Alright, let's say I have a budget of 1000 USD and I want to invest it into cryptocurrency. Is it better to buy my own setup and mine or do cloud mining or should I buy some coins directly ? What cryptocurrency might be the best for long-term profit ? I am willing to lose that money (although I would be sad ofc) but I wanna somehow start with cryptos since I believe it has got a great future.

Since a fork happened in bitcoin,it is already reached apex point of its value.Though it is not indicating the consequence of imagined profit investing in it for now.
At the moment my consultation is to invest in ethereum.This coin is growing next to bitcoin and might be the best for long-term.
Do not go for cloud mining projects,in this way you will loose your whole budget.

I think its really expensive to start mining and all because of course you would also pay you electric bills for that and most of them would say it would really cost a lot of money. Why won't you do trading instead, it is risky but less risky if you go for long term trading.

Buy bitcoins, put them in cold storage and forget about it. Mining rigs are expensive and there are running costs (primarily electricity) as well. Plus it is no longer a profitable model for small players.

buy mining equipment: not a bad idea if you have a cheap electricity, have some space in your home to place the rig and do proper cooling and also if you know how to maximize your profit by mining the better coins and dump them on good time.

cloudmining: a big ass NO.

buying coins directly: this is a good option too. it doesn't have to be a separate one either. you can mine and also invest. buy bitcoin first and always have some of it held somewhere safe. specially now that there is a dip it makes a good time to invest for long term. and also start trading altcoins to know them better, it helps with choosing what to mine too.

Sorry to say but cloud mining is no more profitable for the ordinary investor. In these days cloud mining sites are either end up as a scam or in the loss making companies. Thus I would strongly advise you, avoid it.

You can directly invest your $1,000 through diversified investment method and go with Bitcoin as well as some promising alt-coins. I haven't tried actual mining with hardware of my own so I am not eligible to comment in that regard.

Like some of the advice given here Im with the invest straight into BTC camp.  There were a lot of people who didnt do it because they were thinking that BTC's price was too high. But if they did it for $1000 starting on January of 2016, their investment would be about $10,000 by now. In 5 years it could grow 5 times more.

Find an altcoin that has got promised growth in a short or long. This can be found through a long time research and using the price variation chart. Once after that invest into the digital asset and make the profit out of the same in a less time and then you could follow the same pattern and save the profit in terms of bitcoin leaving the capital.

No, don't invest on cloud mining. It takes years to get ROI, it's better to buy the coins directly. You can invest on bitcoin and hope the price of bitcoin will increase or you can invest on altcoin that have a good future for the next 1-2 years. You also can invest on ICO project, there are many good project actually to invest.

As for mining vs trading i would go for tarding as electricity costs in my country are huge and my knowlegde very scarse. I would also stay AWAY from cloudmining.
As for trading diversify. 50% BTC ( some could go in margin tarding lending). 25% well established alts like ETH and MONERO. 15% cheap alts like XBY. 10% is dividend paying tokens like TAAS.

That 1000 USD investment for a cryptocurrency is a good start and it is not a big investment or even a small investment but a good start for a newbie. Just buy it all for bitcoin and if you are done buying bitcoin then just diversify it by buying different altcoins in the market like bittrex, poloniex but before you buy something there then do research first to avoid investing on bad projects.

Stay away from Bitcoin mining and also cloud mining. The difficulty is much too high for your $1000 mining rig to make any decent profit and cloud mining is mostly a scam. Do not listen to anyone telling you to invest in some Alt coin, because they most probably own some of it and wants other people to buy it to increase the value of the coins they are hoarding.

Bitcoin has a proven track record and enough volatility to make some good profits buying low and selling high. Stick with the coin that has the highest network usage.

Yes I agree to you that stay away from cloud mining because there are many mining websites now are turned into scam. It is better to trade your money to the different altcoins so that you can earn an additional income but before trading from the coin make a research first to the coin that you are wanted to trade because there are also a scam coin that doesn't have no progress for a long time and may become disappear in the future.

If i were you im gonna invest that money in an altcoin which has the promising project and its for long term. Dont you notice the rise of icos these days, but some of them are scam so becarefull on what coin you will pick to invest.

Mining is expensive and you cannot find a cloud mining that is not going to be a scam. Your best bet for a small amount like that is go for altcoins and bitcoins. And if you know how to do trading, that is a good option as well.

