Post by: dhenson on May 22, 2013, 07:52:07 PM
Seriously, I can't think of a more inspiring story. This needs to happen.

Yup, I would agree if it's really just one random dude on the forum creating the world's biggest mining factory. :o

I'ts an unfounded assumption that he wasn't successful prior to the IPO, but if true, it might just be the most amazing success story ever told.

I can't think of a better tool to get people excited about bitcoin.

So, according to your link, Friedcat's name is Xinyu Jiang?

Google image search on "Xinyu Jiang".  If you're right, this movie just got a lot better.

He uses the E-mail address fnnirvana@gmail.com on this forum, google it and you will find a lot more. ;)

PS: I know what you found, but syllables are not everything in the Chinese pronunciation, tones are a very important distinguishing factor.

You do notice you necroed a thread from May  :D

But yes to answer your question this is a working documentary it was mentioned at the San Jose conference a few months back and I saw their material through the livestream some true bitcoiners shared, since then it has been developing as an indie project and seems interesting.

Also the 220 is a few months old it's just a part of being a bitcoiner.

To direct you to the proper source this url below is the location where more information can be found according to their ANN they will release an announcement in the bitcoin magazine soon regarding the progress.

(On the topic of the Friedcat movie well I wouldn't mind him having a segment XD)

Actually tones don't help that much either when it comes to searching as there are many words that have the exact same same pinyin and tone (only Chinese characters are unambiguous).

I'd grant the main roles to Max Kaiser & Bruce Wagner, as themselves.

It is an insult to Bitcoin to put Voorhees's ugly-proven-scammer mug on that video.

He is semi-famous. Having him in your film will get it more attention than having someone most of the people have never heard of and that includes the likes of Voorhees, Gavin, Yifu, Taaki, etc.

Not to sidetrack or nit-pick, but that is a very narrowly held view.  There would definately be a large place in the bitcoin back-story for evorhees.

I recall Matthew Wright had him mentioned in his bio story post somewhere with the bitcoin magazine projects group they had etc.
(Not opening a can of worms here just pointing out a source)
From what I recently remember he donated some bitcoins to a few projects can't recall which ones besides Ultimate blockchain compression which should be coming online soon maaku is still working on it but the eta is still a while.
