand your parents. They probably think your only story should be school and education and not making money. Obviously they don't much about cryptocurrencies and Bitcoin but they have probably heard some bad stories abou scams, money laundering and dark markets so like majority of parents they think of worst first.
Try to talk to them and convince that you are not doing something illegal. Some good articles and videos about Bitcoin might also help.

The problem is their parents think that involving in Bitcoin is involving in illegal activity.  And sharing earning to his mom will definitely raise a red flag.  Best is to explain it to her in a slow agonizing phase  ;D.  Since there will be lots of rebuttal and rejections from his mom.  Do not worry once he explained it well and made his mom realized that Bitcoin is legit then his mom will allow him to get involved in Bitcoin.  I was once there, and now I am good to go with Bitcoin.

Exactly. Your parents probably think Bitcoin is dirty or something, like it is only used for drugs, guns and other illegal things. The reality is it is far more than that now. Everyone uses Bitcoin and it will only get more widespread and mainstream as time goes on.

Usually this problem is social one generally in tier 3 countries where people are still very conservative about money and earnings.
I was surprised to read that in most of the tier 3 countries people are even afraid to invest in stocks and better rely on banking means like Fixed Deposits, etc. Such conventional thinking restricts people to see earning possibility over internet.
But no worries, with time being everything sheds. Show your earnings on floor, pay taxes if you earn that much, you will soon get into good eyes of your parents.

At some point you must do what you feel or know is right for YOU. You should also obey your parents, but when they tell you to do something you know is wrong then you need to follow your heart.

That's how most of the older people are, my parents were somewhat the same as yours whwn ive told them about bitcoin. First they thought it was a scam and then some shady buainesses. Now, theyve changed their minds conpletely. I mean, what can i tell you when they refused to buy things online via cred card in fear of their money being stolen

The funny part about this is in the near future his parents will wish they listened to him and invested in Bitcoin because he will be rich and they will be poor! ;D

some might say that you're bad for disobeying your parents but i also think that theres always a limitation on how much you can obey. i think op is just a teen like me so my advice

is making your own decisions is part of growing up so don't be afraid, our parents are there to only guide us so talk to them. but first plan the whole approach thing. i also think that

a proper explanation will work on this. if bitcoin is legalized in your country you might start with that but if not start with the basic concept of money where all kind can be used for

Seriously though, if you have proven that you can help your parents in anyway you can and show that you are not just in front of your PC wasting time then they probably believe you. If you're under the age of 18 it would be wise to listen to your parents, even if their views are wrong, they take care of you and provide for  you. The next best thing really is to save the money you would invest in a savings account until you're 18 - then you're free to do as you please.

This really proves that a lot of members here are still kids or young who still stay with their parents. I'm not against it, what I'm saying is that bitcoin has really far reaching effects that even the young has found it a good way to earn money. I myself is a parent, but I'm more of a techie guy so if I know that my kids are earning money online I would be cool with that.  ;D. Even my youngest kid are uploading video's on YouTube about his game exploit and he said that he already has like 100 views, so I encourage him and maybe someday we can monetized it.


That way I see things is that your mom is an old school and she doesn't know about anything specially money making methods around the internet. Its called generation gap. The best thing to do is not to argue with your mom but tell her that what you are doing, specially about bitcoin is not illegal and not bad at all and actually you can earn a decent money that can really help you financially and there will be a time that you will not ask her for money because you are already earning some. My family is ok about everything. For them it's more important that I have found a way to earn some extra money to my salary and they are happy with that.

This is a situation normally, in past time I also had received many warning from my parents like your said. But I ignore all their warning and working hard everyday for prove the way I choose is right. Final, in today although they still don't know the job I'm working at here, but they accepted my job :)

There are still many parents who have conventional thought. For them, the job is when we set off in the morning and return in the afternoon and get a reward at the end or beginning of the month, no more and no less. They still think that any money we get without doing the above things is not the result of a job. It is our responsibly to try to change their old thoughts. Fortunately, there are some lucky people who able to collect money and become rich and famous throught internet and they oftenly show on the telly. Your parents know what the media tell them. They heard about some people going to jail because of bitcoin and they are scared you'll end up like them. The only way is to keep doing what you like and maybe, eventually, your parents will give up.

