I would like to create a list with tips and tricks for promoting an ico!

It is clear that that one of best ways to promote an ico is finding a trustworthy and experienced promoter here in the forum.

Nevertheless, as always in life, you gonna need to have a basic understanding by yourself before you can give this very important job to a promoter/manager.


* The idea of creating the list came up because I'm currently working on 2 projects:

and (we) are planing to run an ico till end of this year. Marketing & PR is nothing new to us, yet there are some specific points that just apply to ico promotions.

Just use the word blockchain, revolution and smartcontract a lot. Also make a whitepaper with a lot of content. Stuff it with nice hype cycle related words. Make a PDF and state that you have a unilateral partnership with Adobe. Make sure the whitepaper immediately kills the attention span. Nowadays only mentioning having a whitepaper or having a non functional link on your website with the name whitepaper is already enough in 9o% of the cases.

Furthermore make a signature here on bitcointalk with the name of your ICO. Open troll accounts and start topics like Waves vs -inserthenameofyourshitico-. Also participate in other discussion and mention things like I plan to buy inserthenameofyourshitico- and that you expect it to boom big time in the first two months.

Also project scarcity. Very import!!! Underscore that there is a limited supply available during a limited time.

Just do everything possible to circumvent people think about that whatever your ICO is about is just a smart way to collect easy money outside the regulatory overview. Also make sure that people think this really needs to be decentralized and on the blockchain. Centralization is just not an option for your product. Also pretend you are solving a real world problem. Even when the problem does not exists or the problem is there  it cannot be solved by what your offering, just pretend there is a real world problem and that this real world problem is solved by your company.

Mentioning China also seems to work. Maybe also mentioning some banks or banking systems like swift. Always works

Last but not least...track down Amanda Johnson and drag her out of her camper. You need YouTube presence. If she is too expensive you can also recruit some borderline internet addicts from the ripple forum here on bitcointalk. They have enough manic periods to create a lot of online content to promote your ICO.

Good luck with your revolutionary ico.You can also just call Sasha Ivanov frokm the Waves platform. They have a streamlined process of how to lure people into buying your crap. Really professional guys. They know every trick in the book. Only precondition is that you offer your ICO on their platform. I mean even a Ferrari needs fuel to drive...

No serious! Not everyone is a scammer trying to realize a project! I do agree that that what you said is true in many many cases. But I for myself will not go this way... ;)

If you want to create an ico, the things to do is you must create a team that will manage the ico where each person has a skills in Marketing,  financing, planning and other's and make sure those members of your team that you are going to create must have an experience in this industry.

Theres no actually a tip or tricks but we do have common things to be considered first when we are planning to promote an ICO. One is its marketing on which we should really make focus on this one and be sure that you would able to have a promising project for which people or possible investors would able to put their money on. This is mostly the thing an ICO would become successful.

Saying there are not tips to give to promote an ico is not a fact!

Due to a lack of valid use cases it will be the only route to do it. For 99.9%  of the nonsense going on right now there is just no need  for a public ally traded coin on a block chain. 99.9% of the things are inefficient to decentralize. ICO is just a crowdfund vehicle and the coins and a platform is just the technical condensation that enables you to attract money. There is no other use in it.
Look at Tezos. Won't deliver shit for their 250 million ICO.

There is another trick I see. And this is a real trick because it is unexpected. Hold 1 round of ICO. And then say it was so popular and in demand, and you receive a lot of complaints that it was unfair and over so quickly, a second round will happen but with limited order per person. I have seen this happen and  wow did it work.

ICO's are comment now a days but some of them are quit interesting and profitable.
There are many ICO's that might fails and some some might succeed.
here I share few tips for promoting your ICO because I worked with many success ICOs and get lot of money
1:- your idea must be unique, profitable and loaded with tech.
2:- you need good advertisement platform, you need ot of investment just on advertisement because the more people inspire to you idea the more they get involve and invest.
3:- you need professional crew to build up platform of ICO, professional developers, writers, managers etc
4:- you must show All your idea with professionalism, A web design and white papers contain 80% success of ICO.

