Title: Electrum Wallet segwit supported?
Post by: BitMaxz on August 29, 2017, 11:28:48 PM
Hi i just want to ask if electrum is segwit supported because i don't see any option or features in electrum..
And i just want to use the segwit just to decrease the transaction.
Is it possible that i can decrease the transaction fee to use the segwit feature? I was looking for other alternative wallet that already supported segwit when sending bitcoin to other..
Do you think there is a wallet with segwit feature?

They don't support Segwit for now.

But I would say that they are pretty close on doing so.
One of their last commits is related to Segwit: https://github.com/spesmilo/electrum/commit/5bf3b26476fc41a1a41e0d2d684779f873c2f2ad

Wallets and services will slowly start doing SegWit transactions and we should see the effect in the upcoming weeks (more transactions in blocks, . Electrum also tweeted[1] about this one week ago, It should be available on the next release.

So the current version of wallet is capable of doing it? Cause I can't see new update for the wallet.

It's not. As I said, you must for the next update (2.10.1 or whatever he is going to call it). It should be listed here: https://github.com/spesmilo/electrum/blob/master/RELEASE-NOTES and you must see an announcement on their Twitter once It's released.

It'll be great once Electrum supports Trezor SegWit accounts.

Electrum has segwit support on testnet. It should be pretty easy to enable it for mainnet as well.
