I've never actually had any issues with ICOs and in all fairness there is a fair amount to be made if you want/can put some time into helping with the bounties. also i then invest a small amount and see what the performance is like. if i feel as though not enough has gone into the development/marketing then i have the option to sell out at release. As for investing in ICOs, I don't really know about that, but seems like it was all about profit. Well, I'm more like a day trader. I wouldn't hold my alts for a really long time since I tend to panic if the price fall like crazy. Title: Re: Do you invest for long term or short term gains? Post by: Vervesh on September 08, 2017, 02:15:07 PM Depends on whether you prefer to invest in coins or ICOs. It's very rare to get short term gains from ICOs, but they might bring you the highest profit.
It's great to get short term gains on trading, but often traders loose faster than they can invest, as the market is highly volatile. I stick with ICOs. Find the idea I believe in and wait for my profit :) Title: Re: Do you invest for long term or short term gains? Post by: coingrow on September 08, 2017, 02:17:50 PM Depends upon the type of altcoin that I am trading. Also I use TA to make decisions. Coins that have good fundaments, I invest in for a long haul. For other shitcoins I usually play swing trading.
Title: Re: Do you invest for long term or short term gains? Post by: AleSergio on September 08, 2017, 03:28:15 PM Deffinetly it depends on the different types of altcoins, some altcoins you need to hold for a longterm because their platforms will apppear in future and it will get this coin to the moon. On the other hand some coins is better to hold for long term, because they can simply fall down in price.
Title: Re: Do you invest for long term or short term gains? Post by: Ayers on September 08, 2017, 03:37:56 PM it depend on the coin, but i like to invest for mid terms most of the time, but if i see real potential i can change my mind and invest for long term, short term is not for me
Title: Re: Do you invest for long term or short term gains? Post by: aoluain on September 08, 2017, 03:44:55 PM I think most people are doing the same as the OP
Holding some coins long term and trading others or portions of the same for the short term! Myself I am holding Bitcoin of course and some old reliable alt's for the long term. and I am also trading on and off the same types of coins. Title: Re: Do you invest for long term or short term gains? Post by: Kidmat on September 08, 2017, 03:55:34 PM Actually it depends on your goal to reach a profit in investing ICO's. Because once you invest on a coin you will verify its roadmap and if it has a good project that worth investing for a long term or short term. In a short term you might get a little profit on a short period of time. So you will balance your trading term for a long or short term gains.

Title: Re: Do you invest for long term or short term gains? Post by: bob3772 on September 08, 2017, 04:26:28 PM Personally I see 'investing' and 'trading' as two different things, for me 'investing' is buying a coin for the longer term and holding it until it reaches a set value whereas 'trading' is short term, buying a coin and intending to sell it in a very short period of time for a small gain.
Title: Re: Do you invest for long term or short term gains? Post by: okissabam on September 08, 2017, 04:33:01 PM I mostly invest for long term whether it is an ICO token or an altcoin or bitcoin for that matter. My perception is since I already placed a capital for that certain coin then why not go for long term instead of short term and as long as I don't need the money yet then it'll stay there for a while.
Title: Re: Do you invest for long term or short term gains? Post by: sylance on September 08, 2017, 04:36:51 PM I'm a mixture of both; I store about 70% of my crypto in Bitcoin, Litecoin, Ethereum, and Dash. Then I have about 30% of it in an exchange with a trading bot (Gunbot) going after short term volatility. And of course, I'm keeping all my DeepOnion from the signature campaign for a long term... which surprisingly is quickly becoming my largest holding!

Long term with Ark as crypto is still young. This is so true. I hop from one coin to another for short term gains if I do not care for the project. I hold the ones I like for the long term. Ark is up there for me as a good 5 year HODL. Title: Re: Do you invest for long term or short term gains? Post by: Argoo on September 08, 2017, 04:46:58 PM I think that the majority invests in the crypto currency for a long-term perspective, as it does not take into account fluctuations constantly increasing in price. This is especially true of bitcoin. To invest in the short term, it should be conducted for some purpose, for example, for trading on the stock exchange. To do this, you need to have certain knowledge and skills, as well as time to monitor the situation on the exchange.

I think the majority of crypto investors trade for the short term. They don't invest for the long term. That explains why there are so many coins. Traders don't care about the merits of the coin, as long as there is volume and volatile prices, they just trade it up and down. Title: Re: Do you invest for long term or short term gains? Post by: TrueAnon on September 08, 2017, 05:34:59 PM I do both.
I started as a long-term investor but right now I'm using my profits to invest in ICO's to make more money. 50% of the money I make from ICO's is being reinvested in other ICO's or projects I like (mostly ICO's though to keep the flow flowing ;) ) and the other 50% stay there and become long-term investments. If you are looking for long term investment you need to invest on bitcoin and some most trusted altcoins according to its market value. Since, eth smart contracts and grown up enormously you do invest on those kind new ICO if you looking for short term profit. For long term profit bitcoin holding is the only way to become a millionaire. Title: Re: Do you invest for long term or short term gains? Title: Re: Do you invest for long term or short term gains? Post by: onrise on September 08, 2017, 06:24:17 PM I think I will do both also. Trade with some coins and -bank- the profits as I go along but overall I think I will mostly like to have bitcoin for when it is more widely available for buying everyday goods I do for both short term and long term. Short term profit is cashed out to meet my daily expenses and for routine work . this also helps me in leveraging if there is a fall in the market with profits cashed out some part I buy it back at lower price so that my average prices gets balanced and do incur too heavy looses if there is huge dip in some coins. Title: Re: Do you invest for long term or short term gains? Post by: johnwest on September 08, 2017, 06:27:24 PM As I dont get much time to keep tracks of my trade I dont invest short term for altcoins too. ICO's are meant to be long term investments. They are made for a purpose and if it is completed then the token will have very good value. So it is better in one way to hold them for longer term.
Title: Re: Do you invest for long term or short term gains? Post by: julslet84 on September 08, 2017, 06:34:11 PM i think same like most of people, its up to altcoin.
i prefer to invest Bitcoin and some altcoins for long term and invest some another altcoins for gain in short term. BUT, after that gain, i would add them to my long term investments. Some ICO's present solid projects, and if they have a solid team behind them it is worth investing it. Personally, for long term gain, I'll hold my bitcoin for as long as possible to see how far it will go. Title: Re: Do you invest for long term or short term gains? Title: Re: Do you invest for long term or short term gains? Post by: ruffles2016 on September 08, 2017, 06:48:08 PM I generally invest for not so short term gains. But I always share risk to be based some on long term as well. Long term investments are shared between secure coins and speculative ones. That's it.
Title: Re: Do you invest for long term or short term gains? Post by: artem6662 on September 08, 2017, 07:45:01 PM Short-term trading requires good trader skills and strong nerves, I think for beginners longer-term trading is more suitable, just hold good altcoins and wait for pump

Post by: danherbias07 on September 10, 2017, 05:37:09 PM There is a large percentage of investors who does that.
Just waiting for token sale then sell it back after the ICO. It is a good business but needs a lot of capital. It is also a risk which should be taken seriously. I think that is why China banned the ICO. There is too much scam in that service and they dont want their own people wasting money just so they could get robbed in an instant.
