They have 2 cores, so cut that in half to compare with most cards. Also, they are selling from retailers for $600-700 USD (according to froogle).

The 6990's look to be the best bet as far as max hashing power per motherboard. You should be able to run 3-4 6990's on one computer (with a good PSU). However, you need to factor in the difficulty increases, cooling costs, and power costs when deciding how long it will take to break even.

Im selling at cost price as purchased at a high tag price already at $950 due to scarcity i guess.. Add shipping costs from $40 to $60 depending on continent ,and the astronomical fee of  $55 ebay charges for that sale
Anyone interested for a direct sale without ebay, i can trade the card for $990.

Using the 6990 is great to concentrate megahashes per slot on the motherboard. But at over $1.00 USD per MH, it can cost twice as much on a per MH basis than other cards. If you are not looking to stuff a single motherboard with as much power as possible, using a few 5830's or 6870's gives you more bang for the buck.

Comparing the 6990 to other similar mhash boards like two 6950/6970's:

-Consumes 375W at stock 450W in OC mode; two 50/70's consume 500W in total without any overclocking (much more if OC'ed)

-Better resale value

Any takers? i'm pushing the price down to $980 for a direct trade. Will ship for free.

Well, shipping isn't exactly 'free' as you say if you're including it in the price.  It's just included in the price...  ;)

If anyone here wants to waste $1000 on a 6990 I can drop ship you one.

The reason they're scarce is that they're no longer produced. Super high-end cards never sell very well so they only make so many. Since AMD is just about to release a new generation of chips the 6990 is going the way for the old 5970.

yep.. here is a good chart to look at (https://spreadsheets.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AsSwOT3E1XTGdGtpa1BQcmJLN2x6TG1MRmxzb29BeFE&hl=en_US&authkey=COWC8toK#gid=0).. based on the numbers the 5770 is the best miner for the dollar, with electricity included.
