Title: Bitcointalk forum membership levels
Post by: bitcoinexplorer on August 30, 2017, 01:31:20 AM
I often notice the membership ranks and was wondering is there a list of it and its merits of award?

I'm wondering why you don't know, look at all that merit!  ;D

Here's a chart of merit required to rank up. The post above is loaded with useful information (the one with the link)

This is what you are looking for:

In addition to activity, everyone now has a merit score, and you need both a certain activity level and a certain merit score in order to reach higher member ranks. The required scores are:

RankRequired activityRequired merit
Brand new00
Newbie10
Jr Member300
Member6010
Full Member120100
Sr. Member240250
Hero Member480500

LOL, have you checked date when this thread was started? Few new users bumped old thread and then your replied. I think Bitcointalk need to lock old threads automatically after some time to avoid necro bumping.

Lol I didn't noticed it. The op was before the merit system was implemented.

Reddit has a auto lock thread after 6monhs. I don't think it would be a nice idea here, but something similar maybe

Some members(people) find the merit implementation as a foreign to them as they have been inactive before the merit system imemented and they will see something new but the problem is there will be another thread that has the same problem/question about ranks and requirements.

Edit: I thought it's about the user's date registered LOL, I think it's because I haven't sleep yet until morning.
I see it now, August 30, 2017. Is there a merit system before on bitcointalk forum or it's this year only?

It helps you to gain merit if you keep off ignore lists maintained by merit awarders. I've added you to mine for bumping this old thread with a useless post, that could have been answered by reading one of the myriad of topics on the subject.

Posting is a co-requisite to merit in order to rank-up. As has been stated often, you should take a look at these threads in depth:

Merit & new rank requirements (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2818350.0).
Enhanced newbie restrictions & requirements (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5030366.0).

As you’ll see, you need an activity of at least 30 (which you have) and at least one Merit (which you lack). The change you are asking about took place during September 2018, and is described on the second thread I referenced above.
