Title: Is it safe to reuse a mnemonic seed in a multisig wallet?
Post by: squarepeg on August 28, 2017, 12:29:05 AM
Is it safe to use the same mnemonic seed that you use for your solo wallet as the seed for one part of a multisig wallet?  Is it safe to use the same mnemonic seed as a part of two different multisig wallets?

Yes. Just give the xpub key to whomever wants to create a multisig. The xpub key merely gives the addresses that can be generated with its corresponding xpriv and nothing else. As long as you don't leak any of the private keys of addresses that can be generated with your xpub, you are totally safe.

If you share the xpub with someone else then that person can see all the transactions in your single sig standard wallet too. So best to let electrum generate a new mnemonic for you.
