Title: BTC in the UK? Post by: BTC-UK on May 23, 2013, 08:21:43 AM Anyone know of the best way to get BTC in the UK? It would seem that all the big exchanges no longer accept payment from us Brits :(

https://bitbargain.co.uk/ & https://localbitcoins.com/ I've sold on both, very easily with minimal fees, which easily beats the fees that can accumulate when you starting buying or selling via exchanges and/or people outside of the UK. Agreed! Title: Re: BTC in the UK? Post by: ndr76 on May 23, 2013, 12:51:33 PM I had the same problem.
I used bitbargain.co.uk for a while and it worked fine. The commission you pay is huge but It can be good if you just need a one-off small amount of btc. If you need bigger amounts, or if you buy btc regularly, you should definitely look for a proper exchange site as the fees are much much lower. I'm using bitstamp.net now and it works very well: low fees, and you can also place buy/sell orders at a certain price. Careful with becoming a trader though as it could lead to ruin =) The only drawback is that you have to deposit by using a SEPA payment which takes 2-3 days. (what a reminder that bitcoin is the future!) Also you might want to do big amounts as my bank (RBS) charges me a fixed £10 for each SEPA deposit. Still quite convenient thought as with my bank SEPA can be done with internet banking. I never tried MtGox. It has higher volume of trade which is a good thing, but it is more prone to go offline due to DDOS attacks, and I read it is a pain to get registred/verified. Title: Re: BTC in the UK? Post by: Lethos on May 23, 2013, 01:40:43 PM Typically speaking for Buyers;
- Bitbargin prices are usually 0~2% of Mtgox prices in GBP. - Localbitcoin (UK) prices are usually -2~0% of Mtgox prices in GBP. Add in the fact those can be done with free instant bank transfers, fees and commissions are very reasonable, compared to exchanges. I don't doubt, you might sometimes get a better price before fees, commission etc on an exchange, but it doesn't always work out best. Title: Re: BTC in the UK? Post by: bearpig on May 23, 2013, 06:36:10 PM I had a fairly easy process using BitStamp.com and sending funds via SEPA.
