Title: Real definition of Hush puppies Post by: pekv2 on May 22, 2013, 06:23:03 PM Someone might be jerking me, but someone once said to me, the term hush puppies is from when soldiers at war would use cyanide in cornbread balls and feed them to the enemies dogs. I didn't know how true this was until I just looked it up.
Long johns silvers has hush puppies as side dish. Something interesting imo. It might be partially true, don't know about the cyanide part, but it would seem sensible to do so back in the day of war.
