Title: [2017-08-24] Today - SegWit Starts on Bitcoin, Litecoin gets Lighting Network
Post by: cryptovn83 on August 28, 2017, 04:17:49 AM
This is a big day for both currencies who we can call brothers.

1 Hour Till SegWit

Finally in 23 blocks from now Segwit will activate, so possibly from tommorow we will start getting cheaper fees while using BTC. There are many Segwit parties today all around the world.

Up here you can find local parties: http://segwit.party/

Lighting Network on LTC

Now what this gives is Instant payments, better privacy, smaller fees. Upcoming - Cross-chain swaps with other coins (ie BTC) and really nice Microtransactions. tldr - this is BIG.

Trade The News!
While you may not have enough funds to buy loads of LTC or BTC or you are afraid you can leverage trade on ie BitMex.
Deposit some BTC then with as little as 0.01 BTC you play and get fees of ie 0.07 (just example).

There is BTC LTC ZEC XMR and more to trade this way. I'm there since years and love that spot for fast actions on news.

Litecoin Markets

As you can see its mostly fiat exchanged into LTC now meaning the coin is raising in USD/CNY value not due to BTC dumps but due to new money flying into it.

I am happy if that is the case. I am not on the loop in following the latest news on SegWit of both Bitcoin and Litecoin networks but we all know that we are looking forward for the time when the scaling problems can already be solved even if not totally. Maybe it is time to celebrate for the way things are going on right now.

Congratulations on both networks!

LOL. You are already late posting this news. Segwit has been activated mate. At least check before posting Press Releases. And the effect is still up for debate, we don't know if Segwit has really made the transaction faster or lower fees because the mempool is still clog, although Bitmain has mining 0 blocks since Segwit has been activated that might contribute to the clogging of the network.

And the price looks like have pick up a little bit because a few days ago before the implementation, we see some minor correction but now we are heading to $4500 again. LTC is now being pump up, raising to 20% and going to 62$ a pop.

This particular subforum always seems to attract articles with a somewhat tenuous link to Bitcoin in order to post news that primarily applies to Altcoins without getting moved to the Altcoins subforum.   :D

As for SegWit, the effects were never going to be instantaneous.  It will take time for the positive impacts to materialise.  It's not just the network itself that needs to be upgraded to realise the benefits, it's also the wallets of individual users and the address format being used to transact.  If you're using an address that isn't SegWit-compatible, you can only make use of the base 1MB blocksize and not the new witness space.  The faster people switch to the new SegWit addresses, the faster we'll see a shorter queue in the mempool.