Listen to your parents. Unless you are making many, many times the going rate for MMO clickwork, you are being exploited and wasting your time. Yours is a market saturated with workers; and unless you are playing an RCE game (namely, Planet Calypso) then your returns most likely arent worth it. Get a job, brospeh. I seriously dont know what you are getting paid, nor do I know what your standard of living is, but like the most basic job you can get (flipping burgers, throwing papers, cutting grass, fuck man, digging a ditch) should net you more per hour than what you are getting now. If you are going to play an mmo, play it for fun. Not for profit. You are beating a dead horse with this idea, and following a dead end path.

If you like playing games for money however, look up Real Cash Economy games. There arent alot. But this is how you make money from playing a game.

Parents are born to protect their child. Maybe your parents understanding on bitcoin is not wide enough. They think it will only brings you harm, because we knew there are a lot of fake/scam jobs online and your parents is trying to protect you from those that they doesn't knew it wasn't.

The only solution is that show them some proof that it was legitimate and doesn't cause harm.

This is basically because of less experience and knowledge about bitcoin. Parents think that their children are doing a wrong thing and they are earning by wrong way. This need to be upgraded. We should tell and give the knowledge about bitcoin to them. They try and want to protect their kid from scams etc. we need to tell them that this is a proper and trustworthy way by, giving them our earnings.

I have experienced something similar when I was teenager few years ago. They didn't looked into bitcoin seriously and were thinking that bitcoin is something similar like game currency. Later they heard some negative news related to bitcoin and adviced to stay away from it. I also tried to explain how I'm earning bitcoins, but they said, why anyone would pay money for me. And they believed that I'm doing something illegal to earn btc.
I understand parents, they acting in this way due to lack of knowledge. Also, they want to protect kids from possible risks.
What you can do? As adviced in previous posts - use bitcoin in your daily life, don't ask money from parents and then maybe they will change their attitued towards bitcoin earning.

As long as your not letting your studies off then parent's should not be worry. Unless you had failing grades then better  focus more on studying. Or maybe your family thinks that they can sustain your needs.

Yes it is true that no parent wants their child to fail in their life they always want the best, and they think they are still able to meet your needs so focus on your school or with your family, and if you can convince and prove that bitcoin will not disturb the school and your family I am sure they will understand, so do not hate your parents because they will always love you.  ;D

Your parents have the intention to protect you, and it seems they have negative ideas about crypto currencies, or just they igoner anything about this currencies. Talk with them and show them some examples of successful people creating wealth with Bitcoin in legal ways, there is a lot of examples in Internet.

well honestly, your mom have a knowledge about bitcoin but dont really understand its other function and purpose. One thing your mom really protect you by your own self [LOL] but seriously if you earn using MMO and in bitcoin share it to your family then explain it to them. Some old bloods are really traditionist interms of earning, job work and profession. just present them how it works the benefits you get from doing such things and sooner or later they will understand and accept what you are doing. bitcoin is make not the purpose of illegal doing, if you harm someone or your self it is your actionthat brings you behind the bars and not bitcoin.

They don't believe you until you share your earnings or maybe bitcoins is illegal in your country and your mom is trying to protect from going to jail. Not all people are aware of bitcoins and they think it is illegal because the government don't control it, the best way to do is explain it in a simple way try to get a book that relates bitcoin and make them to read it maybe they will understand what are the benefits of it.

They will not agree with that making money online because most of the parents only think that online stuffs are scams and it doesn't give good benefits to us because they always believe that making money is always done in hard work and not working smart. We just need to understand them and adjust ourselves because they are already old but it doesn't mean that we need to stop working on bitcoin.

That's what all they say when they see it on first impression but actually when you earn and you share some of your earnings, show some evidences that you earn through bitcoin and you have some things buy because of bitcoin the probability is that your mom might trust or agree to MMO. That's my mom also when I always at the laptop screen at half or all day and not even going outside but when I bought a new phone because of it, she said to me "work for me also for my new phone". They think that using internet can scam their child and doesnt think of what they are doing. Even my parents wanted me not to over use most computer daily and they dont believe that I can earn money. Somehow I do understand them they only wants to protect their child.

