Title: Why do some ICOs have restrictions for US citizens?
Post by: martoooo on September 01, 2017, 08:42:59 PM
Hello!

I have noticed that in some ICO have restrictions for US citizens. Monetha is one of these.

Do you know what is the reason?

Is it some legal issues? And if it is, do you know which they are?

Because of concerns surrounding the SEC and how it views/will view crypto and ICOs in general. If you allow US-based "investors" and the SEC views your token as a security it may create a lot of additional work to ensure the business is in compliance. If the team/project isn't US-based then the easy thing to do is simply lockout US-based investors and not have to worry about it.
