Hi, just got one of those 113-58085SHD1-W90, the XFX Radeon RX580 8gb with the back black plate.
i was expecting to get roughly 25 mhs like my 480, i don't do bios mod. just set core @ 1100 and mem @ 2200

but for some reason this XFX RX580 is only doing 19mhs to my surprise (disappointment). tried tweaking the core/mem settings but no luck, the card crashes a few minutes after running.

Anyone has any tips about this card by any chance?

When i first recieved my xfx gts, i was disappointed also with ALL of them.. but after a few tweaks they are doing better than of my other cards..
What mem type?

in ethos , it says "Unknown - hynix"

do you have any GTS black back plated XFX?

My XFX black core edition RX580 only does 21mhs with tweaks in Afterburner but without bios modding. When I tried to mod the bios, somehow the card got bricked, so I had to revert to the stock bios saved.  I guess I should give it another shot.

i'm not sure, but I have the rx580 8gb xfx gts-xxx edition, Hynix mem.

I'm not no expert, but I've bios moded and running a lot of these cards atm.

I can give you timing straps to mod it, people might give me shit about timing strap mod here. but hey, I'm getting 26.5 on Smos with the current dag and no issues so far for 3 months running solid. if you run windows with the new driver fix, you should be getting close to 30
if you want I can pm you the straps. core and mem settings I can also give you mine, but you will need to tweak that yourself for errors.

recommended to do bios mod in windows. than run on ethos.

Cannot get any hashrate above 21mhs...not matter how I tweak them...
No bios moded...and i just lost patience on them...i guess i might need to try to do some bios mode on these shitty cards...

oh... I use these cards. I haven't tried messing with the BIOS and all that. I didn't realize XFX was that bad. I should have realized when they were the only ones available. One was bad out of the box. live and learn...

I got a few xfx radeon 580's  hynix ones are doing 21mhs and samsung are doing 24 mhs on claymore.

What type of setting tweaks did you do?  Care to help a newbie with some secret sauce?

I've just started mining. So far only 24 hours hashing.

I've been searching around but can't find bios or afterburner settings for the XFX style rx580's.  All other types I find, but not the one's I have.

It doesn't matter whether it's XFX or any other brand, all that matters is the kind of memory installed and the whole procedure is exactly the same for all Polaris cards:

I was getting 17 MHs out of the box with my XFX rx 580 black edition and heres what i did to get 28.5 MH:


if you are only mining and not gaming with these cards be sure to uninstall your drivers with DDU and install the AMD block chain driver.

or, go into Radeon Settings program, select gaming - global - change the compute settings from graphics to compute.

(the block chain driver just forces the compute settings)

there is a little switch next to the 8 pin power imput, flip the switch to the secondary bios that XFX flashed for mining. 

easy as pie.

(I messed with overclocking and such and dont really see a difference, people then flash the bios after these steps to achieve over 30 MH/s)

I use the stock bios on my MSI Gaming X 8GB and it only gets like 20.5 MH/s with small OC in wattman.. 1393 core, 2100 mem. Its all about the bios mod but I still want to use it for gaming (and mining WHILE gaming on less intense games). It has the "new" micron memory which is still bad but not as bad as the first stuff.

Now the prices for these cards are smothered somewhere in the sky, it's real to go into mining with a decent amount, with 1000 dollars in general it is not worth looking at this side, I assembled a farm of 10-1060, let's see what will come of it all

Well it is XFX not MSI for a start.

It's a good graphics card, and I didn't get it last year, but now there's a lot of new graphics coming out.

I am researching this GPU as I am about to buy it. I can get it here in Austria for 249 Euro, about 50 cheaper then any other 8gb RX580. I read before that these cards tend to have lower performance and if you don't know what you're doing (I have really no idea) it would be hard to get anything better than 20 Mh/d out of them.

I got lucky and found the video above (works for Hynix chips for Ethash algo) from sonofatech. It is great, bookmarked this thread just because of this video. I think anybody considering buying XFX branded RX580 need to see that video Thanks for it

That is because the Hynix memory can't be overclocked only through the programs like MSI Afterburner or the equivalent in EthOS. Hynix memory needs to do a bios modification before it can achive up to 31 mhs or even a bit more especially in the 8 Gb of the card.

You should do a bios mod of the card or if you want to only overclock through the utilities , you have to get a card with Samsung memory. I would go with the first option as is cheaper and faster, just a bios mod and it will give you more than the desired hash rate.

Lol  ;D ;D 19 mhs is not much. I get about 26 mhs. If I tweaked it I can get about 28/30 mhs per card.
I also did a bios mod.
