Title: adapting other alt coin clients to bitcoin
Post by: mikeybs on August 31, 2017, 01:42:32 AM
I have been examining a lot of other alt coins and their clients.

In particular I like the Dash android/apple clients for their ability to do NFC communication.

The apps are opensource and on github.

What would be involved in turning these dash clients, or clients from other alt coins into plain old bitcoin clients?

Is anyone aware of any existing efforts along these lines?

i don't really know how NFC works but with some research i don't think it is that complicated to implement in a bitcoin wallet.
in fact i found this article: https://99bitcoins.com/nfc-technology-could-let-users-use-smartphones-to-pay-with-bitcoin/

but it really doesn't seem like something that can get that many users. one of them reasons why people use bitcoin is because they don't want to need a third party. and this is bringing that "third party" (MasterCard) back in the equation.

this doesn't involve a need for a third party

NFC is near field communication, it allows devices to exchange information when they are brought into contact with one another

it is an alternative to QR codes

instead of scanning a payee QR code to obtain the address (and payment amount), you contact your NFC enabled device against the payee's device to get this info.  It is way more user friendly than QR code scanning IMO.

NFC is built into most modern tablets/phones

in that case it is easily doable. it is a simple addition to the wallet application on your phone.
the issue is now about the demand for it? in other words does people need this, or will they use it?

for example if you can come up with a scenario that requires this or makes it easier then you can ask the wallet developers to add this feature.

yes it is good idea adopting alt coins for clients. now in the market alt coins also had good profit so try to invest in to that alt coins and bit coins. because both are good and important coins and easy to earning profit. we have to try to get bit coins and keep hold it few years and at the same time alt coins also.
