Title: Bitmain mufflers/silencers
Post by: RealHummer on September 02, 2017, 02:10:23 PM
I cannot believe people are buying the silencers on Ebay for almost 5 times the price they should be. These are nothing other than a HVAC duct silencer, all you have to do is a little homework with a 10 second google search and you will find them. I guess some people think its something special bitmain is making for the antminer.

Anyone have pictures if their mounting system?

The ones people sell on eBay are just like this with no mounting, I assume. It's cheaper than putting the entire miner into a tube like Phil did, but it should reduce sound to where it's not a vacuum cleaner anymore. Won't be quiet, but it helps a bit. If you want to go ghetto just get a large tube, put some textured soundproofing foam like in there on the inside, and then stick it onto the ends of the miner. Same result, way less money.

this is not so good I did 2 of them  one in and 1 out  still noisy  as the miner is loud due to tiny heat sinks

the 12 inch flex duct is better

cut to 8 feet long center the miner

make a hole in center for wires

3 miners per 25 feet

and still loud but bear able

cost 16 per miner

Phil,

Received my first S9 yesterday! Dang these are loud.. haha! Going to drop by Home Depot today to grab this insulated ducting.  Does  it increase the temps on the miner any?  Thanks for any tips!

I did soundproofing of a small room properly via rockwool and drywall. It cost quite alot though. I tried the silencer method in the past but it just doesnt work. Sound moves like water, any hole and it goes through. U gotta cover every part of it.

You are creating a problem that doesnt need to exist. You simply should not run industrial equipment in your house.
