Title: Be ready for more rumors and fud from China
Post by: stupid_seb on September 08, 2017, 03:31:01 PM
Reason is simple:

It has been TWICE that china got burnt on BTC, selling as low as $3,900 last weekend, and as low at $4,100 today.
Every time, BTC showed strong resilience and systematically went back up in the $4,400

Lots of Chinese traders lots money, and WILL want to make this money back... spreading FUD and fake news on BTC.

Just be ready... hodl or trade... but it will happen again.

China and its people are manipulating bitcoin. It's the nature of their culture. Secrecy and a few getting rich.

If youre an open minded person all that happenings on bitcoin and the rumors are all lie.  Dont be fooled by those fudders.
If you believe in bitcoin the best way to do in this time of fud is to hold your bitcoin.

Are they sneaky when they're in their ninja suits too? Your racism wasn't needed here. Also, isn't the point of communism the exact opposite of what you just said?

I agree, that's the most safest way if more rumors are to come connected with China and all that. And some are not even affected anymore with these news coming. I myself am getting ready and would still not really mind about these news whether they are true or not, I'd still hold my bitcoins despite the negative news.

FUD is always around in this market it is nothing to get ready for only now!
and it is not just FUD from China, although it seems FUD Chinese version is much easier to perform. you just spread some nonsense about them banning bitcoin for the 1000th time and it works seamlessly.

i believe instead of hating FUD we have to learn how to love it. just start buying whenever whales dump so that you are taking the cheap coins from whales not the opposite.

Everywhere we look at china really has a lot of products and equipment almost all Made in China. So surely with bitcoins as long as money is actually going to enter Chinese people. All the possibilities of the best are in them. Drugs, counterfeit equipment, fake food, and all that they can do for money

We have a social justice warrior in the thread. Go! You can do it! Fight for justice!  ::)

On a more serious note, I hope that more FUD will come towards the end of October. That would be great since it would be right before the possible hardfork on Bitcoin again when it possibly becomes 2x the blocksize. A lot of people on the forum have been saying all the news on Bitcoin has been FUD. I hope for all our sakes that they are right.

Actually, Ninjutsu is a Japanese martial art. The ninja, or shinobi, is not Chinese.

As said above, maybe one good strategy is to embrace the fud for a moment.
Either hodl at all costs and sail the waves... or "buy the fud, sell the hype" when you can.

FUD spreading is quite normal in crypto environment. People are often reacting to these that is why FUDs continue spreading around. This has been proven highly effective in somehow controlling or manipulating the reaction and eventually decisions of people in the market. The news about china is true. However, they are now padded with additional rumors to become hotter issues.

Its quite obvious that all these fuds are spreaded by chinese whales so they can full their bags before bitcoin shoot over $5k. All weak hands will loss money in long run, patience is key in crypto trading.

I am not following any news from china now after and will just buy some more bitcoin whenever I will get them cheap.

It seems that the Chinese bitcoiners are very intent on getting the price as low as possible so that they can buy all the bitcoins they can. This is more likely them controlling and manipulating the price so they can buy low and sell high when the price soars up again generating them lots of profits.

This time, the FUD didn't had much impact. The decline was around 10%, which was much more moderate when compared to the declines of up to 30% when this happened for the first time in 2013. Anyway we'll be better off with less influence from the Chinese. These people want to manipulate the exchange rates, just like they manipulate the CNY.

Agreed.
So far China is losing as a whole.
I am sure that, inside this losing hand, some whales or traders are getting profits. Therefore, I can only think about the Chinese minnows who get crushed selling at $4,000...

But so far, Asia is selling cheap, and Eur and Us are buying low.
Massive wealth transfers between continents.

Investors should get more infos on China and understand why the government is scared of digital currencies.
It leads to capital outflows from the country and speculation.

So there is a high chance that the Chinese exchanges will be shut down temporarily.

