Post by: coinsgod on August 31, 2017, 11:16:38 PM
Does anyone know if there are any promo codes to buy a Trezor Wallet? Thanks

No they are selling all they can make without offering discounts.

Buy one through the Mycelium wallet and at least you might save that wallet from becoming a total piece of junk by giving them some commission.

Other than that there's a lot less supply than there is demand so you'd be lucky to find any type of discount anywhere. They've sometimes been going for nearly double for in hand ones.

I thought Mycelium was meant to be a good mobile wallet. Why do you think it's a piece of junk?

What are "in hand ones"? Are you saying 2nd hand Trezors are half the price of a new one?

They were always a good wallet, but lately they do a lot of shady stuff to get some money - for example showing ads and selling russian altcoin.

Is not it weird that wallet software developers - the one you trust the most with your coins - cannot earn anything with their work?

Because they have a huge button linking to some dodgy sounding ICO directly below your normal Bitcoin functions. That's not the actions of a competent company. The last time users were outraged by them inserting ads into the wallet the developers promised not to do it again. Then they returned with something much worse.

There's also no mention of adding Segwit addresses, dealing with BCH or being able to control fees which means users are probably throwing away thousands of dollars a day.

In hand means it's in the possession of the seller ready to send. I wouldn't buy an unsealed one though.

Is the supply really that low that people are willing to pay double for them? I ordered one yesterday and got an email this morning saying mine has been shipped, and the website suggests a 4 day wait before they will be shipped. I don't even think the Nintendo Switch resold a lot at double the price, and the demand for that was a lot higher then supply.

Pretty sure there aren't any promo codes, as I searched for them before buying and didn't find any that were valid. I doubt new ones were issued today.

It's eased up now, but a few weeks back the cheapest one I could find on Amazon/Ebay was the equivalent of 180 Euros when list is 89 ish. There were people on Reddit offering commissions for anyone who could point them to an online sale at list price.

I ordered a Trezor before the summer and it was here in three days, but then the world went a little bonkers.

At one point Ledger delivery times were over two months. Maybe with the current excitement those waits are going to return.

Something you could do is getting someone who takes part in their affiliate program (https://doc.satoshilabs.com/trezor-faq/affiliate.html) to give out their affiliate earnings to you.

But considering the high payout threshold, low affiliate earnings and transaction fees/times, it seems like it's not worth trying.

Same for me.  Considering that the BTC price has multiplied by four since then though, it's easy to overstate the benefits of getting it early.

I made the mistake of trying Mycelium's iOS wallet. Horror story. I sent bitcoins and it was showing "sending" below the bitcoin amount for nearly 2 hours. There was a transaction ID on the app but it didn't exist on the blockchain. When I tried to derive the raw transaction, I was getting errors. I tried everything. Even used the recovery phrase on another wallet to try to salvage the coins.

The transaction finally went through after 2 hours. It was probably queued on their server. Or they probably send the bitcoins in batches. Never again. I uninstalled it.