Cloud mining is a scam, and mining hardware is expensive. Remember that with mining, you have to pay for electricity as well. Those things eat a lot of it.
I would really say that buying coins with the budget you have available is the best solution.
If you don't want to risk it all on one coin you can split it up.
Maybe half of it into bitcoin and the rest equally devided into three other major crypto currencies.
Then you are on the safe side, I think.

Well mining depends on where is your country or how fast you own internet can be. Also even if you have a good setup but the internet in you country is low, then you wont really have a good profit and its obsolete. But if you have fast and reliable internet like gigabytes, then it is really profitable u might as well as build another setup if you would. Cloud mining has the same that really relies on how fat your internet is.

an initial capital of 1000 usd is a good start in crypto investment but risk handling depends on what crypto you are going to invest, but suggestion is try to make a 4 portfolio on your investment for a safer side, so this is how you divide your investment a 2 30-percent for long term investment and a 2 20-percent  short term and faster roi . for long term investment try btc and eth or other top 10 alt coins with not more than a 100 dollar value. the other two sets for short term is for 2 alts with less than ten dollar value. my best advice is stay away from scam-proned cloud mining. although mining is viable but it needs a lot of time to stablize mining profitability than trading / investing.

Mining is mainly for those living off grid who generate their own electricity via windmills/solar panels/etcetera or those who have access to a limitless supply of cheap (or free) electricity to power their mining rigs. The difficulty of mining coins is always increasing and so being profitable from a mining perspective is always a battle of diminishing returns where the cost of electricity factors in heavily. When the value of a coin rises, it becomes easier for mining to be profitable. But in most instances a lone miner probably won't be as profitable as simply buying coins and holding them over the long term.

There are a lot of cloud mining turnkey operations which promise the power of cloud mining through a browser interface with only making an account being required. Those have a poor reputation and usually aren't profitable due to the number of additional middle men in the chain who have to make their profit. With cloud mining basic electricity costs aren't necessarily optimized or kept at a minimum which could make it inferior to more independent miners who have access to cheaper energy.

I'm not certain which crypto currency is undervalued at the moment with a good potential for growth. Looking over stats and metrics probably wouldn't be a good bet if you're looking for short term gains. The best one might hope for may be to get in early wherever the pump and dumpers plan to go next & be lucky enough to ride their pump on its way up. Or maybe to wait for the next big fork announcement which could drive the value of btc down & wait for its price to decline before getting in and (hopefully) riding it back up.

It depends on what you want out of those 1k$. Long term it's probably best, to buy BTC and wait. Short term, you will probably have better income by trading if you have any experience with it. Or lending it. Of course each possibility has its own possible bad outcomes.

If you have great knowledge for mining , it's worth for you to try it since AFAIK, mining bitcoin are better than invest
But if you're looking easy way to invest, just buy and hold and wait for next 4 year, you're a millionaire in the future

             It should be more wiser to seek first some guidance and learning references, like what you did here, ask some opinions and further advises for you to understand. For me and in my own point of view, you can buy directly bitcoin or any other crypto or alternate coins that are promising for me, and then if you are not in a hurry just keep it inside your wallet maybe someday it could be worth double or more than you have invested, but if you are much likely like a day trader you can search guides on how to make some TA for your own entry and exit points.

I think if you want the mining cloud you must calculate the costs incurred and the results will be accepted if profitable so do it, in addition you can invest in some altcoin that has the popularity and development of a good long term like bitcoin, until now has reached $ 4000 and I'm sure the next few years bitcoin prices will be increase.  :)

If you have experience in trading crypto currencies you earn on the stock exchange more and faster. If you have no such experience, you'd better to buy equipment for mining coins. Only with such a budget it will be very difficult to earn enough coins to regard it as income. Carefully count and make allowances for unforeseen expenses. Only then make a decision.

maybe for the crypto mining capital is still lacking. because the cost is expensive and the electricity that you have to pay each month goes up. you should buy a coin directly for you invest. sara recommends bitcoin as your long-term investment. you will get a lot of benefits from storing bitcoins. probably not today but in the future your money will be doubled. if you want additional income. you can use your bitcoin for trading .. buy at a cheap and sell it when expensive. I don't think you are going to do much with a 1000 USD investment when it comes to mining, at least any of the bigger coins. The way to benefit from mining with a modest hashrate is to mine a coin that's under the radar and ends up blowing up, but honestly at some point you become lazy to keep mining every altcoin under the sun hoping that you luck out by holding the right one at the right time.