At the moment, the only country approving digital currencies is Japan. So investors should consider japanese coins like Monacoin as safer.

I am always ready for FUD, I love FUD. it is awesome you see the rise and then FUD comes, and when it does you can buy cheap coins from the gullible people who have no idea what bitcoin is. they deserve it until they stop being gullible and stop listening to the FUD.
and it is not just China FUD, it is all kinds. last month we had the fork/split FUD that caused lots of dips which I perfectly enjoyed.

Giving false alarm will only work for a few times.
And the response they get from the market is getting weaker every time.
I am wondering if the market can grow so resistant against bad news from China, that even in a real case it would not react with panic on it anymore.

Yeah , you are exactly right .
In the recent days or we can say in this week a full news of ICOs ban was popular and also going on discussion but few people made the misleading information in the social media to about the ban of the cryptocurrency with the ban of ICOs .
So here we can understand well about this that what few clever people want to do .
They want that people sell thier btc speedly and the price get down and after that they buy directly and can make easy earnings .
But still here it is our duty to make better discussion and clean discussion where everything should be legit like here and also we should oppose the rumers that are not exactly true that are going viral.
Well here china has the big Market of bitcoin and most of the miners are from china , so we can understand well that how the bitcoin market can effect but here everything is clear in the china about the use of the cryptocurrency , so we don't need to take any tension about the price because originality can never go down 8)

Yet all countries are capable on dealing with Bitcoin , it just the fact that China has the largest population becasue it is the largest country in the world. Hence, the development of Bitcoin still depends on how we people used Bitcoin in terms of transaction , investments and trading.

I highly doubt it.
You can clearly see a blatant absence of understanding of even the simplest economic or business logic in the forum...
I see more and more entrants (call them noobs if u want): 90% of them dunno shit about business. (10% are interesting).
I try a lot to have educated conversations on threads, putting numbers on the table, at least for discussion: only a few people get it, and the most common answer I get is: "you are an idiot, bc your profile name is stupid_seb"!! This coin to the mooooon!!!"

What can you expect from people who just look at the unitary coin price and don't understand MarketCap!?! :-D

Thus, I still see a strong volatility remaining,, because of the new entrants. As per China, there are a curse (volatility), but a blessing too bc they are one of the only reasons to make the BTC price raise: increasing the inbound money flow in the crypto economy.

Maybe in 2019 the markets will be more mature. Until then, it will remain idiocracy for the most part, hence huge volatility and blind faith in fud and rumors.

This has nothing to do with decentralization. This is just the market being a market. The China ban rumors bring uncertainty, and markets hate uncertainty, giving bears an edge. And I think that's what the PBOC wanted--to calm the market down while it mulls over regulations.

But no matter what any government does, it has no bearing on the protocol's decentralization. Panic sellers exist in all markets, whether the asset being traded is decentralized or not.

But where's the bottom of the dip? Here, or $1000 further down perhaps? :P

The current storm of FUD is far more brutal than I first anticipated. Initially, people in the know seemed not to take the rumors of the China exchange prohibition very seriously. But Jihan Wu, on Twitter today, spoke about it almost as if it were already fact.

Then add in the Jamie Dimon assault on Bitcoin...... and we got a real FUD stew going here now. I have some dirty fiat waiting on Coinbase for low $3000s, but I really can't tell yet if we'll even go below $4000. The FUD is so strong, but bears can't push the price down very much.

Ever since the news regarding China's ICO ban came out, a lot of other fake news came out along with it. Surely, it has affected some and created some fear and panic for bitcoin users which made them sell it impulsively.

The strong believers of Bitcoin continue to hold it despite news like this keep on spreading, they continue to have strong faith and won't anything discourage them.

