Title: 🏈🏈🏈NFL Survivor Pool - PICKS DISCUSSION 🏈🏈🏈
Post by: krach on September 06, 2017, 07:56:55 AM
There are several NFL survior pools. Let`s talk about our picks every week.

Here is a list of the two free pools I found:

Bitcoinrush
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2151885.0

Nitrogen
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2070676.0

Do you know any more free pools?

My main Survivor pick of the week is Philly to beat Washington. I think Washington could have a rough start of the season, and maybe a horrible season overall. I think Philly can win the division.

Nice links, thanks for sharing!

I'm not in the least well-versed with NFL but no one can watch Hollywood without knowing some of the big names in American Football. As you can't pick the same team for following weeks, I'm going to go on tight bookie odds for my first few rounds, leaving the "giants" towards the end. I like the pickings for the very evenly matched Cardinals vs Lions so my first week's pick will be Arizona Cardinals. It's one of the first games also, so I'll find out very quickly if I'm around for Round 2!

Also guys, the Bitcoinrush free pool needs your picks by Thursday 5pm EDT so don't forget to lock in your picks.

First time I have seen these types of promotions. The rules seem a bit confusing to me. Is this like a knockout tournament? I thought football was played over one season against each other or do they make it differently for this time? If I join the pools later on, will it still be available or is the deadline tomorrow?

There's a NFL pick em' contest hosted on SBR (sports book review) forum every year which pays out something like $40,000 in prizes. Its known as their "beat the prick" competition.

@ sportsbookreview.com

I think to be eligible to win prizes from the contest a person needs to pay $100 for membership which comes with a number of perks in terms of the site hosting prizes which can be redeemed for sbr points.

I know one more free pool from the sportsbook subreddit. They use the same system from Nitrogen's nfl survivor pool too bad it's already closed now. link (https://www.reddit.com/r/sportsbook/comments/6we7c2/rsportsbook_nfl_survivor_pool_2017/) of the thread. There's another nfl pool from anybet they were giving out free entries 3weeks ago here (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2109511.0) but now it'll only cost you 0.0001 to enter.  My early pick right now is for the Patriots to win on Thursday against the Chiefs.

Im also in it.
Its very interesting competition that makes you also think in long term because you cant pick the same team twice.
I make a lot of researches before I pick a team for the following week.

This was the confusing thing for me but I think I understand the concept now. If you pick a good team that you know must win, then you can move on to following round and so on but if you reach the final and that team is there then you won't win because you cannot pick it again. So, the strategy is clear to me. You have to risk the beginning rounds to make it into the middle. If you survive to the end you can pick the winner.

Yes it is a knockout contest. The deadline is today.

My basic starting/default strategy each week will be to pick from among whoever is playing against: Cleveland Browns, San Francisco 49ers, New York Jets or Jacksonville Jaguars. In that order. Even better if the team I pick is playing at home against one of these shit teams. As the season progresses, I'll look for other shit teams to reveal themselves and add them to the list.

If I still don't have a good pick after with the above strat, I will just look for the worst match up I can find that favors a team I haven't picked yet.

I was having a hard time on how to lock my pick on bitcoinrush. Took me a while before I found how because the page doesn't lead you to anything other than registering on to different pools then when you sign up it only says one entry allowed per user. For those who are having the same problem as me just visit this link (https://www.bitcoinrush.io/secure/pools/choose-team) bookmark it, unfortunately bitcoinrush doesn't have a shortcut button for it.

90 people picked Patriots in the Free Pool, so yesterday's shock loss should have killed off about 20% of the competition... except in the statistics page it shows that there are 377/430 players left. So not sure how the numbers are tallied or if I misunderstood calculations. Hoping the same thing doesn't happen in my game, although I did pick the slight bookie favourite.

Interestingly, Patriots were also joint favourites in the 25mBTC pool, but Bills are #1 choice in the 5mBTC pool.

Or is it possible they allow re-entry into the pool up until a certain week if you get knocked out early?

I picked Buffalo this week. Buffalo sucks ass, but the Jets suck ass ten times harder. I mean, when you are a +9 pt underdog to Buffalo, you know you are a horrendous team. Using Buffalo this week will give me more available options down the line.

Which free pool are you guys talking about? The one on nitrogensports or bitcoinrush? Re entry won't be allowed on nitrogen's free pool afaik. Patriots buried me real hard last week , 3 of my free pool entries got rekt only left with one now.

I was talking about NitrogenSports. Yeah, I've never heard of re-entry into survivor pools. That would defeat the purpose. Anyway, another possibility could be new entrants joining after the first week was completed (even after many were eliminated). On the NitrogenSports Survivor Pool page, all the different pay pool levels, including the free pool, have the "Join Pool!" button on them even though the first week of games is completed.

And according the the FAQ below the pools:

Can I enter more than once?
You can absolutely buy into the paid pools more than once! However, you can only submit one entry into the free pool.

