Title: Most Trusted Exchange
Post by: sylance on August 29, 2017, 09:09:43 PM
This has likely been asked before but I searched and also browsed across the Exchange section and didn't immediately see it.  My question... which exchange do you trust the most.  Not which exchange offers the most features, coins, or a good trading experience; but if you had to store your coin on an exchange which would you pick?

I am a total noob so take it for what it is worth.
CEX.IO being one of the oldest around, being in Europe, certainly certified on some level,
a bit expensive but with amazing support and fiat conversion with 2FA actived by default
is in my mind the most trustable.

I have been using Poloniex and Bittrex since I started trading cryptocurrencies and some at Kraken if the market is idea. But after all the withdrawals delays experienced by some users in Poloniex, I have been using more of Bittrex with some trading done at HitBTC.

HitBTC is a good enough complementary exchange if you need one.

I voted for Bittrex for trading, but to store coins it would be at Magnr.

Its never advicable to store coins with a 3rd party wallet provider or an exchange. This is a rookie mistake in handling cryptocurrencies. Its better to lose a trade because you stored them in your wallet than losing it all because you stored them in an exchange.

Advicable?  Is that even a word?

Sorry if I offended you in any way 2dogs, but I was just trying to speak my mind. I know sylance asked what exchange would be good to store coins in if you didnt have a choice. But the answer should still be none of them. If you really had to choose, any of them could get hacked anytime. I did recommend Bittrex, but I still would be careful.

I see that you suggested Magnr. From their website I could see that they are secured by Bitgo. Bitfinex is secured by Bitgo, but still they were hacked. https://themerkle.com/is-bitgo-to-blame-for-the-bitfinex-bitcoin-theft/

Don't completely rely on one exchange because we don't know when the hackers will attack the exchanges and steal peoples money. For me, I am keeping my coins in two exchanges one Kraken and Bittrex. Still, i don't completely believe them but as a trader, we have relied on any good exchange.