China Internet Finance Association: Bitcoin Exchanges Lack ‘Legal Foundation’
A self-regulatory association in China focused on digital finance has issued a new warning on cryptocurrency trading activities.
In a statement, China’s National Internet Finance Association (NIFA) asserted that cryptocurrencies like bitcoin have become a tool for speculation among investors, while also serving as a payment conduit for illegal fundraising and money laundering. Although a self-regulatory organization and not a regulatory agency itself, NIFA was first initiated in 2015 by the People’s Bank of China and approved by the State Council. https://t.co/f1Hs17Pr3Z

Franckly... it can drop to $3,000 it if want to, as long as I continue to get alts like ARDR, SHIFT or WAVES on sale.
In the end, as long as I keep up with my BTC levels, or even increase them , I do not really care about the price of BTC in the short term.
->My only metric is the level of my portfolio in BTC.
FTR, I have a strong position in USDT yesterday, but I did not have the balls to keep it overnight.... I should have, but as said, my strategy is in BTC value, and this was a risky move I would have had taken.

It's about time. Aim 2018 and sail the rought seas of the "be(a)r" months of 2017.
The lowest the BTC, the more it looks like an opportunity for new entrants, making the market growing.

Everything that does not kill the monster will make it stronger:
1a- Banks say BTC is the enemy, I say "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" -> creates visibility and positive image to BTC
1b- Some banks embrace BTC: creates mass adoption

2a- China bans: everything that China bans ends up being a massive hit (Google, Facebook, ... BTC ?)
2b- China regules: AWESOME news! They need regulation.

3a- Japan, Russia, and more and more other countries are embracing btc.
3b- Other countries realize USD is a fraud --> good for BTC. The only real money with a true "proof of work" needed to create it (see McAffee CNBC interview)

check this:http://www.marketwatch.com/story/venezuela-reportedly-denies-dollars-for-oil-payments-after-us-sanctions-2017-09-14?siteid=rss

There is just one caveat... a bit one, but also an opportunity:
The "market" (people) on cryptos is SO FUCKING DUMB for the most part, that BTC could tank TWICE if the same news is given at 1 week interval!!

Ultimately, smart and patient people will make money from the impatient idiots.

Shop smart. It's on sale today.

BTCC is suspending trades on the 30th, BUT.

They stated its due to the recent ICO rules and NOT because the government has shut them down... I think people are overlooking this.

But what would you do honestly as a Chinese investor?

You might not be able to get your money out as FIAT if you don't do it now at least thats the fear going through the minds of the chinese.

Especially when you government is over controlling and extremely harsh when it comes to enforcing its rule.

I feel like china will prepare a set of rules and laws to make sure they can profit huge off crypto and then allow everything to continue will full legality creating the biggest gains we have ever seen.

They will probably buy up billions at the low end of the dip before releasing the "good news"

and in 5 years chinese government will have trillions in bitcoin US's stupid SEC rules and restrictive slow government will have excluded them from the crypto rush guess who comes out on top?

Well i mean other than us  ;)

People are taking all the regulation talk the wrong way. Regulation means that things are being accepted and adopted. Regulation means that we can go about our business legally without concern of our FIAT gateways getting shutdown.

China and its people are manipulating bitcoin. It's the nature of their culture. Secrecy and a few getting rich.

I think it is affecting now because the value trend for bitcoins this week are declining now and also the altcoins value are declining dramatically maybe because some people are easy to panic and they will easily to decide to sell their coins without confirming the news if is real or just a fake news but i believed this declining value will be temporary because the moment bitcoin value become lesser then many will grab this opportunity to buy bitcoin in huge amount at a cheaper price.

there is always an end to everything and all the rumors and FUDs are coming to an end now. the news has been clarified by the exchanges that closed down. it had nothing to do with banning bitcoin or anything remotely like that. it was (like before) about regulations and how these exchanges are not regulated.

the Chinese are currently withdrawing their funds and transferring them to other exchanges and other buying options such as localbitcoins to invest in back into bitcoin.

