Title: WDC price speculation thread
Post by: Praxis on May 22, 2013, 03:14:19 PM
It's at 0.0007 as I write this.

What do you expect from this coin in the future?

I'm curious about your perspectives on this.

Honestly, I expected it to be higher. Much higher actually around 0.002.

Same here!
Right now it's mainly used as a mine->dump->buy-something-else coin.
That's a shame, considering the nice tech and dev support behind this coin. Still hoping it'll go up eventually, but I don't dare to speculate anymore ;)

people said same thing to YAC and CNC

Other than "It's faster than LTC!!!" does this coin actually bring any interesting and worthwhile changes to the table? If not, I see no reason it should be worth any more than any other copy-and-paste altchain.

Well, I'm keeping mine as I think it's going to go up eventually.

15 second block times isn't innovation.  I don't own WDC but 15 seconds really is problematic when considering the point of a crypto-currency.  Transactions need to circle the globe, be distributed across the network and "vetted" by a reasonable number of confirmations.

As an early coin with a bunch of miners running on it, things probably appear fine.  However, in the long term, I don't see how this coin can sustain any real worth if it's going to see a significant increase in usage and traffic.

My recommendation is to watch it for profitability and auto-dump it at an exchange.  Markets are hard to predict because communities can sometimes form around the oddest of things.  Still, I think this one will have a tough time sustaining support, which will most certainly affect it's price.

I motion to SELL.

I'm hardly here to defend LTC, merely to state that there's little separating WDC from the Sea Of Crapcoins.

With that said: Scrypt was - and still is - pretty significant.

The addition of scrypt was huge - and considering all these other coins are basing their code off the Litecoin codebase and not Bitcoin I think that speaks for itself...

WDC would be useful if there was a use other than trading on an exchange in hopes of profiting.  Services will drive a coins overall longevity.  WDC has very little going on for it as is, and I haven't heard of much to be excited about besides the hopes of dreamers.

they use scrypt because they dont want their crapcoin to be 51%asic'd before the pump&dump finished...

Stop parroting things you've read off the forum. Litecoin wasn't the first crypto to use Scrypt. Not by a long shot.

LTC didn't bring any worthwhile changes to the table. I hold >100K LTC and I still say this.

Scrypt is not Litecoin's innovation. Check here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=45667.0 to see the coin that originally implemented Scrypt (a programmer named ArtForz did it) -

I dumped most of my coins @ 0.0157 BTC and I won't mine it any more... So I speculate that the price won't rise...

What are you mining now then?

What would be the possible scenario if the blockchain of WDC separate into two?

Even though Litecoin wasn't the first to scrypt it was the first with a proper launch.

So sure, the devs didn't innovate on a technical level but they brought the first scrypt coin with actual staying power, I think that is huge. For all we know, if Litecoin never took off we'd be stuck with more SHA-256 coins.

None of these other coins really stand to make the same impact, except maybe YAC but it had a terrible launch and I'm expecting something to replace it eventually.

i'll throw one. WDC is on a fence, fail or win. The first thing is to update how the difficulty changes right now, most people now know the "get difficulty" thing. When people see a new-born with low difficulty they are switching, making a quick buck, then searching for the next. WDC has to implement something like Bitgem's per block difficulty or maybe every 50 blocks, that way it stays competitive on the mining side of things, or else fail like feather coin and CNC. More services need to be offered that make it worthwhile for people even cpu mining to spend an our or two mining so they can pay for something small. WDC has to become "elastic" to miners demends and traders demands.

I wonder what the WDC dev(s) think about your idea. Hopefully it will be seen.