This scenario seems the same with what I have before. My mother thought that Bitcoin is illegal thus making money thru BTC is also illegal. The only way that she believed in what I'm saying is by comparing it to stocks market. She knows something about stock market so she somehow understood it. And the fact that I'm giving her money out of BTC just convinced her more about it.  ;D

Your parents are a good person, especially your mother, because they're about to meditate you, does not mean to forbid you to make money yourself, but she does not want you to get into a bad virtual world, you should be able to explain thoroughly what bitcoin, ico project, And bounty campaign, because we are here working, hopefully can help

your mom are concern about your behavior coz she know you better that anyone hahaha. but you know old souls are not that into technology. maybe you should show her your earnings and share it how you earn that money. introduce them into the net and maybe they will understand you and regarding about going to jail, you mom have bad or negative impression in bitcoin. but honestly bitcoin is not bad or illegal... it is the person using it.

I recommend you dude to not to listen to your parents. Bitcoining is not bad and of course it will not lead you to jail just like your mom was saying. Just make them see your money when you make one :D. Do it using your action not by words.

It is because parents just love their children too much, they may be wrong sometimes or express their love the wrong way, but in the end, the reason for everything they do is purely love for their sons and daughters. And maybe your mom saw too much news about people getting caught doing scams on the internet. That is why, she is warning you on what you are doing because she cares for you. But that is just because she doesn't understand what you are doing yet and earning money by just sitting and looking at a computer seems a bit too good to be true for her because maybe she hasn't encountered someone who did it in her younger years to this day. So i think you have to understand you mother and be patient in explaining everything to her. You are lucky to still have her by your side caring for you. Dude, I tottally misunderstood the OP the first time I read this. I thought he was talking about farming gold in an MMO, like WOW or Everquest. Hilariously, everything I said still stands completely true. Unless you have an obviously legit, decent paying job online (there really arent alot, most jobs that can be completed remotely can be completed by almost anyone with the proper lang/math skills). You will get so much more value simply working a real job, and your parents wont give you shit because they see you wasting away in front of a computer. Heres a test; if you can make minimum wage online, adjusted for your time, you should probably explain to your parents in more detail what you are doing. They will understand, because min wage at home is more efficient tan the same wage out of the house. If you can't make that much, go get a job, dammit. it will save you so much time.

I agree with this. I am a mother too and I truly understand how she is protecting you right now.With lots of scamming nowadays, it's not always easy to trust. Mother knows best but sometimes they just lack information so you have to explain bitcoin to her and show her the benefits about it. Just make sure you are not compromising your studies.

I think the reason why they dont trust it, is the lack of knowledge the old generations has sticked to the tradition that you can't find money if you wont work for a real company job and there are some mis-interpretation about bitcoin that people think that using it is bad and will make you a criminal. That happened with me, but were my wife and his brother and my friends saying i should be making such, bitcoin were worthing 800-900 dollars, this year we all know the value of bitcoin, and now their visions changed a lot, my wife is getting more interested about crypto world, but she still saying i can go jail, even when im not doing nothing, besides earn money online, something i had tryed for several years.

All parents are protective. But you can explain to them in a nice and respectful way. I also know someone, from the day this someone started to sit down on the computer and made the process his parents never stopped discouraging him and nagging and never stopped being negative. Right on the target! There is a huge technology gap between the old generation and the new one. Our parents or elders find the new ways somehow troublesome and most of the time, I find this expression of fear on their faces when they discover a new item, which makes me giggle every time. Just explain to them what bitcoin is. Is using bitcoin in your country is prohibited? If not, then don't mind them. Sometimes they'd just being skeptical because of what they see on news about bitcoin. You know, parents are  very protective. Thats their nature. That is what we called a "mother's love". She is only concern to you. Maybe she lacks knowledge about Bitcoin and all she know is that it is being use by some criminals in the deep web for their transaction. I must agree, The whole point of the parents on being strict about joining Bitcoin is to protect you (even though you're anonymous in this industry) showing your earning won't help, hence it will only trigger them to force you to stop doing it. To OP, Try asking your parents on why they're against Bitcoin. Maybe that you've done before on the social media that caught their attention. Parents do have their own explanation for that, Just try to clarify it.