Just be ready... hodl or trade... but it will happen again.

all this FUD has manipulated the bitcoin value
i feel so sorry for the investors that panicked
bitcoin has been through this a lot , and it will be like this a guess

Don't feel sorry for them. Serves them right, for wrecking the price with their FUD and panic. It is a self fullfilling prophecy.

Chinese bitcoin exchanges Huobi and OKCoin – two of the country's "Big Three" markets – have announced that they will halt yuan-denominated trading by the end of October.
The twin statements indicate that, at least for now, the exchanges will continue to offer cryptocurrency-to-cryptocurrency trading services. That said, both exchanges are halting yuan deposits starting today.
According to Huobi and OKCoin, definitive information about the trading suspension will be circulated to users before September 30. More significantly, the exchanges will undertake a "gradual" process of unwinding its yuan-denominated markets, with an eye to complete that process by October 31.
That is why the of bitcoins rebounce about $500 in one minutes, be ready to goes down on the october.

China's Bitcoin Exchanges Receive Shutdown Orders and Closure Timeline
A leaked document on social media, backed up by statements from exchange executives, indicates that the closure of China’s cryptocurrency exchanges is imminent.

Although official confirmation has not yet been issued, the document – authored by a financial risk committee – gives local cryptocurrency exchanges until midnight today (Beijing time) to issue closure notices.

Perhaps a more worrying development is the requirement set out in the document that the exchanges need to submit user trading and holding data to the authorities.

Two of China’s leading cryptocurrency exchanges – BTCC and ViaBTC – pre-empted an official move by announcing the closure of their China-facing activities earlier this week. According to insider comment, it is likely that we will see further announcements from exchanges over the next few hours.

Yes this fluctuation of price due to rumors from China and other bad news about bitcoins, however the rumors from China is still not over is like this China’s Bitcoin Exchange Need to Stop Trading Virtual Currencies Amid Crackdown https://t.co/wMBOmIqND3 and you know the trend of price is going down for couples weeks later. We must anticipate for next fluctuating of price due to rumors, so make sure we have made management of money and risk before entry the market.

Giving false alarm will only work for a few times.
And the response they get from the market is getting weaker every time.
I am wondering if the market can grow so resistant against bad news from China, that even in a real case it would not react with panic on it anymore.

That is true. People are now getting used to such stunts. Every next day, we get new breaking news from the Chinese government and there will be a day when people will turn a deaf ear to their decisions. China must at least decrease the rate at which it gives shocks to the market.

And apparently it's not the traders outside China who caused the drop but the Chinese traders alone.

We all know how China plays its games, and most traders know this. Besides, even if China has to go off of the scene, large volume of trades still come from Japan, India and South Korea, China being the last out of the 4. Also it's not China alone. One of the largest banks' CEO released a negative statement about bitcoin, which also sent some weak hands selling their precious coins. The market is no longer controlled by Chinese traders and it has been diversified ever since other countries entered the scene.

China has been jealous of Bitcoins popularity and it was evident earlier in the year, when they tried to take down exchanges, we all remember what happened back then, prices went down and suddenly came back up. Now that Japan is into Bitcoin and is taking a bigger share of Bitcoin, China can't stand it, but they have cut their golden goose, I am very happy that China is done with bitcoin, people who wanted to break Bitcoin price succeed and that jp Morgan ceo, karma shall get back to him. Now the prices are up and running, stay strong Bitcoin.

Japan should be the leader now, step aside China. They have already embraced bitcoin and they are all crazy and going nuts everything about bitcoin. With the void that China has left, I'm sure that in the coming years, another country would take over so that bitcoin cannot be stopped. Actually it can't be stop, however the news coming from China cut the bitcoin market, although the recovery process had begun pushing the price to $4000. Let hope its gonna be sustainable though.

Obviously, that's one of the ways on how investors influence the market, they spread FUDs and people are stupid enough to believe them because, people think that investors have enough experience to know how a market functions and they should believe in it also because of media spreading the news.  So like it or not the prices will crash yet again and we can only try advising people, as we cannot force anyone as per our terms.