You are probably better off going 60% BTC, 40% altcoin speculation hoping to catch a nice pump and make some extra BTC for the long term. Remember that BTC is the only safe bet to get rich long term.

I think you should invest half of your amount in Bitcoin and other half in ethereum. You can expect a profit in near future without any doubt since both coins are very progressive.

If you want to start mining, then you should order some Miners and start mining, but for a noob I would advise first study about what you are going to start and then put your money in it as you can easily loose that money. And if you want to buy crypto then from a general prospective just buy and hold bitcoins only for now, or maybe start trading with those after gaining more experience.

That is surely a huge amount of money. You may want to invest that to Bitcoin since its value is continuously rising. Also its market demand and market value are way high compared to other coins. Don't invest it in only 1 coin, for you to have a less risk investing in different coins is the safest choice. Its not that I hate bitcoin or something but as of now the value is static so I do not recommend it but for long term then its profitable then, I would recommend only ETH since it's getting some interest over investors.

Given the amount of money you have to invest I would suggest instead to purchase the cryptocurrencies that you think have LT potential (BTC, ETH, OMG, etc.) and sprinkle small amounts into smaller speculative plays to get larger potential payouts short term (IOC, XZC, etc.) just as a few examples not recommendations.Right now Bitcoin and other cryptos are going up as much as 200% per week. You want to own the coins and get them as quickly as possible.You should forget about mining all together and just use that $1000 to buy Bitcoin and other cryptos instead. Since your funds are low to invest in a lower value currency like Ethereum, I would also like to recommend that You should practice Investing with that currency or other currencies with lowest cost before you tackle on to bitcoin. Today due to the volatile behaviour of Bitcoin you can easily gain good returns comparing to other products just by holding it for few days. You aren’t going to do much trading with .24 btc. ;D

If you do mean about bitcoin mining then that amount of yours wont really be sufficient enough knowing that price of asic miners are expensive but somehow it would be possible on mining some altcoin which you can possibly able to buy some gpu rigs.If you arent knowledgeable on mining field then better to purchase that amount on some potential alts than hassling yourself.

If you're in China you might attempt to mine but otherwise, just buy the coin and hold. If you're not comfortable sitting on your bitcoins, just take a part of it and trade that. There at least you might be able to add a few more µBTC per trade.

Never spend Money on cloud mining lies, they're totally scammers. They never do mining. If you wanna start mining, you need bigger capital. Instead, directly buy coins from exchanger web sites. This is more guaranteed for you if you're long run player.

The best way to invest in cryptocurrency is divide your funds like 70:30 to buy bitcoin and ethereum right now. Current price of these coins still on the dips and will be rise again in this month, if you can wait at least few weeks, you can make another $1000.
I won't recommend to build your own mining rig as you will need more than $5000 to start and there's no guarantee you can make profits. And do not invest on cloud mining due to they offer long time taround 4-8 months to get ROI.

Mining and investing into some cloudmining services, no... Investing some larger sum of money in bitcoin, maybe. But if I were to invest into bitcoin I'd be doing it maybe 50% now since the price has corrected a little and the next 50% in november (btw you'd probably earn something untill the end of october with the price rising). Also, investing in ETH is not a bad idea at all and I'm thinking of taking a loan from the bank to invest in ETH.

Among the three options you mentioned, I believe buying cryptocurrencies is most feasible one.
The 99.99% of cloud mining sites are scam and rest 0.01% are nothing more than long-term investment platform while $1000 is too low for mining and it may not be remunerative.

It takes more than 1k to start mining and make it worth it.  I would recommend you learn to trade.  Invest your 1k and start trading.  Then when you make enough, maybe buy a mining rig then.

Crypto trading is good but at the present time why not invest 1000USD directly in bitcoins. The bitcoin value is near 4600$ and it will soon reach out to 5000$ + and currently it is best investment.  Currently all the alts are down and we cannot say when they will again begin to rise. I dont see them rise again unless the BTC price stabilizes.

