Title: PDU Preferences? Post by: Didley1JT on September 08, 2017, 11:13:24 PM So I'm getting the 220V line installed early next week.
The receptacle will be an L6-30. I would like to go from that to a PDU that would be running two 2400W power supplies. Each 30A circuit will be running up to 4 Avalon 741s in the future), putting the max load at about 22 amps. I've seen APC and Tripp Lite with a host of range as far as ratings, cost, and features. What are you guys using and what have you had good/bad experience with? Title: Re: PDU Preferences? Post by: btc-haze on December 30, 2017, 10:19:39 AM im running 4x S9 with this with no issues
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0001N9W8C/ but its pricey, I am looking at other alternatives now, seems like 2nd hand used may be the way to go Title: Re: PDU Preferences? Post by: MarkAz on December 30, 2017, 12:09:08 PM I've used these in the past, and are slightly cheaper than the first one:

The only thing I would want you about is if you're getting a smart PDU with power cycling, etc - I picked up a bunch of Tripp-Lite ones a while back so I could do remote rebooting when needed, and the stupid things only have a relay on one leg of the power. Net result is that with some of the better server power supplies will continue to operate even if one leg goes down. Title: Re: PDU Preferences? price is in CAD no need to pay the electrician for the 220V outlet. https://www.kijiji.ca/v-view-details.html?adId=1323428549 Title: Re: PDU Preferences? Keep in mind the C19 plug it's being fed by is typically only rated to 16A, so even though it says it's a 30A PDU, the cable they're using is only rated for a bit over half that. Personally I'd avoid this and go with something that actually can support the breakered load - L6-30 is what you're looking for in terms of input cable. Title: Re: PDU Preferences? Funky “fake 3 phase power” <- honestly don’t know what else I could say to explain my understanding of it. With two 20 amp breakers or something. Title: Re: PDU Preferences? Post by: the_electronrancher on January 05, 2018, 04:53:35 PM I got some used ones by server technology for $70 on eBay. Sentinel, they're awesome. My units are at a data center so I use it to log in and check power, power cycle units, etc. Highly recommended if you're running remotely.
