Do you have any idea why the WORLD has so many religions and beliefs?

Why there are terrorism and calamities?  Do you think there is someone in control of all these?

A long time ago all the humans lived in Africa and they believed in demons and ghosts, as they spread around earth and developed different societies their beliefs started to change and each developed their own set of beliefs, language and with time even a race.
Get 20!people around you, seperate them in 4 groups and ship them off to different islands, think they'll have the same culture they had together previously?
Things change in different circumstances.

Terrorism exists because it is justified by the Quran and the invasion of the American army, some people believe it and justify it as it is justified in their holy scripture.

Calamities, urghh, they just happen, because we live in a world filled with them, it even has very few of those considering others whose calamities prevent life from even starting.

To the UK politicians if you say your into religion and you are a strong believer then it would be unlikely you will win any election because we know religious freaks are no good..

Yes... there are so many religions and sects in the world. But the diversity is declining day by day. The business minded religions such as Islam and Christianity are poaching on the smaller religions, such as Hinduism, Buddhism, Animism, and Taoism. May be after a hundred years or so, there will be only two religions remaining in this world.

Religion what was it good for?..

In the olden days you could go to a church and they would teach you to read helping you get a better

For religious stuffs , human beings are perfectly talented to use their imagination properly. For that reason, Ancient people created all the religious beliefs wit their beautiful mindset or else there is no holly stuff like god , angels etc. in reality. I think the best explanation about religions and beliefs is because we are diversified.

• History

When it comes to terrorism, religion and belief is out of the picture, because the terrorists are basing their actions through their personal agendas which we don't have any idea about. Those people are trying to make a point or wants to really cause commotions and war, which should be not tolerated at all.

When it comes to calamities, these are unforeseen and we all should be ready.

If there's someone in control of terrorism, yes, but for calamities, none except for those caused by human acts.

I think that the secret government controls religions, sects and terrorism. They said that they are concerned about too many people on the planet and maybe so they want to get rid of people.

Religion has long been turned into a profitable business. Of course there are a lot of people want to make money. They will never agree among themselves, so the competition between them sometimes comes to war. They can understand. I don't understand those who believe their fairy tales and gives them money.

Answer: because people make shit up.

The answer is simple, and can be seen even in this thread: the world has so many religions and beliefs because each person has his own opinion about something. Those opinion may be the same with other people but are in contrast with another. Differences in opinion leads a person to go with those people who shares the same ideologies that he/she has, in order to avoid rejection. And thus, a group will be formed. But most of the times, even under the same group, differences divide a group, creating another group. And this goes on and on and poof! It became koko crunch...along with many religions and beliefs.

There are so many religions and beliefs probably because of location, culture and influence.  I do believe that there's a supreme being out there but I also believe that it is not his fault for any negativity that is happening around us.  Thank you.

There are many religion because of different beliefs.  Some thought that this is the right thing and then some thinks that it is wrong.  And that would cause terrorism.  As to calamities, we are not in control of that but only the one who made us.  It is our God.  It is a way of teaching us to correct our wrongs.  That we become too abusive.

Religions and beliefs are man-made so it follows that there will be variance, especially between isolated cultures. Think of how different aesthetics can be.

As for terrorism, it has always been present where cultures clash and some supernatural shennanigans and group think can be used to justify it. Calamities on the other hand is part and parcel of living on Earth. As we say "shit happens".

We have so many religions because of many different cultures and traditions around the world.

In fact, terrorism exist since the beginning of humankind, nothing new here.

Most so called leaders of the Christian Religion are concerned with making money only, members of the Islamic Religion are ever growing because they just keep on having children and they don't even care for them and they become a burden on society.

Why is religions are exist?
- Because a lot of people has to believe things. Like other world, heaven, hell etc. If these people doesn't believe this things, they will be bad obviously.
Why world has so many religions?
- Because world has so many cultures. Can you tell all cultures needs are same, all cultures fears are same? That's why.

I agree with both parts of your argument. I have seen Christian clerics roaming around in Range Rovers and BMWs. Every now and then, they are demolishing the old churches and building new multi-million USD palaces, which can accommodate tens of thousands of people at the same time. And regarding the Muslims, they have been practicing demographic Jihad ever since the 7th century. That is how nations such as Kosovo, Bosnia, and Bangladesh became Islamic caliphates.

People have different beliefs because, and its ultimately, every person is unique. In that you have to consider different environments, and to that social dynamics and to that intelligence. I mean, take Catholicism, there different sects of that religion because their followers interpret these differently eventhough they read the same bible.

The calamities are natural and no connection to religions. Religions are made to control peoples beliefs. Judging your actions as good or bad. They are just crowdfunding organization that uses its members to get rich fooling them by using the word "hell" and "devil". I am an atheist and these are my opinions toward religions.

A few days back, he was asking for donations from hurricane Harvey victims, saying that they should give money to the "god" even if they are homeless and without food and clothes. Every person has different views on God and on religion. Because of this, the world is divided into many religions so that people can choose what they like.

May be one of the reasons. The ultimate aim of modern religion is to scare you and then extort money from you. Some of my friends are Christians, and I have seen them donating as much as 25% to 30% of their annual income to the churches. If the fear is not there, then who will give that sort of money to these churches?

Religions are created because of humanities needs for an answer for all questions that cannot be solved scientifically. A very cliche question is, Who created us? Where did we come from? This can not be answered scientifically, so I assume that people made different kinds of religion to satisfy their need for an answer. Many people created different kinds of religions not only to answer these questions but also guide people towards their behavior by providing them with beliefs that help maintain unity and peace through each individual in the society.