Maybe you should make more research and try to know what’s happening in the bitcoin platform before investing, cause I believe there is likely to be a split on November. $1000 is very big amount of money. I think you should invest it in the trading because for sure you can generate big amount of profits in trading. There are many altcoins nowadays that are really full of potential in the market and it is good for investments.

I would wait a little longer before investing If I were you OP because many of the coins in the market is overpriced IMO. you should just wait for things to go down in price before ever investing in them. It would also be good to buy your own setup and mine yourself rather than cloudmining because cloudmining is not that reliable since these type of sites always ends up as scam. Even if you dont profit on a coin, you can still profit from another via mining so it would be very profitable to invest in mining with your own setup. With a 1000$ im sure you can set up a good equipment to use for mining.

You can take a start by investing it and you can keep on adding more amount in it after certain period of time. And this will give you much profit than any other business could ever give you.

its good that you ask here first because investing really risky and specially 1000 US dollars are big amount of money. For me it is better for you to spread your money in many cryptocurrencies so that if ever one of them will crash you will not loose all your money instantly and some of your investment also may gain big. I would strongly recommend Bitcoin, Monaco coin, and edgeles if you like. But do more research for you to have the best decision.

You can not make your own setup and start mining at just $1000, at least not bitcoin. Cloud mining is a big no, besides the fact that most of the sites are ponzi, you will hardly profit anything if you find a legit site. Best option probably is to buy some BTC abd hold them, btc is best for long term holding. You can also try some altcoins, especially ETH is quite popular that might earn you some profit in shorter run.

I do not prefer investing in cloudmining as this may not gives a profit in the long run. It is best to invest of your money in cyptocurrency and most especially btc. It's value will may increase and holding for a long term would give a huge profit.

Aside from Bitcoin, investing into a good altcoin can bring in more possible returns. But the caveat here is the word "good" as finding one can be a bit confusing since there are so many choices as we are right now swimming in a sea of new ICOs and already established coins. One of things I am looking at is investing in a token type of ICOs which are involved in other big cryptocurrencies and also possibly involved with trading cryptos. That can be a good choice to look into.

As always, we have to be careful with our choices as many of these new projects can just be masqueraded by scam artists whose purpose is just to get our money and then later on they would just dump the project until it rots leaving all investors just holding empty containers. In fact, scam artists are right now having a field day celebrating because they now also found a very good platform to launch their schemes to victimize others.

I think the safest way is to buy butcoin directly using your money, stay away from cloud mining because most of them are scammed, it wont give you any profit at all, mining is not too profitable anymore, the best way is to save your coin or do trading with the coin you bought

yes you can lose but base in this few years the bitcoin is 20x now so invest in bitcoin,me i only start here a few months ago but the price of bitcoin now is 2x so think positive,its possible that you will lose your money but its possible also your money will become a 2x also a chance is so big to become big so invest in bitcoin

You should definetely buy some coins and just HODL (hold ;) ) them. You might even trade with them on a daytrade base after you have become more familiar with the Topic.

Its no longer profitable to set up a solo mining. And even if you buy a good hardware the cost of electricity is higher and it will just negate the 'profit' if ever you got. I'm not sure about cloud mining though, not all of them are scam. But a lot has been popping out lately and turning to be a scam. As far as crypto currency in concern, bitcoin will be the logical choice to invest because the price keeps going. But I advise you diversify your portfolio as well, so you need to buy altcoins like ETH, XRP, LTC and others. Well, I think you can try to buy Mining rig, because as far as I know Price of it was in between 200$ to 500$, at least you already have 100% bitcoin profit that will produce to you daily, then the remaining 500$ invest it in cryto altcoin, like Xem, Waves, Eth, Maid, Bay, then Bitcoin of course.

$1000 will not give you a good mining tools that can result in good return for your investment as mining is now very expensive. Cloud mining companies on the others hand is good but you will find it very difficult to find a reliable mining company as most of them are scam site. I would advise you to invest your $1000 into altcoins that are currently doing well. Coin like ethereum,  litecoin, and wave are going to be great in future and investing in them now may result in millions of dollars in future.

All form of income that you said was good it is just about the risk in taking back your investment, in mining maybe 1,000 will do but the return of investment will take same as with cloud mining, with trading some bitcoin or altcoins will take a greater risk but greater in return also.

