Bitcoin's price briefly passed above the $4,800 mark for the first time today.

According to data from CoinDesk's Bitcoin Price Index (BPI), the price of the cryptocurrency hit a high of $4,802.74, before falling back to levels seen over the past few hours of trading.

Guys what would be opinion upcoming months and what is expected price in upcoming year. Normally price use to bump when we nearing new from Dec 20 to Jan 1.

From this chart it is very simple to say that now bitcoin will increase until 100000. This increase of today will continue for other 3-4 years from now. So bitcoin will continue to jump, and jump and jump, until 100000. After this value we will have to wait pribably another 10-20 years for another increase to happen.

We'll have to see, but you're probably not far off when you say $100k in 10-20 years. It seems like that's a semi-realistic price range, assuming that the market continues the trend that we've been observing over the past few years. Again, that's just subjective and always speculation, there is nothing that can really be done to predict something as unpredictable as the Bitcoin market right now. It just keeps going up, then down, then really high up, then down a bit, etc.

I think you have probably one of the more realistic predictions I've seen on here to be honest.

Bitcoin price has crossed above $4800, and this has made it get added to the top list of increased price of bitcoin. The price growth happening with bitcoin is an expected one, and the growth taking place at present is the pump after a stability gain for a short that happened around $4500 for a long time. Hope the ongoing increase might take the price over $5000.

This is really some amazing news and if you been following recent events I am not even surprised that it shot up. I feel that the price shall be low 5000$ and 5500$ as High. I feel all the indicators are pointing towards a growth and that it shall be very soon we will see high levels. With the global conflicts happening and more countries adopting it, people I believe we will sooner witness another big bull run.

This wave the bitcoin will stop at $5000. But after November, it will shoot up to $8000 by the year end. This will draw more merchants to accept bitcoin.

Are there going to be new threads everytime BTC's price rises by $100. Not too surprised to see $4800, it was gonna happen, even $5000 looks like its just waiting in line to come and go before BTC reaches $6000 and higher.

One thing's for sure, the next months I'd just be holding my coins and try to resist the temptation of buying things that I honestly don't need. The next few months would be promising if we maintain this kind of momentum. We could even reach $7000 seeing that $5000 is just around the corner.

I don't want to sound like Kwuckduck, but it's rising too much, too fast. $4800 looks great, $5000 and $8000 prognosis is wonderful.
But sooner or later a correction has to come. And it will hurt. I don't know if this is going to happen before the SegWit2x schedule or later (next year?)... with some luck it will be as short as the pre-SegWit turmoil.

Wow, this really is good news if it really is true. This is the very first time that bitcoins price has risen to over $4,800 if ever! I hope this icreases more as days, months, and years pass. Because this thing happening today is the greatest dream of all bitcoiners.

I say about 5k-10k in the upcoming months and higher after december. May even reach the 10k mark. But then again nothing is for sure when it comes to bitcoins. All we can do for now is speculate.

Consider this as a sign or proof that bitcoin has the potential to reach +$10 000 by the end of this year. Bitcoin is one the best investments at the moment, if you have it, just hold on to it and hope for the best. If I were to speculate the value of bitcoin in the next few years, I would say it is having the potential to reach $20 000 in 5 years period.

The strange thing is, people do not even get exited when we break previous record high prices. I think we might see $5000 US within the next few weeks, if the trend continue at the pace we are going now. I have also looked at some innovative Bitcoin projects that would be launched in 2018 and based on that, I would predict that we would be testing the $8000 US bitcoin price by 2018.

I think bitcoin might hit somewhere around $7000 dollars before the year end. I would not even be surprised if it gets past that price. One thing fir sure is people will surely monitor the price hoping for more increase especially those that are holding bitcoins.

correction has been happening, it doesn't have to be dramatic and annihilate everyone on its path :D
a correction can be smooth and small too, like what we have been seeing so far. the dips that were as big as 200-300 dollar were the corrections.

the big "drop" will come though, before the S2X schedule. it is not going to be a correction, it will the FUD/drama dump because of SegWit2x upcoming war. because apparently the community can not reach consensus without a drama!

It is great to hear that, as its value is increasing day by day and I think it will be growing more than $6000 by the end of the year. Its increasing value is making it more and more popular due to which people are investing their money in it and holding them to double their earnings and gain huge profit.

Although we saw it coming and I didn't see it as a surprise and its bound to continue with that trend in the near coming days but at the same time, we should not be unweary of the challenges ahead as well because that is another factor to consider in the face of several opposition both from the crypto community and the entire government as well.

even when bitcoin reaches $ 4000 this year, it's also the first time. but, for the top price, I think bitcoin will indeed cost $ 4800 in the near future, and that will make it a lot of people make a profit.

It is good to see the bitcoin rise again and record a new alltime high. And because of this, the concept is growing. Maybe now in September. it will climb to $ 5,000 each. Because of the ongoing developments we expect it to increase until the end of the year.