I don't think that someone is in control of having beliefs and religions. However, people are naturally curious which leads to their question of existence, thus resulting to different kinds of religions and beliefs. Terrorism happens when they want to imply what they believe to other people. Now, calamities happen because of the change that we brought upon this world.

I think this is all because of their curiousity and longing to fill the void in their heart and answer all their questions in life resulting to their attempt to find God and so form many religious and belief.

Its a matter of what ther parents and there older root of there family gave that some times is just a beneficial cause why they going in that relegion but no matter what learn to respect what others religion and beliefs

The world has many religions and beliefs because people have different mind set , also experiences because of experiences it leads to people to believe in different way. In religion  there are a lot of religions more than a million, this is due to different experienxes, thought and mind set. I think here even the climate can have its effect. People of Africa believe in Gods that sell them thunger and rain, Europenians are just seeking an escape in religion.

Definitely I think that God is one for all religions, that's only every religion is a treatise of the teachings of God in its own way. And that's why we have so many different directions, even Christians.

There so many religion and beliefs because all religion and beliefs are wrong, so whenever you put people in different places they start to evolve wrong religion and beliefs.

Very soon, there will be only two (Christianity and Islam). All the other religions are losing followers to these two religions. Even here in India, a lot of Hindus are converting to Christianity and Islam every year. And it is the same everywhere. In Nepal, there were only around 50,000 Christians in 1991. Now the number is close to 1,000,000. More than half of the Indians in Trinidad are now Christian.

Well as we all may notice, we're not living in the same country or even the same continent. Thr world is a vast diversity of different cultures and races with different origins and beliefs so it's just logical that we don't share one religion.

Rather than a simple tale, it is a myth invented by some very intelligent people to control the others. With the oriental religions such as Buddhism, Hinduism, Taoism and Shintoism, it is not that evident. But it is much evident in the Semitic religions such as Islam and Christianity.

I believe that what ever the religion we have rïght now is n0t important because god looks for every heart n0t to our different religion.. God is in control in every calamities or what ever.. Always put our trust in god..

we do have different religions and beliefs because of how big and vast this world is. but one thing is for sure, we are all have one God, we may be calling him in different names but we all have one God.

My idea is because we have different belief when it come to salvation of everyone. even in time of Jesus Christ there is already many religion and no one say that my religion is bad they always saying my religion is good and right. but according to bible there is no other name under heaven given among men where most be save except Jesus Christ. (acts 4:12) and the book of John 14:6 Jesus said I'am the way the truth and the life, no one can comes through the Father except through me...religion is good but sometimes religion produce only division to the people.

If you read Bible, book of Genesis, you will understand that in the beginning, in the Garden of evil, we had only one culture, tradition and language.
After human fall, people separated from the God and start to fight.
Conflicts created more divisions, and eventually people started to create own cultures, traditions, faith etc.

Religion was invented by man and since there are a lot of people in the universe, its not surprising that there are a lot of religions especially since everyone has their concept of the God that they worship.

The existence of so many religions in this world and the claim that all religions lead to God are clearly confusing to many people, who earnestly seek the truth about God.
Usually they feel desperate for the possibility of whether they can get the absolute truth about the topic.

Finally, they embrace the universalist claim that all religions lead to God.

I believe in God, yes. God created the entire universe,earth, all things in heaven and man. But the real purpose of these why He created these to Glorify Him, but satan destroy all these things that is why God threw satan in the world. The world has so many religion and beliefs because man is created with the nature of finding the logical reasoning as to its own existence.

Religion is guidelines to live, so I think reasonable if many differences guidelines in life.

I am indonesian, in my country there are 5 religions that are officially recognized by the government, and in my country, all people are free to choose their religion without any discrimination on the minority.

Not good enough. What about the minority religions? There are forest tribes in Indonesia, who follow their own religion. But they are forced to convert to Islam or Christianity, as the government does not recognize their religion. They can't get national ID cards, if they don't convert.

In my thoughts there is only one God, but mankind influenced by elders and human believes it, and we as a mankind can't forced our beliefs to the other, because every people had it own right.

It is in nature of man to be ordered and to have someone to lead them. Now, it began when no one was there to lead them and there's always that opportunistic person who wants to take advantage of the situation when all hope is lost for having no purpose, no one to follow and no where to go. In the end, that opportunistic person will be successful in making others believe what he or she wants. It happened a lot of time in history.

I think that all diversity because people are different and have different tastes, that's why there are so many things that everyone can choose something suitable for themselves

As we are moving towards having only two religions (Islam and Christianity), that diversity is getting lost. Even here in India, I can see before my own eyes how different tribes are losing their culture once they are getting converted to Christianity. The missionaries forbid them to sing their traditional songs and they are not even allowed to do ancestor worship.

A large portion of the world population no longer believes in the religion in to which they were born. A large percentage has become non-religious, and in countries such as Australia and New Zealand, non-religious people are about to become a majority. Another large portion has converted to a religion, which is different from their parents' religion.

The same reason for which people are greedy.

You are absolutely right about it. Countries with the highest IQ levels (South Korea, Japan, China.etc) are mostly atheist and the people there doesn't give much importance to the western business-minded religions such as Islam and Christianity. On the other hand, the low IQ nations (especially those in the middle-east and sub-Saharan Africa) are usually ultra-religious.
