Sorry but I don't understand Russian. What was their crime? And how is it related to Bitcoin anyway?
I thought Russia was a very Bitcoin-friendly country...

Even in the description it doesn't say what these people were doing. You can clearly see they had multiple phones and had a Visa site on one of the computers. Were they Bitcoin dealers? I thought trading was allowed in Russia... Maybe they were laundering money?

They earned the trade of crypto currencies on the exchange. In order not to attract attention they were making a lot of Bank cards for different people and cashed them using crypto currency. We are talking about a total of about $ 9 million. Now they are accused of illegal banking activities. Stupid country and stupid laws.

If I understand correctly, they were trying to hide their income from trading by dividing it into multiple accounts and withdrawing via ATMs in cash. This had to be done to avoid paying taxes, so the country isn't stupid.
IMO the banks got them because even though they had a few different accounts the transfers were most likely coming from just 1 or 2 exchanges and they were withdrawing in the same town. I don't believe they were smart enough to have the accounts stand on people from different parts of the country and going there to withdraw.

According to law enforcers, the detainees issued more than 300 bank cards and SIM-cards for their relatives and friends, through which they organized exchange and transfer of the crypto currency. Through these accounts and registered on "frontmen" accounts on the Internet, they cashed more than 500 million rubles.