Just buld a great product. If there is a REAL need for it your project will go viral.

Try to get listed on ICO lists and get in contact with all those ICO Review Telegram Channels if you wanna buy some reach.

This market is still large.

Most products will market themselves if they are good enough and explained well enough. I see many ICOs that allocate a large budget to their bounty campaign and other marketing but do not do the simple things such as having a well written and clear to understand whitepaper. The shocking level of English for some also frustrates me, I understand for many it is not their first language but just as they pay translators they could pay someone who is a native English speaker to proof read their ANN, whitepaper etc

I like the comment of "comp" because in most cases this is very true.
It depends on ICO team, will it go with all out ICO marketing without going in project details or will do good marketing with good description.
Recently i  have red a lot of ICO s , very often  there is this disconnect between ICO team and rest of the community because they are explaining things in very sophisticated manner. In my mind you have to be able to explain things in very simple way ( what will this project do) with references to more detailed stuff . Because in most cases even an interested person can go away because the description is too sophisticated and not clear even if he/she is interested in idea.

never underestimate the community of crypto, bounties are great way to gain interest and promote a coin. twitter, facebook and youtube are preferable.

make sure you reward those who help you though especially if they believe in the project

Bounty program is very targeted marketing to promote ICO, Bitcointalk signature is great. Most twitter accounts from bitcointalk users are crypto related account. It is very targeted market.

At first you should know the basics rules of Ico. In order to success your ico, a good team is must needed. Promising ico, good planning, platform,well decorated website and roadmap can help in this case.

Yes bounties can be a good instrument to promote... however many scammers around these days... just signing up for bounties make fake slack or telegram accounts, have worthless twitter and Facebook accounts and so on... just try to suck the bounties out of a project...

You need to be selective and careful as well!

You need alot moree. They should have very very strong team that can deliver! Already some kind of a prototype, never invest into icos without prototype. I hate whitepaper icos, they will make you lose money! So watch out guys

This forum is better and more effective. Because in this forum is definitely a person who understand cryptocurrency. Whereas if in other social media or blog. Maybe only some people know crypto. So I recommend making big promotions in forums plus some outside promotions

Promoting any ordinary ICO is never a good idea. It is immensely important to study the project before you promote an ICO. The salient points such as the Roadmap and Use of a particular project should be taken into consideration.

There are a lot of ways to promote an ICO project but as I know the most effective way to do it is advertising. You can rent the advertisement place in this forum or on the coinmarketcap.com. Beside you can run the advertise about your project on Facebook or Youtube as well, it's also working. Moreover you can try to ask some trusted member in this forum to manage your ICO bounty campaign, it's also help people believe in your ICO project when the bounty campaign managed by a trusted manager in here.

Folks, how about to share real case-studies?

Seems all full of theory, but maybe someone will want to share real cases, struggles, cool tactics which really work for them?

Here is the problem with ICOs.
ICOs have to be promoted to collect cash.
Promotion has a cost and if the cost is over the amount collected or a big part of it the ICO is useless.
Ok airdrops and bounties are paid with token,but in reality it push down the real token value.
In fine the promotion is paid by the token buyers.

I prefer that my ICO is not promoted with a cost and each token offered for free is financed.

There are many ways to promote an ICO project but the most effective way is advertising. You can r promote about your project on social networks like Facebook, Twitter and youtube etc. And you can promote through Airdrops and bounty campaign.

The good question was lighten in this post. The very Great idea promotes itself easily. But as to my mind there are also should be a critical amount of people who know about it to spread the idea. I'm working now on a project called Ponzi Trust - and I should tell you that they have an explosive idea, with the using of smart-contract and blockhain technologies in a very new and modern manner. It only needs a very good promo team with certain media focused, I think.