It only mean one thing, investors are really seeing a bright future for bitcoin that is why they are willing to put their cash on the market. I haven't found any news though, whose pumping the price, only news that I read is that Gold investors suddenly flocking and going to bitcoin bigtime that's why the price is so high right now. Testing $5000 would also be a good condition and we will see if you can go there in a few weeks in this massive bull run will continue. It a correction could happen, so be it, just a normal process. Just hope that we can sustain $4600-$4700 so that it will be easy to break the $5000 wall. I don't want to speculate the price at the end of the year, but its definitely huge.

It only briefly touches $4800 though and its back to around $4600+. Its this the new psychological barrier for traders? I think so, so for me it will difficult to touch $5000 for now unless another positive news will come our way. The looming Segwit2x may bring us to that. I consider a healthy correction is needed again so that new people can get it and buy bitcoin back that will really push the price to $5000 or more. Yeah, at the end of the year we may see $8000-$1000. Its gonna be a good Christmas season for all of us then. LOL.

I d be very cautions and say $5-5.5k by the end of the year. Next year we can probably double that. In 2019, people re going to start thinking about next halving and then, anything s possible.

I am not quite sure if this would make sense, but It seems like the Chinese considers August as a ghost month that's why they did not make so much transactions... now that August has ended, expect them to be back in bitcoins and make it close to $10k before the ber-months end. CAVEAT!

$100.000 is a lot. Damn, I really should buy more now, so that I end with 1 coin and not only some Satoshis in the end.  ;D Some say it will even rise up to $500.000 or more. Let's see where we end.

Expectations are too high for things to happen in less than 4years

A continuous increase for 3-4 years without any dips or corrections is not possible neither is it possible to have stagnation for more than a decade without activity, let us not forget bitcoin is still the top crypto currency and every one new to the crypto world will have to go through it first which means rise in demand and price.

it is not really called "falling" though. it is the normal fluctuations where price goes up and down in small increments. and as long as it takes 2 steps forward and 1 step backwards we call it a rise in general.

and yeah it is great, this rally is not going to end this soon. we are just getting started and in the following months we will continue to see the bull market and hopefully the SegWit2x issues don't cause a big bear market for us.

We are on the right path. C'mon bitcoin. Let prove to us that you can become better, greater and more expensive. More investors have spent more and more money on bitcoin. Not only bitcoin, the whole crypto market has also increased, too. Cryptocurrency is now the trend of this decade

I am sure we are going to cross $5K mark soon but then we might see some downfall in the price because those investors who have invested at lower levels like $3,500 and nearby levels will book their profits at a milestone of $5K so for some time, it will keep fluctuating at $5K level and I am expecting the same level as of now between 20 Dec to 1 Jan. However, I am expecting further growth in the next year and mid term target of $8K considering the growth rate.

Being a newbie in cryptocurrency, I was really surprised seeing the price at $4700 mark few hours ago but oh boy it really reached the $4800 mark today! I bought a few BTC's 3 weeks ago at $4200 price as there's a prediction that it will reach the $5k mark soon which I think will be just around the corner now, few more days to a week perhaps?

More and more people are interested to bitcoin, so the price is growing up

Lot of people are considering this as a fact that bitcoin will reach 10000$ by the end of 2017 . Well I put my money saying that bitcoin will reach 7000$ at least and then the rest is history. Until then all you can do is wait and hope for the best.

I Don't expect that bitcoin will go beyond my expectation. I am expecting that bitcoin will reach $5,000 at the end of this year but eventually it is almost $5,000 now.

It is really interesting to see the price increases once again.
And that is happening even without the ETF approval in the US.
The investors from today, I think they are all normal people who see the potential of bitcoin (and I don't think many people can see that).
Imagine what will happen once ETF is going to be approved.

It is rising too fast, but when you get a bull run like this, anyone trying to get in it's way tends to get crushed. By all means take some profits if you own bitcoin, but don't do any shorts, you are likely to get totally crushed.

soon we can see the price reach new highest price more than $5000 and its close to that price. maybe in next month the price will increase so high and only few people can buy a whole bitcoin. but for all of this, i am happy to see the new highest price and i am glad that i can exchange my bitcoin into money for buying something.

but i think the price is jump so fast because i see the price is at $29xx in almost two month ago and stay for a while but after that, the price is like can not stop and continue to increase until now we can see its more than $47xx. its good for bitcoin because i am sure that many people will open their eyes and more people will join with bitcoin. 2017 is the greatest year for bitcoin, the price is moving up, many people interesting with bitcoin and they are curious why the price is up so high especially in this year.

In this year August block size has been increased and most of the people worry that bitcoin's value would fallen back to 1000$ but fortunately since splitting happens bitcoin's increased to next peak value. So it is good for bitcoin. If this continues in future bitcoin value will be on 10k in some years.

There is many good news on Bitcoin that justifies the $5000 price which I guess will be here to stay by this weekend already.