Decide for yourself what will you want to do with your $1000 if you want a safe yet takes time or you want big profit yet risky one.

Either of mining or trading is risky and it depends on how the person will take care of that risk if he will do it with care or not. Even mining is a good way to make money because once you built a good and stable mining rig then it is already a passive income and it is suited for the people who don't have time for doing cryptocurrency matters while trading is good for determined people who want to make money almost everyday and get a possibility to earn higher amount of money than the miners.

It was advised against the cloud mining earlier in this thread and I agree with that. Investing $1,000 in cloud mining you will return half of your money in 6 months in the best case scenario, but you will hardly return all your money let alone get any profit. That's how cloud mining sites work. I think most of them don't even bother to mine, creating a pyramid scheme and scamming the users.

You may be right but I’ll suggest otherwise. If you want to invest 100$, go for Bitcoin and try to make out as maximum as possible out of it with your good knowledge and smart decisions.

There are many good altcoins actually, especially that still on ico, i know some good ICOs that i'm sure the price of that altcoin will increase in the future. It's for long term investment though, if you invest your 1000 USD on that ICOs, it will increase in the next 4-5months or more, depend on the market and the dev too.

Try to find anykind advices like this, if you get more than 10 say "ethereum will profitable", go for it. Don't see their rank, watch their analitics and make your own researches

Cloud Mining will surely give you a headache it better for you to study trading as it is the best way to make profit for a short period of time.

Well, that's a huge amount of money. I would suggest you to directly buy Bitcoin and hold it for a long period of time. Investing into Bitcoin is less risky compared to trading. How will you earn profit by just holding Bitcoin? Bitcoin is volatile, its market value is increasing as time passes by due to market demand. Its market value is directly proportional with its market demand such that if the demand increase, its value will also too. And as its value is increasing, the profit that you will earn will also increase.

I think its a good idea. Because bitcoin is still growing. But what i would do is wait for the value to drop and then buy som crypto.

Current price of bitcoin consider as cheaper than $5000, few days ago bitcoin even dropped to $3800 but it seems persist above $4000 right now. For long term investment, bitcoin always be the best choice compare to altcoins. Because bitcoin could rise over 400% within a year and not easily to be dumped due to many people hold it.
To build a mining rig require more than $1000 obviously and it's not an easy job to set it, and get profit. On the other hand, cloud mining is an easy way to mining but it takes a long time to get ROI which is better and faster if the funds invest in an ICO or altcoins.

Starting $1000 is really good. My first investment was $200 and I can say that I am lucky because my $200 became $1000. My skill is the reason why I earned 400% of my invesment.

Ethereum is a safe bet with pretty fast profits. Its been above 400USD and lurking around 300USD now, so should'nt take long for it to catch up with a new ATH  ;)

Having 1000$ to invest will be a good start. I think buying and holding strategy will be more profitable since Bitcoin's market value is increasing as time passes by. You'll wait for dumps to take place before buying Bitcoin. And then hold it and wait for its price to rise and become high. Sell it if the price is already high then repeat the procedure to make earning profit, continuous.

Most cloud mining are scams so stay away from it. Mining with $1000 usd? Not sure if that is enough, the prices for mining items alone has risen tremendously, 5000 usd might be quite enough to get your own best items for the best prices. But, it is difficult to setup a mining rig because most of it are sold out or too expensive. I cannot see into the future, if I could I would buy 5000 BTC when it is cheap. So, the lesson is do your own research first before you get into cryptocurrency. Do not ever be a FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) and diversify you altcoin portfolio.   

Investing 1000SD is not enough increase your budget up to 5000SD TO invest in the BTC And join the community of cryptocurrency investors by which you will gain huge profit dint get into the hands of scammers there is no such low investment nowadays the only major one is BTC and you should invest in it.

The best coin for long term profit is bitcoin, no other coin that is better on this coin and next to it is ethereum so if you want to have a better profit choose bitcoin. What I know in my small knowledge is Mining is not profitable for all.If your country's electricity bill is high then you should not mine.Because you will lose your all capital fast.So If this happen, I will suggest you to buy some alt crypto with $1000.We can see many promising and bright crypto like ETH,LTC, ripple and others.Buy at low price and sell when the price goes up.Though it's risky but if you give proper time and hard work you can make big profit from it.
