Title: BTC Entourage
Post by: FinShaggy on May 21, 2013, 11:37:42 PM
Bitcoin TV Show
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BA4HrOXRFbk

I am wondering where all the Bitcoin millionaires (even semi-millionaires or hundred thousandaires) are. Let's get a group of like 5-10 people, and make a Jersey Shore type series for the BTC community. Start on YouTube and maybe get picked up by some random network.

Throw down together to rent an amazing house at a price that is pretty cheap each. Then basically everyone try to have as much fun as they can while living there, and cameras follow everyone around.

I'll hold the first camera and publish/edit everything. I already make videos, and I'm getting a new computer thanks to Devcoin, so I can edit and everything soon :)
Video about the show :)

Why not BTC entourage entourage, where we are all libertarian-anarchistic Hollywood stars except that we use BTC strictly, I'll be Vince?

Jersey Shore really does suck/

I didn't mean everyone try to be like the people on Jersey Shore, I just meant like the way Jersey Shore is about a certain social group, and they all rent a house on the shore together.

BTC is a social group. And since it is centered around money, they could get a cooler house.

Hmmmm.  Let's see.  What is the average IQ of people who watch Jersey Shore?  Probably 100 (being generous here) and the average IQ of a BTC user is probably 130+ (being conservative)  You certainly won't be able to market it to the Jersey Shore crowd I imagine.   ;D

Maybe there is a market out there for a more "intelligent" reality show.  Who knows?

The goal isn't to get people that watch Jersey Shore to watch this, you guys are missing the point.

And yes, there is plenty of room for intelligent shows. The apprentice was about business strategy, and look at Shark tank.
If we had 5-10 people, each would could have there own thing. 1 guy looking for employees for his BTC funded company, 1 guy hoarding BTC, 1 guy hoarding alt coins, 1 guy that is like a day trader, 1 guy that just mines and parties, 1 guy that made a coin that isn't too popular but has made some good money, 1 guy that wants a BTC church, 1 guy that wants a 100% BTC economy, 1 guy that hates bitcoins, 1 guy that want to get bitcoin into space etc etc.

Of course it won't be marketed to the Jersey Shore crowd.  They would not know what Bitcoin even is.  ;)

It sounds like a fun idea.  Why not???

I doubt that Bitcoin people are really that fun, I am a strong believer that everyone should develop without denying their body mind or soul, I would ideally be a spiritual programmer who is ripped and shredded to the bone, both having a killer physique, being at peace with the world and with my own thoughts as well as possessing a high social intelligence, being an occasional party animal and having a deep knowledge of using the resources/information around me to create websites/projects.

I don't suppose the community shares the same views, most of you are probably closer to the nerd stereotype than what you realize :P. Can't have fun while being a struck up cunt.

Of course the show would be possible if Bitcoins weren't the center of gravity of the whole thing.

I'm sure there are fun people here.

I've been smoking weed and doing RCs & mushrooms since I was 14 and I've got tons of crazy stories from all that shit. Some people might not call that fun, but it would sure as hell be interesting to watch. (I don't want to be in it though, I just want to film)
and the Silk Road is basically making that more common. And it's not always nerds seeking out the Silk Road and ending up using Bitcoins. And I know someone that told me about the Silk Road in like 2009, and he had crazy parties at his house all the time, and now he mines coins.

And I only used SR for like 2 weeks before dropping it and focusing on things like Devtome, because I don't trust the road, an I can get weed from a dispensary.

Plus, I bet there are plenty of alcoholics on here :)

And if Bitcoin island or Blueseed get going, we could do a:

BTC-House: The Island
or
BTC-House: SeaSteading/BlueSeed
or
BTC-House: The Political Zone

Get a whole documentational series going :)

I think a good original series would be

BTC-House: Denver
And the catch line is "Bitcoin or Bust".

Maybe
BTC-House: BC BTCs
And do it in Canada

Eventually a-
BTC-House: Smart House
and have people live in a house, but they have to be willing to do technical work an try to invent new things.

the real house wives of Bitcoin miners..

a bunch of women complaining about electricity bills, heat production coming from their basement, and lack of seeing their husbands all day and night while they are playing the MTGox markets with their produced coins.

That would be a pretty good one too.

And then also them like bitching about how bitcoins aren't real and they need to cash out.

:( I live near the Jersey Shore and actually been to Seaside heights I grew up 40mins away and I understand bitcoin :(

I stand corrected!   :)

I was making a generalization.  I humbly apologize.  But do you agree that you are an exception perhaps?  The cast of Jersey Shore probably has not heard of BTC.  ;)

Too much weed and shrooms.

Silk Road was launched at the beginning of 2011.

Whatever.
It was when I was in Texas, I haven't been there in 2.5 years. I thought it was a few years before I left, but I guess not. Must have been the same year I left.

That, and a bunch of overly intelligent men—where were the females, other than those two adorable booth bunnies, at Bitcoin 2013?!?—staring at their computers for 12 hours per day, occasionally shouting obscenities either supporting or against Peter Vessenes.

we're here - reading these these bullshit comments

(tho i think the idea of this show is awesome. i'd sign up for intelligent reality tv for sure)

maybe try to talk to people like this
http://www.newbitcoinworld.com/2013/04/incredible-us-producers-crowdfund.html
they may well be able to offer help or advice, if they made a documentary then surely they'd be decent at making a "reality" tv show or helping in some way

"Bitcoin crowdfunding has been used by U.S. co-producers Daronimax Media and 44th Floor Productions to finance the feature documentary from director Nicholas Mross"

might be a good point of contact, crowdfunding the project was a great idea

I'll be making my own Bitcoin and Devcoin videos soon, with some documentary style stuff.

Hopefully once people see that I have an audience, they will want to use that audience to get some attention for themselves and will join the project :)

Would you look at that, I am already on the list... or at least I think I am.  :D

What would be the end goal of this show?... Entertainment for the bitcointalk community?

Personally, I think this show would be more fun than watching the GOLD 2.0 bees buzz all day.

the average IQ of a BTC user is probably 130+ (being conservative)

WHAHAHAHAHA!  All those near-geniuses around here weren't quite smart enough to think through a guy named pirate offering 7% compounded weekly.  But don't worry, all those geniuses took it on the advice of a man-child who was obsessed with Sponge Bob Squarepants that such a venture is AAA+ money-in-da-fuckin'-bank.

One of the lead geniuses claims to be an "economist from George Washington University" after only receiving a B.A. from the institution 30 years ago.  But that level of genius is not genius enough to make sure that his twitter account doesn't get compromised.

Tell me more about all these geniuses in this community.  :allears:

But you'd think it would help in not being a complete fucking moron -- i.e. Buttcoiners may not have quite the intelligence quotient as proposed by BitChick.
