Purpose

ProgRock Token is a Digital Currency on the WAVES Platform.

The purpose of the ProgRock token is to get more awareness for cryptocurrency in the large community of music fans that are into progressive rock and other forums of progressive music. ProgRock token is a new concept in cryptocurrency which involves getting existing fanbases involved in cryptocurrency. Cryptocurrency is only in it's infancy, and even most computer professionals do not own any of it.  An intellectually stimulating music culture like Progressive Rock is the perfect group to further acceptance of digitally created currency.

There needs to be another standard of value in cryptocurrencies, that of people's personal interests, not just trying to create a new digital currency based on economics.  There are thousands of such currencies which have been created, but we need to focus on building exchanges of values within human interest groups like film, music, and other arts or social interest groups. There needed to be an easy to use interface for the general public, that was not just a wallet for one currency, but both a wallet and an exchange.  It is clear that WAVES has become that platform, with it's easy to use WavesLite wallet that can be installed as a Chrome extension.  It already has a 500 million dollar market cap and has been used worldwide.

Progressive rock has many redeeming features.  Most of the older major progressive rock stars are still leading productive lives into their old age.  Much of progressive rock borrows from classical, world music, jazz and folk making it a music that brings out the best in people.   It is loved worldwide and it is has been produced in almost every country.  Some of the famous bands associated with it are Yes, Genesis, ELP (Emerson, Lake and Palmer), King Crimson, Pink Floyd, Dream Theater, and literally thousands of others.  

There had been a ProgCoin but according to the creator, "ProgCoin was just a smart contract token rather than a fully fledged currency. It had a limited lifespan."

What we are doing first is giving away ten ProgRock tokens per user post to each member of Progarchives and Progressiveears, the two largest and oldest online forums for discussion of Progressive Rock.  For example, if someone has been posting there a while and has 1500 posts, that would be 15,000 ProgRock tokens.  This announcement is being made in both forums.

This announcement will be added onto in the near future to describe more in detail progressive rock and the
Roadmap, Bounties, and Airdrops.

No, I'm going to give large bounties to people, one of which will go to someone who will design a website.    I can host it when it gets designed. 

This may be a long haul because not sure how many people in any given interest group feel safe enough for cryptocurrency, and we'll see if Prog Rock fans are early adopters or not.  You would think they would be.

No, this is a WAVES token, which serves a different purpose.   Many of us trade many altcoins/tokens and so they are not always as monumental as something like Music Coin, which I think is a great coin.

If you have the WAVESlite client installed you can see there are many tokens that in their beginning only exist in the WAVES DEX exchange.
You use WavesLite wallet that can be installed as a Chrome extension.  WAVES has a 500 million dollar market cap and is used worldwide.  Burger King recently issued a WAVES token so it's a new way of doing blockchain without coding from the ground up.

You can only use this coin if you have a WAVES wallet.

Trying to get more music people involved in cryptocurrency and promote Progressive Rock as an art movement.  One forum the response was positive, the other was nothing but trolls.  I think most people here on Bitcointalk think that everyone is already on the boat, but that's not true.  It's amazing it's a 160 billion marketcap now but I wonder how many people that is, maybe 1 to 2 million?   

All arts need support.  A lot of lesser talented artists get promoted by corporation.  Progressive Rock was huge in the 70s but is now an underdog.

How do you intend to provide liquidity? Liquidity is always a big problem for Waves. I hope you have a plan.

It's self-moderated because decent people don't want to see what trolls post. 

There are one billion tokens, a large part will be given away in airdrops and bounties over a few years.   First general public airdrop will be less than a week.

If you mean by liquidity, actually having a monetary value for the tokens?   One way is to not release a lot of the main supply at once, but instead to those interested in ProgRock and can prove they are.  They will get airdrops by doing certain things related to Progressive Music.  Since a large part of the coins will be in their hands, they can trade them, and get fans aware of the token so some people can actually buy them. 

I don't know much about ICO's and the like but I gather once the team is built and this looks like a real and fun project, maybe even some well known progressive rock people might get involved, we can do an ICO to give the coin a price.  I don't doubt this can happen at all. 

Maybe we can also have bands offer items for ProgRock tokens, or have dj's sponsor giveaways, like on a Prog Rock online radio show which there are many.

Here's something from another thing I'm working on.  I want to list one for another genre of music.

I'm an author and composer and long time contributor online to Prog forums.

The reason why there are a lot of tokens is so that a lot can be given to people willing to step up and do some work for it.  It's like bands that have a lot of members: you get that many more people who bring people to the shows. 

Part of the reason for this token and some other arts related tokens is to educate more people about how to use cryptocurrency.

A logo would be great.  Whatever artwork you can use to make the Announcement look better is also needed.   Just check some other threads for ideas.  I believe I am waiting on an Indonesian translation right now, but I will let you know if they don't send one.

It was basically an offer to keep this thread at the top of BTT annoucements for a price.  Some people who have Hero and Legendary accounts here post in your thread if you pay them.

So, let's show our members that we can do that without paying them, that there is stuff to talk about.

I see this as one of many WAVES Token that will be used to support people involved in good causes. 

You can already sell your ProgRock Tokens on WAVES Dex.

You could ask your family and friends to get into crypto and buy some to support your Prog Rock habit, but then that would be like Multilevel marketing.  You could write articles about WAVES, POS wallets, using ASIC miners as a heat source in winter, and so on. 

This of it like this.  Every time you post on this thread, you are supporting Prog Rock bands.