Correct, the times have changed a lot, the world of fifty years ago is not the same as our world, you cannot work any longer for the same company for 40 years, you are lucky if you work 3 years in the same job.

It drives me crazy that people are so inept at reasoning that their logic pretty much goes, "if the government or my peer groups say something is okay then it is. If they don't it must be satan." Honestly, by their logic using dollar bills should be illegal because some people use them to do illegal things. I don't think that would solve the problem. A dealer can show the money he earned from drug trafficking but that would give his parents peace of mind would it? The mother thinks bitcoin is illegal and can result in her son getting locked up in jail. She needs to be educated but a step at a time because for older people it's harder to fully learn new things. Well, your parents are just trying to prevent you from being arrested as an internet scammer, we are all aware of this increasing trend by which fraudsters forges people banking details and transfer money into their account or fraudulently purchase goods online, you just have to convince your parents that you are involved in bitcoin is not a scam and shows them evidences to back up your claims.

That is a good way to convince your parents and i will do that after i withdraw my cash next week. I want to convince them that bitcoin and the things that i do like trading is not a scam and it is not harmful to do. I think our parents are just worried about us, it's just that they seem to be unable to make money on the Internet. They found the time of the pyramids and the MMM, and this negatively affected their attitude to earning on the Internet. My parents learned about bitcoin in 2015, when it cost 200 $ +, when in 2016 it cost 700+ my father bought himself a few bitcoins. And now he is happy!  :D

What they're worried is not the price or how we earn this digital currencies but how will it affect in our early lives especially the young people who are still in the school. I don't think that there is something wrong with that thinking of some of the students. Well, sometimes our moms are over reacting in what we're doing. Maybe they're just want us to protect from the danger of using the internet nowadays. I don't trouble my parents with my ways of earning. I am providing them enough money to enjoy their time the way they want so why bothering the explanation of my job. I consider earning BTC a job without boss. If they ever ask me, I simply say "So far I haven't done anything wrong so chill..".

Well parents are naturally protective , even in little things. And i can say, maybe they thinking you're doing illegal because they didn't know what kind or where the money really came from. Explain them that Bitcoin is a crypto asset. Its just like a normal asset in stockmarket. And its NOT ILLEGAL. Show them from the CNN website, BLoomberg ,etc. that Bitcoin is being traded internationally just like other commodity. Show them proofs, withdraw some of your Bitcoin moneys and treat them.

the fact of the matter is that, unless you are a pretty competent kid programmer, not being old means not having job experience, which translates to a lowered salary cap. since you cant really make significant money online unless you live in an economically depressed area, unless you have a decent resume, its a waste of time. there is no problem with spending your time earning money, your free time, that is. but spending time earning money in the real world (having a job, or going to school to ensure your future value) ensures that you will have more value to invest in bitcoin. so if you really love bitcoin, you should be looking at all sources of value, not just cryptos :)

I think you generalized your situation too much. It is better tou have put "My parents" on the tittle, because I don't have any idea of any matured people stopping they're children to earned money online. It might that you were so dependent to them even when investing and asked money for it. She's just being what moms always do - be protective of their children. Surely, she and your other family members just wanted what is best for you which is for you to be safe. Me and my brother are both engaged in bitcoin. And whenever we will try to open the subject to the family since we wanted to educate our siblings about cryptocurrencies our mother would also say the same thing. She tells us to stop whatever we are doing because we mght go in jail for that. Her reasons for stopping us are pretty obvious, she just wanted to protect us because she cared for us, she doesnt want anything bad to happen to her children. And this is the reason why we kept on convincing her that bitcoin is not bad. But i dont think we can convince her anymore, people of yesterday are simply contented of what they have and this makes them not want to venture on new things like bitcoin.

That is how your normally parents would react to new things especially things that are found on the internet. Parents would normally think that MMOs (as what you say it) are things with a catch in which you need to do first in order to earn or they will see it as something as too good to be true where they will see it as a likely scam. You need concrete proofs and evidences of your earnings to justify that what you are doing is not illegal. How? Explain them first what Bitcoin is, how it works, and the technology behind it. Explain it to them briefly so that their minds will be open and maybe trey will consider you to invest your time and money to it. They want you to stop because they don't know what bitcoin is, and of course they want to protect you from any harm. I myself explained it to my parents and they are fine with it.