Like that Bitcoin is even better than GOLD. Many articles in big newspapers on this soaking more traditional investors into where the profit is.

I dont see it as enthusiastic tho as many in the Bitcoin community. The references to bitcoin reaching 100k seem to be largely from people HODLING bitcoin and wanting it to rise.

Remember the tulips in holland? ... I guess people were just as enthusiastic until at some point it all crashed down.

Bitcoin has crashed a couple of times in the past, why exactly would it not crash again? Anyone got any good explanations for that?

In some years? Its rising like 1% a day or even more already. This would get to 10k within maybe 3-4 months if it keeps rising as it currently is rising.

Checking on the latest price on Preev.com it is already on 4811 range which im sure we do really reach on a new ATH on bitcoins price we im really glad that we did able to break that 4500 resistance and now price do play on these ranges 4800 and below and for those investors or users who did bought on 4400 for sure they are on profits as of now specially on short traders. Bumping up its price surpassing 5k level in next month is really possible we are just only $200 away on it.

This is a very good news about bitcoin itself as it is show casing the power of it above any other crypto currencies, I believe that it will surpass the $5,000 mark before September ends. And maybe it will surpass or reach $7,000 mark before the year 2017 ends. It is not too late to invest in bitcoin though after all this events.

You are correct .Not many People accepted this.The price of bitcoin reaches 4800$+.This shows the growth of bitcoin in a couple of days and weeks. At August 1 ,some may thought the bitcoin will disappear. But the bitcoin over come all the things and shine after that also.Here is the proof for that.

I like the behavior of bitcoin this year. Every year bitcoin is growing exponentially. A little more and I really start to believe that it is possible to become a millionaire. We'll see what happens, but the price is $ 5000 I also like.

Dude sometimes when I check the new price, I get stoned. For few moments I don't believe my eyes. Though I expect the rise already but still every time watching it converting into reality is shocking. Bitcoins rock!! Feeling out f the world!!!

This as i expected in early september i think this is a good sign that this september it may reach $5000 finally and by december i am looking forward to $6000-$7000 price range before the year change.

Currently the price is at $4900+, and seems to have no signs of stopping.

I would think that the price will at least $5k this month. Whether it is able to stay up there or not, i'm not sure. Depends on how segwit2x turns out, if it turns out well then we could well establish $5k as a floor for now.

Basically a $150 profit per coin at least in less than 24h once again, shows how crazy this currently is. I would be cautious entering.

For sure bitcoin world as of now is very happy because the price is not 4800 dollars its already 4900 dollars and counting and I think last 1 hour ago the price reached 5k dollars. Correct me If im wrong but I see that. But maybe today the price will totally see that or meybe tomorrow . 5K is real lets celebrate and for sure itwill increase more because its bear months.

I have a good prediction for bitcoin in september until the end of this year. Currently in Coindesk bitcoin prices almost reach $ 4900 and I am sure in the next few days bitcoin prices will be up to $ 5000. This is based on my observations over the last few days, I see bitcoin fluctuating but the increase price bigger than a decrease price. So, if you want to get a big profit, I think keep hold our bitcoin is a wise choice.

There seems to be resistance at the $5k level.

When it got close this morning, it adjusted down $100 straightaway. Seems like some bears are determined to keep the price of bitcoin below $5k even though there are a ton of bulls out there trying to get into btc.

I would say that in the upcoming months, things are going to be even crazier. We should see $5k be broken this month, and perhaps $6k next month. After that though, it is highly likely that a dump will drive btc down to $4-5k and hopefully stabilize there.

Well that was very short lived. Currently, bitcoin is down to $4700 once again, which was a significant decline from the ATH of over $5000 on certain exchanges(never broke $5000 on coinmarketcap, though).

It's actually gotten lower than what we started with yesterday, that's how big of a dump it was.

Anyways, i think that currently price is over pumped. Anything over pumped will have to come down and i think that most likely it will come down by the end of the year. I think that $3k-$3.5k is the most likely scenario. Maybe it'll keep going up, i don't know. But i wouldn't take the risk myself of buying into the market right now.

This is it, I think it will reach more than $5k and all would be happy for the price is increasing. This seems the good news for bitcoin holders. Yes lets celebrate price would be skyrocket.

Price has actually gone over $5000 on certain exchanges which is pretty crazy if you ask me.

But soon after that we saw the price go down to as little as $4690 which i think caught everyone off guard. This just proves that how dangerous a market in mania mode can be, it can be dumped without any warnings.

I think that there will be more corrections coming in soon, most likely driving price down to $4000 or less.

We seemed to have retraced pretty strongly after that. $5000 seems to have sparked off a big round of profit booking. This is actually good news, in my opinion. We could be poised for the next step after $5K.

It's $4587 now on Coindesk but I am very positive with your prediction that it'll reach $7k before the year ends. It might go down a bit and could probably fall below $4k mark but knowing Bitcoin it could sky rocket again in just a blink.