Being a big fan of progressive rock while growing up is attracting me to this project, I honestly like the concept it's the first time that I have discovered an altcoin specifically for progressive rock, will keep an eye on this thread for future updates. That's a great idea, I'm glad you are helping new artists by giving them tokens, unfortunately nowadays progressive rock is getting less and less popular, it's nice that your project is helping revive progressive rock. This generation needs more of this genre in their playlist listening to a bunch of autotune pop songs is just not the same, they need to experience real music.

I guess needed some kind of road map or step-by-step plan to atract more people in project and of course marketing-bounty campaign, it might help I believe.

Thanks for posting mate, I'm saving this list, it's great to discover some bands that I haven't heard before, so far I'm really liking rush,jethro tull and gentle giant. I feel so bad for discovering these bands just now, I guess I have a whole lot of discography to catch up on.

Progressive music has had little support from the bigger labels, and they pretty much serve up this 4/4 beat stuff.  It's interesting how a lot of younger people really love the music from 60s and 70s, even the pop songs. 

I am not getting hardly any support from the Progressive Rock forums, but I don't take that seriously at all.   There is a lot of disinformation about crypto, some of it earned by all the scammers and hacking associated with it.  I want to encourage more great art through WAVES tokens.

I hope to get some team members here, I can give a million tokens over a short period of time if someone takes over some of the responsibility so I can move on to other things.

I am looking for a new Dev to basically take over this coin.   You'll be allotted the Tokens in good size amounts but obviously I want you to stay with the project so won't be giving all at once.   You'll be responsible for paying out airdrops.  I'll still be with the project but I am focusing on another music coin and this coin has a nice build up but it needs more serious time to get people to contribute to the art, social media and brand awareness.   Could be in another six months more music people will start using crypto so it's a great opportunity.

Is  there a roadmap? I see the token on waves dex but it has low low volume.

So far, no one is stepping up to be a part of the team.  I am offering huge bounties for people who do this.  It's time for people to step up and take some responsibility for something they believe in.  They will receive enough of the tokens to be able to distribute them themeselves.  There are some other projects I'm involved in that I think will have less support right now so I want this project which is more popular to get team support.

You can trade it right now on WAVES DEX, which is found in the WAVES wallet.    If anyone knows any progressive bands or individual musicians that have actual products, we would be willing to give them some of the tokens.  After we are further along, and the token is held by more and more people, the desire for the value to increase should warrent it being on more exchanges.

I've seen the price that this token is being traded on dex and so far so good. I hope you're still continuing on developing this project cause you're doing a really good job.

Yes, no one, including myself, is crashing the price.   I want to give away more of these tokens.  I have some art skills but I was hoping someone else would take a shot.   I will be giving away a lot more tokens soon, so look at the Art Bounty as now worth 25,000 for anyone who just submits something that looks halfway serious, and I won't be too picky about it.   Stick figure art doesn't count  ;)

That's good to hear man, I'm glad that you're still passionate about this project, it's just sux that not a lot of people are posting here anymore but I really salute you for being so genuine and for keeping your word. You're one the the few devs on here that I honestly trust. Yeah an art bounty is a great idea! I will like to help you with that but I am not blessed with some art skills why don't you add that to the title, I bet that will help attract a lot of people to join the bounty.

I want to distribute the Tokens to people that will contribute something to the idea.  Hopefully, when people see that they have a lot of the Tokens, they then realize the way to make them worth something is to do something for the overall coin.

10,000 ProgTokens was the first airdrop, but the next one will be 50,000.   And the first one is still open to new people.

As I mentioned, I have another Music related Token I want to launch so I am hoping to get more of a team here.   I will give 500,000 ProgTokens to team members who start to do some things.   And you can give them to bands or trade them.  In time, I think they will bring up some value because hopefully more and more people are going to start collecting and trading WAVES Tokens.  People spend thousands on Prog CDs, DVDs and concert tickets every year, and when they find out that bands can be supported who have been given huge amounts of ProgTokens, I believe they will buy some and bring up the price.

I tried to get some people from ProgArchives and ProgressiveEars but none of them except one person knew anything about Cryptocurrency and most were against it.  That's how early we are in all this.

That's a really good vision man, I just hope someday you'll be able to get that vision to work. Have you tried contacting people on here to help you with this project? There are a lot of people on here who have a lot of experience with cryptocurrency. You can try and look for people on the service section, I'm sure you're gonna find a really good team to help you with your goals. I honestly do see the potential of this project and how big this is going to be if everything will be carry out properly. I wish you luck on this man, I hope you're gonna find your team soon because I can't wait to see this token out on the market being use by bands.

There have been a huge bunch of newbie accounts coming in, posting nonsense on every active thread.  Some of the posts are bizarre.  Obviously, this person hasn't read the last post in the thread.  

Excellent project do not stop developing it, so that you can achieve the goal and reach the established goals, I will go ahead every day with more support and strength to achieve success

I am thinking the only way to get the vision of this coin going again is to sell a lot at a cheaper rate.  I wanted to do that by bounties but people do not seem to yet have the vision of empowering artists by teaching them how to use cryptocurrency.  This way, you can get a half million ProgRock tokens for about $5 and do what you want with them.

Thanks.  Like a lot of people, I had a lot of free time due to crypto investments, and then when things went down, I had less time.  But I see all things I do as long term, and I've been posting on here just about every day.   The offers I've made in this thread still are good.   I'm still looking for help.