The reason for this is because parentd just wanted to protect their children.  There lots of dangerous things online,  and if you have parents who are not that into internet,  seems to me that they lack knowlefge about esrning online and all they think is its all illegal.  You got a lot of explaining to your parents to convince them otherwise.

Its very usual that old generation cannot adapt to changes and improvements on our society. they are afraid of uncertainty. Bitcoin and Crypto is new to them. They tend to stick to what they already know and established like golds and paper money. Most BTC enthusiast are young generations.

Technology has really evolved in leaps and bounds for last two decades. Honestly, even kids are now smarter than the young ones. So we cannot say anything to our parents if they find new technology concepts a little difficult to understand. Moreover, their first priority is our safety. At least we have parents who are here to scold us.

well you only need to explain to your parent that bitcoin is not illegal maybe in their times bicoin is not really legal and maybe it's a scam thing when they we're at our age but surely they will understand it if you explain to them clearly what bitcoin is and the benefit of it to you.

You cannot blame them! ;D They cannot really be as informed as you are and I believe a time will come that you may end up not being as informed as your children too when it comes to technology. That is technology adaptation and it fades very fast with age. Apparently, they must have heard a lot about online scams which is quite rampant and they already have a fixed mindset that anything that has to do with online is scam. You know what is right, so just stick to it.

You should ask them why they said those things to you. Maybe they have past experiences with regards to making money online and not became successful    or something unpleasant happened to them. If there is then it is time to enlightened them on what you are doing now(though almost the same) is not as the same of what they are doing previously.

you are in difficult situations that i ever feel, this case also have happened to me since several moments ago  while i just could earn some dollars in bitcoin by this forum. my parents advice to me to left unreal job instead of go to real job. i tried to proof them by my income with bitcoin and bitcoin is legitimate currency. my parents is lack of technology knowledge but they understanding towards me and they are allowing me to fully jobs in bitcoin now !

There was this local news item that went around about a kid who was scolded for playing online too much at a cafe, and then he retorted saying that kids these days earn millions of dollars for playing online. Parents put him in a local tournament, he didn't win. They showed him he wasn't good enough for small town, so forget the millions. Asians :)

I think its normal for a parents to protect their kids and i think we as young generations need to educate older generation that time is changing, and soon enough digital evolution will become global. Bitcoin is not yet legal in all country. Maybe your country is one of those country. Meaning,  what you are doing is illegal, it may one of your parents reason. It's normal. They're just protecting you from harm. Parents will always be protective to their children. Maybe you can show them that Bitcoin really change your life for better. It is hard to tell someone about something that they are not interested to look into it. Try to show them some articles or news about Bitcoin. Either me will be hesitant and doubtful about Bitcoin, because it's new to my ears. But when someone will show me proof or something that will help me realize that Bitcoin is not illegal or scam, I will believe him/her somehow.

It only means that they are protecting you. It is their duty as your parents. They don't understand what bitcoin is and even you explained it to them they will not understand it. It does not even exist at their time . to be honest, my mother does not fully understand facebook. Yes she has an account but she only knew to send message and read post. honestly, old generation sometimes gets a little bit rude as they try to stop us from accessing the stuff which they do not understand. its like google is an alien communication system and if we type something in it then we will become bad. in addition to it, it is true that internet exposes us to many pornographic contents and many more dangerous information which they do not want us to know about.they are just trying to protect us. so all you have to do is clear their droughts when they blame you on something.

This is calling as generation impact. 10 Years back, I also faced to the same situation. Not only parents but also my old family members advised me that don't do it (MMO) because it's not a reliable income source. My parents know that I was earning online and they have nothing against it especially in bitcoin. It is very beneficial to our family especially in financial aspects. Maybe it's a matter of how you explain and do your job to your parents. As a child, you must atleast give your parents a part of you salary or if not, you can treat them sometime.

Actually, depending what he is doing with Bitcoins can put him on the jail. In some countries Ponzi businesses aren't allowed and those who join these schemes can have problems with the law. And we know it's very common on Bitcoin world to join Ponzi and HYIP schemes, especially newbies who are starting their journey here. Maybe there are some other activities forbidden also in some countries that are common on the internet with Bitcoins.

