Title: How is your portfolio looking after this hit?
Post by: Poink on September 04, 2017, 05:49:20 PM
Disclosure.  I am a 2 month newbie in cryptoworld.

In the short time, my investment tripled at one point (yep 200% gains)...now it is barely above where I started.  I know it will bounce back strong but still shocking to see all your gains (and hard work) "gone" in a few days.

How is yours???

well you actually have lost nothing unless you have sold, right? in these type of days, i tend to not look at the numbers cuz this is a phase. in a week or so, its all green again

That is why the "gone" (in quotes).

I did not sell anything...on the contrary, I bought more.  I see these as opportunities and anticipating the rebound. :)

Man, my portfolio looks a little bit bloody right now. That was a massive leg down for the most trader. But I am going to buy my own blood so I dont care :D I know my bags are going to moon in the future and I will make some nice profit

Same as before. Such high and downs are normal if you have some years experience in crypto :D I only reduced my Ethereum stake because I think that the demand will be lower in the near future. The coin was much used for ICO investing. A big part of all ICO tokens for the last months was issued on the Ethereum platform what required to invest in Ether. I used the received BTC to invest in hard dumped coins like IOTA.

Your approach is definitely a good one but I came to this game late and can't afford to rely on BTC appreciation alone.

I am new but I've seen what choosing a good alt coin can do growth wise.  Higher risk but it can be managed...if done properly.  I am still learning and diving in (rather the safe bet of keeping BTC) taught me a lot.  It is actually FUN!!! :)

BTW, I am envious of your "Millions". :)

Bloody very very bloody but I'm not selling any of my coins yet so I haven't lost anything. I actually consider this current hit as a time to collect more coins so my portfolio is getting bigger at the moment  ;D

I Enter my Friday values into a spreadsheet to track them .... I'm down 26% from last Friday, but still up 3% since the previous Friday.

My internal rate of return since I started investing in May (XIRR for the excel junkies) is 985% ...

I can live with that.  Hopeful this round of bleeding has stopped.

I am more of a holder. I have a couple of coins waiting to be back to black. The rise didn't do it so now back in very red. The other few I am waiting for at least 50% so did not manage to sell anything. I only properly bought some alts also two months back. And one month back. Was too scared when I first started although with this "shock" I might take another coin.

I have recently lost around 400$ but it's OK, I will keep trying to win , I think that losing is normal in this domain you have to get the risk some time

now I checked my portfolio and see it decreased only 2.5%
I bought a lot in dip today, maybe that is why I survived this slaughter

Yeah I am pretty sure that is what saved you  ;D, because a slaughter it was.
Let's hope we're on the way back to 5k again.

Most of the positions I built in the beginning of this year are still green. But all those positions I openend in the euphoria phase are extremely bloddy. If you have some BTC left, buy the dip and be happy in the end 2017 rally. I, for my part, will do that and hope it will bounce back stronger than it fall first.

Stabilized and slowly creeping back up for now. Hopefully we're bouncing back up tonight instead of consolidating and going down further...

I think its normal, I also experienced what happened to you. You should just wait for your coins to grow, you technically lost nothing if you still haven't sold your coins for the time being.

since last Friday evening -27% and overall -18% on my initial investment, so I bought in late at the top of the market  ::)

But I don't care, don't need the money and invested in quality coins like BTC, ETH, LTC, XRP and XMR for the long term so it should be fine

It went down around -%20 but I don't mind it. All I had was strong altcoins so I will wait for new pumps. I sold nothing. Seeing all red is something usual in cryptocurrencies. And that China ban was bad.

I sell all when hear about China block ICO last week. The crypto market is small so any bad news will make a punch to market

Bought some cheap EOS tokens, and my portifolio had taken a very heavy hit recently.

Seeing on my portfolio? Then they are bloody red on which i did really lose big amounts of bucks but i didnt panic and just tending to HODL still.I know this is just a temporary dip and price would eventually goes up again after this News. This is the thing that traders or investors do experience on price fluctuations which is really normal into a unpredictable market.

My portfolio is pretty diversified (10-15 coins). My lost is around 20% respectively to the 1st September. It's just correction occasionally coinciding with fundamentals about China. There is no growth without falls.

I reviewed my charts...because my investment is NEO heavy, my portfolio swings are a bit extreme.

At one point I had 250% gains (not 200%)
Before the down turn it is around 140% gains
At the worst point...almost zero gains (that is about 55% loss :O )
Today, it is at 65% gains

Looking forward next week, where I hope to see the 200%+ gains back :)

** I made some adjustments to my portfolio the past few days and diversified more (18 coins total).  Added investment and bought some coins at really good prices. :)    Still NEO heavy but I like it much better now.

I have a few more coins from selling and rebuying, but less $ value. Once the prices return to previous values I'll have gained.

This "hit" is a joke. It is only a hit if you buy high while instead, you should be buying low and selling high. Like I have said before, this hit is nowhere even close to where the market is 2-3 months (60-90 days) back. You should maybe start panicking if the market is like back then (assuming once again you don't buy high and sell low) but even so, after a crush there's only one way up.

my profit for 5 months was 600 percent. But I think that it is not enough.

Fortunately, this "hit" is not affecting much since most of the coins' prices are rising. And I am lucky to manage to buy the dips.

Dipped a lot, but I've been just buying more from this "sale" and now all but one are red. I don't get why people panic when something like this hits, but I'm happy for it because of all the gains I will be making from their actions.

Mine is on blood bath but I've been holding my coins for long time and bought them cheaper at its price now so I am still on profit. I still don't want to look at my portfolio as of now though so I try to stay away from it every time this kind of situation happen to avoid panic.

Well, I had more than 150% gains recently but dropped to just 10% and I know its very low compared to what I would have got if I had sold. But still am happy because the price will get back to a higher point and I will not miss this time.