Chinese traders got burnt? I think it's quite the opposite, they were the first to get info about upcoming announcement regarding exchanges, so they shorted Bitcoin while it was at $4,500. Panic sellers below $4,000 are the ones who lost money, especially those who sold at the dip - and I'm sure it wasn't the Chinese, as they are not new to this kind of manipulation. But it will be harder to repeat it in the future, since people are learning their lessons and understand that hodling is much better strategy than panicking.

China is not planning to ban bitcoin in the long run, it is just temporary, I think the Chinese government officials are just trying to find a better way to regulate bitcoin exchanges that operates in China, the main reason is the tax revenue generate from all the bitcoin exchanges that will benefit them, so it will be better to hold your bitcoins for now despite the price drop.

You are right, they deliberately are doing that, who knows what is their long term strategy with bitcoin/blockchain. Little before this situation if you remember NEO coin was promoted like new China ETH, now China is banning icos, and maybe bitcoin exchange sites.
I think too that bitcoin will be used there no matter what happen. Chinese government is one, people there are something else, and they will fight

Yes, there is good news John McAfee Claims China Won’t Shut Down Bitcoin Mining Farms https://t.co/I4pAeQOw0W
The current Bitcoin situation in China remains rather vague for now. We know all major exchanges will halt CNY trading at the end of October. It also appears OTC and P2P trading service providers may be affected. One particular industry related to Bitcoin will not see major changes, though. According to John McAfee, mining Bitcoin and altcoins is not on the PBoC’s radar. A very interesting statement, although nothing has officially been confirmed by the institution in this regard.

China made a dear mistake for its crypto industry and thanks god we are now over with them.

In January, China blocks coin withdrawals on local exchanges.
In June, withdrawals are permitted again.
In September, they ban ICOs and close down exchanges.

It shows that the government is completely lost when it comes to bitcoin policies.

While the ban on ICO was understandable due to huge speculation from small investors.
The shutdown of exchanges may be explained as they are afraid of capital outflows from the country.
Actually there are no outflows as CNY remains in the country but I guess they just don't get it.

Yeah ready for more rumors and bitcoin prices will go down but bitcoin prices will always rise again as it is now.
A very interesting statement, although nothing has officially been confirmed by the institution in this regard.
well if that's true its really china wants to have more btc from their hands and spreading news to make people to shake and panic allowing them to
buy more from their earnings with their mining service, we cant avoid people to make their moves while seeing news around and see the value
fell down.
There are no one know about it, but will be many rumors from China talking about the bitcoin, in this situation too much opinions than the fact, Over the past week, many traders, analysts, and investors in the finance and cryptocurrency sectors have reacted to the crackdown on bitcoin by the Chinese government positively. The true fact will show up until october end today is still uncontrol situation include many news from media.

What good is it? The value of any currency is its stability. Such a roller coaster ride only benefit the whales. You're a whale? I doubt it. When you buy at a low price bitcoin this means that someone in this moment lost their money. Then this someone will be you.

I have always encountered those kind of issues even before i started using bitcoin, before i thought that it was the end of his era and it wont succeed and go further, but as i have read some articles about bitcoin and the current situation before, i have realized that those news and rumors are nothing but fake to make people panic while some were just waiting for the moment to buy from low price.

i am not a whale, definitely not, but you can say the same for any non virtual currency even for gold; it's your problem if you are trading, you accepted the risk as soon as you deposited your money.
Yes, i totally agree with you about the last part, if i have invested in this currency to trade, i have accepted the risks

FUD from China + the word from the CEO of JP Morgan are reason made the price of Bitcoin crashed to $2,900 - bottom price from August till today. But honestly, I love that ;D, if they do not create that FUD, I did not have chance to buy Bitcoin in bottom price and take a good profit in short time 8)

The players that can manipulate the market in such scale surely knew with antecedence the new Chinese Bitcoin "ban" and already profited a lot. They may spread more FUD to earn more, but not because they lost. Only smaller players lost money on this to enrich whales that don't need more money at all.