Better  if you are going to explain to your mom the meaning of bitcoin so it will not be hard for her to think of what are you doing all the time you are in computer, explain how things work with it and how money generates and how did you get it. Oh yeah! For me, this is also a very important topic. My parents are very fond of watching news on TV and simply absorbing everything that they say. About the fact that Bitcoin is a bubble, that Jews have predestined him, who rule the world, that soon everything will burst and I will lose all my money. The lack of knowledge sometimes creates fear. I have the same situation but the one who is not OK with me using bitcoin and working online is my father. He always insist that Having a stable job like doing office or physical work is far more better than sitting in the front of computer for hours and without knowing whether I am going paid or not since I cannot see the employer my self. Well If your parent is old and not used to technology that is likely what they think. What I did is explain to them about my job and what bitcoin is. Why people are using it and its benefits. I also explained to them the risk involved when using bitcoins. And the most important part is that let them see that you really know what you are doing for them to have peace of mind. It will be good for you if you will explain to them what you are doing. Discuss to them why are you doing that kind of thing and maybe they will understand you. If they still tell you to stop doing what youre doing, maybe just obey your parents. You can continue what youre doing when youre already old enough.

Bitcoin has a very bad reputation among those who don't really know what it is. This also make things difficult when it comes to explain it to people. Media is working really hard for making it look bad and kind of criminal. I guess no need to mention that there are some people behind this propaganda. Try to talk to your parents and explain them rather the idea behind Bitcoin instead of the technical aspects. It might help.

yes they though that i was playing games even im really old enough, games are different from earning bitcoins and trading them its just that our parents really is having a hard time adopting to our current world because in their time digitalization in not existing and books and newspapers is enough for them to satisfy their search for wisdom and things to be learned

Guess I am just young at heart, but I'm loving making excellent extra income from crypto.  I don't know, maybe reinforce to them that BTC isn't inherently evil.  I was shocked, no offense to my own Mom, that she thought the US was still on the gold standard, so, you never know where people are coming from.

Parents may do this to protect their children. They may think that teens earning a lot of money is prone to buying dangerous things like drugs and others. But for me as a parent, I dont really object to that, I think it is better for my kids to start to learn earning in their own rather than asking money from their parents.

You couldn't blame them entirely, my dad was rather skeptical when i say i make some good amount of money from Bitcoin, but as soon I showed here how established the current cryptocurrency  trading ecosystem was, he soon understands how value appreciation works in almost everything including digital goods. Judging from their experience, basically they are just very concern either:

1. How these 'Bitcoins' could be turn in fiats??? well localbitcoins and luno could easily achieved that, just they don't know about it.
2. They compared BTC with ponzis, something untangible and the earnings are only shown on a screen? Hell no!
3. Lack of knowledge with online transactions, my parents are afraid to send money online.

I would definitely respect parents disagreeing with MMO, after all they spend 70% of their lifetime making cold hard cash (mostly), adapting new technology is certainly more difficult for them.

See don't blame parents who disagree with MMO - Make Money Online and Bitcoin they care about you that's why they are telling this. Give some time to understand about what is MMO.

What I suggest is print the Bitcoin details and ask them to read and explain them the benefit of Bitcoin and the track record of last 8 years and its rate details and if you have friend involving in Bitcoin and gained through bitcoin introduce to your parents and I am sure they will understand.

Things has changes according to the technologies same parents afraid to use ATM Credit & Debit Cards till now lot of people doesn't know how to use cards. Educate them is the only solution to bring awareness.

Strive to the things you really want to achieve, if you want to be a millionare in a fair way, so be it. by this way,your mum cannot understand things that she thinks that is wrong, but prove yourself right. Then She will Realize that not all things are being used in bad way, Maybe she is Thinking that bitcoin is illegal to use. it is not actually that she doesn't want you to be in jail. but she is just showing her concern to you. Not all bitcoin are use for legal ways, there are also illegal. crypto world is so broad/wide to understand.

hahah.. this happened to me before.. but my mom being a bit educated.. i explained her everything ... from bitcoins, alts to block chain technology.. then she finally agreed and invested a large chunk of her savings in crypto and also enjoying the profits from them and even spreading the knowledge she knows to our relatives too ;D ;D ;D

Just explain to them every detail in bitcoin and tell them that you are earning from bitcoin. And tell her that you are not doing anything illegal. Our parents are over protective to their children.