Anyway, I'm only in the free pool for Nitrogen. Still alive and I picked Baltimore this week. They should easily win at home against Cleveland. Baltimore looks to have a harder schedule this year so might as well use them now.

What's the prize on the twitter secret pool ? Is it same with the public free pool 0.5btc or a big free bet?

-snip-
That would be great if that's possible. I already tried it before and there's no way to join on nitro's paid pools.
If you want to join another nfl pool, anybet is opening a pool for this week but with a 0.0001 buy in. Worth joining imo since there's only 6 entries with a 0.018 btc prize.

Can you believe that game? Brady yet again with the last minute heroics. How many times have we seen him complete the final drive of a game for the big win?

One pre-game model had him 22/36 with 268 yrds.
He ended the game 25/35 with 378

Not the huge win as predicted, but still impressive stats from a guy that is... how old? Who cares. He's Tom Brady.

'Grats on your survivor win.

There were a fair number of upsets this weekend. I'm still alive in the NitrogenSports free pool thanks to Green Bay barely squeaking out a win in overtime against Cincinnati. Looks like a lot of close match-ups for next week. Not sure yet who I'll be picking.

Yeah the matches this week was crazy never thought a couple of them would get that close between a 3-6pt win. Some of the favorites this week failed to cover the spreads.

One survivor model we follow has the Seahawks as the pick this week. Following around the hapless Indianapolis Colts isn't a bad strategy this year. Without Andrew Luck, they seem to be content to have a terrible season, grab a nice pick in the draft, and try again next year.

Yeah, I'm leaning towards taking Seattle Seahawks as my pick this week. Seattle is looking shaky, especially on offense. If this is how they are going to be through the rest of the season, picking them now when they play at home against a struggling Colts team is probably the best bet.

In my suggestion and views you are right somehow if i bet on Struggling Colts team then i know that i will win that so i will bet on struggling colts because they are looking in good and i know they will take the game.

That's huge, maybe they picked panthers to win no one expected them to lose like that. On the reddit free pool only 50+ people where listed out from the pool reducing the participants from 200+ to 150+ users.

The lucky ones are those who are still alive on the bitcointalk pool only 7 of them remain now.

When looking at the fantasy data for the weekend, one model has Ezekiel Elliot with 22 carries for 101 yards. We just have to like Dallas with him projected to give them that kind of a boost.

Steelers also look like a play with Antonio Brown projected to go off for 7.2 catches and 98 yards. We have a model with him getting a carry and averaging 3 rushing yards as well :P

Similar play with Cincinnati & AJ Green modeled to top 100 yards.

I have 2 pools left, this week I went with Bucaneers and Jaguars. I dont like NYG on the road, I dont like them as all, untill they can show they have gotten things together. Jets won at home, played the best game that they have in a while, regression is a bitch, I think jags defense will be too much for them, I like the under in that game too.

Starting to like the Steelers more as Antonio Brown's predictions have risen all week.  Projected at over 100 yards now on multiple models.

By the same logic Dallas is in for a big day from Elliot, over 100 yards projected for him on multiple models as well.

For me, I will be betting Monday night game of chiefs vs the redskins. Kansas City is on fire this year, not only is the defense still playing well but the offense has showed up with some big play makers. I'll take Kc -7

Picking the jags is a bit scary when looking at the head to head history against the Jets. The last time they won against Jets is way back 2009. I still think jags are more likely to win though.

My pick today is Vikings they have an avg score of 30 at home and doesn't let the opposing team score more than 20. Don't know much about the players so i'm basing my picks on stats.

Well the vikings lost that detroit defense was too strong i'm already out of my last pool. It was a bad run for me I should've spread my picks wider than focusing it all on one favored team. Couple of upsets happening right now pats, falcons, cowboys. Expect more people will be taken out of the pool because of this.

That last second field goal..

NFL has the most variance. From week to week, we get a clearer and clearer picture of the skill sets on each team, but the sheer variance of a 60 minute football game makes it so anything can happen.

Models and predictions surrounding the NFL are the least accurate. MLB baseball is down to a science, while NFL still seems to have some art to it.

Tonight's game we have Indy. Despite the terrible nature of the squad, the odds being offered on Indy were just too good to pass up. One can't expect to win this bet more than 1 in 4 times, but when offered 6-to-1 on the proposition, the smart money says to fire away.

690 runners left in the NitrogenSports free pool. I have the Pittsburgh Steelers locked in as my pick this week. Hopefully they can hold it down for me at home against the Jacksonville Jaguars. should be an interesting game with the two teams both looking to keep the lead in their respective divisions.

Well, I showed my extreme incompetence at NFL with my maiden entry into any sort of Survivor Pool comp when I crashed out at the 2nd Week. Can't even remember the team I picked (but I chose another underdog then). Checking on BitcoinRush, seems like just 73 players are left, so I guess we won't see a winner for at least 5 more weeks. Can't see stats for the paid pools, but I recall every pool lost more than half players due to the Opening Week upset.

My rather random pick for this week would be the Bengals to win at home.
