The idea is simple:
We've found interesting topics regarding crypto and found experts who could answer or comment on these questions in deep, informational detail. After that, we created a simple “how-to” for that question and posted it on howtotoken.com, distributed it online  and built a community around that. Our goal is to create “how-tos” that could answer questions in a simple and informational format, so that 4 years old children would be able to understand how SegWit works. :)

Who are we looking for right now?

• Researcher – a crypto expert who will research new and interesting trending questions, find experts, and create “how-to” drafts.
• Crypto writer – a crypto expert writer who will create final articles in English. It should be simple, informative, and easy to read.

Howtotoken token details:

• 100,000,000 tokens - the limited token cap that will be distributed in a 5 year period (we’ve made the emission of our token on bitshares: https://cryptofresh.com/a/HOWTOTOKEN and already traded them on DEX).
• 100,000 tokens - first emission that will start on the 30th of August and will last until we distribute the amount among no more than the first 100 experts, who will have the highest value for the community. During this period of time, you can’t buy tokens, you can only receive them from the community.

How tokens are distributed after that
After we will distribute first 100,000 tokens, the mechanism will work like this:

• We will make additional distributions each month for different financial goals that will help us to make great content and marketing (these goals will open to the community).
• Each month, our system will calculate the value of each expert and will send them additional tokens based on his or her involvement in the community (the calculation formula will be based on different factors and will be presented to the community later).
• Starting in October, after all law regulations will be solved, we will start paying dividends for token holders, it will be a percent of ad revenue that howtotoken.com receives from its advertisements.
• You could sell and buy your tokens on the DEX exchange starting from the 30th of August and receive dividends on that later.
• There are two types of tokens: Those received from the community and those purchased on the exchange. We post the ratings of experts on our website and their listing is dependent on their token balance received from the community. Experts can purchase or sell tokens on DEX, but only tokens received by the community matter to their rating. We calculate all of this through bitshares transactions. You may sell all your tokens received from the community but that will remove you from the list of experts on the site. So, in order to raise one’s rating, experts need to increase tokens received from the community.

Is Bitshares platform still attractive ti developers, to me it seems it is lacking behind and with so many new projects popping up in the space it will like lag behind in coming years. It will be interesting to know the reason the developers opt for it

This platform is really great for projects with simple token logic (like our howtotoken). In this way you don't need to write complex smart contract and pay for exchange listing. You could emmit your token in 5 minutes (it costs like $60) and create your custom logic using openladger. And your token starts traded on DEX (your token holders can sell and buy this from day 1), in our case: https://cryptofresh.com/a/HOWTOTOKEN

We have simple logic (so we don't need smart contract):
- We transfer tokens to community members (they don't buy them)
- Simple script get bitshares transactions and create lists of experts from it
- If we need to pay dividends we could use openledger's scripts

I think in the future there will be more such blockchains for "plug and play" token emission. Bitshares is really great - just wait for some time and you will see the second birth of it :)

The ICO starts on bitshares platform. The platform is good and ICO start is very quickly. It's not easy as Waves) I think bitshares a bit underrated.

Could you describe in more details about how expert rating system works and what will I receive as an expert?

Yes sure. The process looks like this:
1) You as an expert participate to the community (give your expert comments for specific topics, market howtotoken.com, etc..)
2) Howtotoken parent account (on bitshares) each week recalculate your involvement as an expert (number of posts views you were comment, number of comments, another community members recommendations) and send you howtotokens based on that
3) Then we calculate ONLY number of howtotokens that you received from howtotoken account on bitshares (all transactions are open in bithsares) - this is your balance
4) The more howtotokens received from howtotoken parent account you have - the higher your position in the rating of experts (the higher dividends you will receive in the future)

Howtotoken is pretty young expert driven community, so you could join in early stage and growth with us.

Yes it's possible - but we want to build niche community with full control of token. It would much harder to change and make custom logic based on steem token.

I don't really understand how are you going to track transactions, could you explain?

All transactions stored in bitshares blockchain (we have turned off anonymous transactions for our token). So the process look like this:

1) We (howtotoken parent account) transfer tokens to an expert
2) Expert could store or sell transactions on DEX
3) Each week we calculate balance = Sum(transaction from Howtotoken for all time) + min(0, Sum(bought transactions) - Sum(sold transactions) )

So the balance as you see don't count transactions that expert bought on an exchange. It calculates only the differences.

what's the purpose you make a polling on the thread above?? may be, you can make sure the members from progress of your project, not from the polling like that.