I also experienced this early this year. My dad talked about how his friend's son was making money from bitcoin. My dad told me he believed the young man must be an online scammer. Unknown to him, his own son  ;D was making some small cash from bitcoin. In my response, I tried to explain to him how bitcoin is a digital currency and the whole package but I ended up increasing his convictions about bitcoin.

Maybe I am not a good teacher who knows!

Parents can be very protective and due to the generation gap, they may have a lot of trust issues when it comes to the things that can be done online. They can be very old fashioned and may not believe how things can be easily achieved with the use of the internet which is why making money online is something they don't agree with for they believe in true physical labor. Maybe just tell them how advanced and innovative things have gotten or better yet show them. A proof of how much you earn may make them believe that Bitcoin is true and reliable.

Parents disagree because particularly they don't want their children to get into money matters at a very small age and so that they can concentrate on their studies and activities for now

You don't really have to explain to your parents what Bitcoins are honestly, just do your own thing, it's not illegal :)

A large percentage of parent is not in agreement with making money online not even talking about bitcoin. I do not even waste my time to explain it to my parents  because They believe in professionalism and not just making money.

I think some parents disagree with making money online or in bitcoin was due to priorities that they want their children to have. For students who tend to do these, maybe they are thinking that doing this would consume some of the time you have, that instead of spending it in studies, you must make some online things to make sure you earn money. Maybe another reason why they tend to disagree with it was due to stability of the online world. some where thinking that working thru this is unstable and might not give you enough of what you need. I guess the best way to persuade them is to give them time and try to prove to them the worth of online business nowadays once you had given the chance

Parents are just parents who tends to protect you and maybe if you are going to school, then she just wants you to focus on your subjects its for your future too and not with bitcoin if you are still young

I think it's quite understandable why a lot of parents especially from the older generation, are against the idea of making money through the non-conventional ways. Because going with the safest way would always be the wiser choice (ex : working 9 to 5) with very little risk involved.

we should not blame older generation for not being able to perceive our idea of finding money or their inability to understand fully about cryptocurrency, instead just try to be subtle and do not create that much of a fuss as long as you know what you are doing. At the end of the day, the responsibility is all on us.

Our elders find all the technology related talks difficult. Most of the times, they become afraid of it and do not even try to learn by their own or with anyone's help. Bitcoin technology is a complicated one and totally different from conventional money.

You need to take care of your credentials and it is really easy to be tricked on internet. People do lose money in scams. Above all, arresting scammers is also a difficult task.

Parents especially elder people are untrustful and having a hard time understanding technology. You're gonna be needing to be really patient and explain things to them in a pace that they will be able to follow. This had worked really effectively with my mom and she is very supportive of me using bitcoin now.

Yeah and additionally, they're just protecting you from any cybercrimes that could make your life risky. The fact that they knew that you're making money, it makes it questionable for them how you could earn that money and start asking themselves if it is legal and real one. It makes them think that how in the world can you earn money in just sitting and typing at thw screen while they're spending their time working and traveling to their company just to earn

My parents do not forbid me to make money on the Internet and Bitcoin. But as long as I do not make money on things that are not true like Gambling. With your experience try to explain your parents that Bitcoin not a bad thing, Bitcoin is just an ordinary currency used on the internet can be used to buy something online.

That is what my mother told me before when she did not know that bitcoin is totally legal and that it was accepted here in my country.  Just patiently explaining to them that you are not doing anything bad.  You may show them articles that proving bitcoin is a legit and that there are sites and bank that supports bitcoin.  The best thing is if you showed them what you earned and that they see to it that it was converted to cash.  Then you bought something through it.

In that case try to explain to that person who keeps complaining the steps on how to earn this coins and what are the advantage's and how much money you will earn because of it. Maybe if your mom know's the value of bitcoin and how much you earn then maybe she will also start working here in this forum.

Not all parents are like that unfortunately, many parents think they are always right and while by being older gives to them more experience that does not mean they know everything and this is even more true when it comes to technology, I have seen the parents of some of my friends struggling just to create a social media account.