The house and the whales always win, no matter what

Title: Re: Be ready for more rumors and fud from China

Will it really happen again? They have already profited a lot from that fall.
I am thinking of whales doing this just so they could make a lot of profit. $1k up for every bitcoin they sold and then buying again at $2800. They really did it like it was nothing. It happened so fast that it was like scripted.

As long as there are still newbies who fall to their FUD attacks, it will still happen. It is a very profitable activity to the whales and to those who knows what they are doing during FUD. So next time you see FUD attacks you know what to do. It is either short or hodl and buy more when the price drops.

Current risk is a 51% attack in the worst case scenario: if the China gvt seizes all mining power there.
It's unlikely to happen, but we never know with China.

I'd be working at Bitcoin Core, I'd make sure to propsoe, like for segwit, a software upgrade that can REJECT any transaction coming from China. Just to get 1 or 2 grenades ready for the occidental miners.
Hopefully, we have this BitcoinCash scamcoin that may help a lot by becoming a center of interest for the Chinese gvt.

It is right the china is doing very badly to the economical profit of the country but it will not affect the bitcoin at all because the price of the bitcoin is increasing and it will never make you suffer from loss. Bitcoin has improved the poverty in the countries that are using bitcoin so the china will loss the chance to solve a lot of problems in their country if they will reject the use of the bitcoin.

China and its people are manipulating bitcoin. It's the nature of their culture. Secrecy and a few getting rich.

This is true, it's Chinese nature to be sneaky when it comes to business and marketing. I don't know their reason for hating bitcoin, maybe they wanted to control majority of bitcoin however they failed so they started dumping it and making news and issues like they made by banning ICO in their country. I think they are making the biggest mistake of their life.

It may happen but who cares, they are the ones to fall for that, if we did not stopped holding despite the huge FUD coming from the China government then, what can they say or do in order to make us drop our coins? They need to suck it up and just accept the fact they lost their money.

If it's not China then it will be South Korea or some other country from where all these rumors or fud may come from but I think nothing is going to stop too bitcoin, it's been there despite all the fud created in the past and it will be there even in the times to come so we shouldn't be much bothered about that in any case it's their loss not ours opting out of the bitcoin.

Correct every time there is FUD coming from China some people act as if the sky is falling and while the price goes down for sometime the price always recovers and in many instances it went even higher than it was before all the FUD and the more they do this the less influence the next FUD attempt it is going to have in the market.

Its just like saying ignoring China at your own risk. The fud won't stop and the coming one will always be tougher and harder than the former but one thing is certain bitcoin will always  recover. Chinese are not done with bitcoin and I don't see that happening either so far the majority of shots are still being called from that end especially as it relates to mining.

If they are free-thinking all the events are on bitcoin and the rumors are all fake. Do not be fooled by the fudders.
If they believe in bitcoin, the best way to do it right now is to study with your bitcoin preferably.

As expected, there is a possibility that this will happen. With what happened to China, this kind of things are bound to happen. China is a good country don't get me wrong. But, when it comes to their people influence is easily spread.

Funny things are happening in China when it comes to Bitcoin. Like the goal is to make the confusion and discourage traders and other users so they abandon Bitcoin. This is not going to happen but lot of damage has already been done and obviously this will continue in the future. Lucky for us Bitcoin has shows a great deal of resilience for the rumors and misleading information and this should be even more improved in the future.
China is important market but nit the only one, don’t forget that.

China's cryptocurrency ban may not be short term, says BTCC CEO.
BTCC CEO Bobby Lee recently shared his views regarding China’s ban on trading cryptocurrencies, and it seems that he is more skeptical than most internauts. According to him, we should not expect China to change its mind soon and that the government’s goal was to hit Bitcoin prices.
