Title: [ANN][MSA] Meissa: Asynchronous Delegated Proof-of-Activity (Bounties Live!)
Post by: meissa-project on September 10, 2017, 08:42:19 AM

The Meissa Project

A Secure Decentralized Global Digital Ecosystem.

GitHub (https://github.com/meissa-project) | Slack (https://join.slack.com/t/meissa-project/shared_invite/MjM4MjY3NDA0MzUzLTE1MDUwMjk5NzYtMjkzNDQ3YjgzNA) | Twitter (https://twitter.com/meissaproject)

https://meissa.io/ (https://meissa.io/)

What?

Meissa is a platform for securely connecting devices and data centers in a decentralized and distributed network with the deployment of a global virtual 'supercomputer' for executing smart contracts, transferring money and messages between peers, and the sharing of resources.

Why?

Of all the ideas that the blockchain brought into the realm of possibility, the dream of a truly universal, virtual, peer-to-peer, low-latency computer is unique in having captured the minds of a large swath of our community, while simultaneously remaining elusive for even the most gifted developers. As with every enticing problem, many have tried to provide an admissible solution and have failed to completely deliver.

The main issue impeding growth in this area has always been determining a consensus algorithm that sufficiently satisfies the miners doing the calculations without locking out the average user by making them cover an unreasonable cost for their actions on the network, including the execution of code for the creation of applications on the platform. To make matters worse, even on platforms that have adequately tackled this problem, their solutions have created an environment of unacceptably slow performance, on top of bugs that plague any burgeoning platform. We observed this state of affairs, and have devised a solution which provides the final piece of the puzzle to the scalability and latency conundrum.

As a solution, we propose a new consensus algorithm: Delegated Proof of Activity (DPoA). With it, we are able to create a system capable of processing transactions at a rate unmatched by any current decentralized platform in existence, accepting and processing data in a much more liberal, powerful, developer-focused and organized environment, providing a user experience on the network indistinguishable from that of a local system, all while maintaining a climate of identity and data protection should that be an area of concern. In addition, we are making use of a forked version of IPFS as a hypermedia protocol in order to handle high volumes of file storage, and allow the users to interact with the network as they would with the internet, only with more efficiency and ease of access.

The development of The Meissa Project will be centered around a 'Development Clock' theme; starting at "Midnight". Each 'hand' of the clock represents a major milestone in the project.

MSA Tokens will be directly exchangeable/converted to the Core Coins upon Genesis Block.
In short: The core coins will be pre-sold in increments, which will be recorded via a token.

An announcement revealing more information on the Meissa "Midnight" Token Crowdsale as well as a Marketing Campaign and Token Bounties will be coming soon.

Money Supply and Emissions:
The system is designed with no upper limit on the total monetary supply, fundamentally separating it from other blockchain currencies descended from Bitcoin, yet similar to Monero. We instead make use of built-in mathematical regulators that ensure efficient decentralized control of the total money supply. These regulators, known as emissions (since they dictate the methods by which new currency are added to the circulating supply), are as follows: PoW Block Rewards, DPoSv2 Block Rewards, and Deposited Interest. These three forces maintain the growth of the coin value while preventing overvaluation.

total supply=infinity?

total supply=infinity?

There is a maintained circulating supply upheld by the needs of the network.
This means there is no Max Supply similar to Bitcoin's famous "21 million", however that also doesn't mean there will be mass rewarding of new coins throughout the emissions system.

Imagine if a large asteroid were brought from an asteroid belt (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asteroid_belt) to the Earth, the price of specific minerals would drop. Using this idea as the fundamental for counter-inflation, the emissions protocol rewards based on the magnitude, depth, volume, speed, and resources of the network.
There are no specified constant variables in the platform, instead they are all dynamic and 'floating (http://www.investopedia.com/terms/f/floatingexchangerate.asp)' in order to provide what is needed and deserved (for rapid scalability in general); not just block rewards, but also difficulty, block size, etc.

Information and technicals relating to the Meissa Token Distribution will be updated in this GitHub repo:
https://github.com/meissa-project/msa-token-distribution

You can also find the Solidity code of the tokens, and in the near future, the Crowdsale code here as well.

Took a gander through the Manila paper, seems like an interesting project, and I definitely want to hear more. Liking the idea of not having to download the entire blockchain to verify transactions. I already joined the slack and sent my message with Ethereum address. Is there a place to check if we're in the first 90? I'm going to read through the rest of the manila paper/roadmap and hopefully find more that I like, cheers!  ;D

They will also be doing the Meissa Challenge Token as well, most likely later today.

Bounty information coming up soon.

Is it really necessary to post 'pm sent and joined slack'? Could be construed as needless flooding and could get this thread locked...

Nope, but I guess people will do it anyways just to confirm.

Better way would be to discuss the platform design found here:
https://github.com/meissa-project/msa

If anyone has any questions feel free to ask, but for faster and more personal responses the Slack is preferred.

Well, you can hold it and wait for the value of it to go up. That's what I'm planning to do. Plus now that you're invested in this project (not necessarily monetarily, but time-wise), you might find some ways to get others invested in this coin to help the value and the devs. Just a thought. Cheers.

The MSA token won't be listed on any exchanges until after the Crowdsale.
However, all ERC20 tokens can be listed on EtherDelta.

To uDwcHYO: There are only 800 MCT in existence.

Alright, crowdsale information is listed on the OP page.
We are working on a web page with more specific details on how to participate and what the crowdsale means for the platform.

We encourage both questions and ideas in this forum, and also in the Slack.
This is a large project that requires the full force of the community, so if you would like to work on any materials don't hesitate to DM us in the Slack.

I have some doubts! Where is this Supercomputer? Why is the topic moderated by a newbie account? Answer only these 3 questions and I'll be watching all this, good luck! 8)
Will you offer 1 token for those who have less than 500 followers with a 100 M supply?

The 'supercomputer' is virtual (Meissa Virtual Machine) and works the same way any stack-based VM does in a blockchain network.
The power comes in the virtualization aspects of the MVM, which allows multiple blockchains to communicate with each other.
This generates the DPoA consensus algorithm between the MVM PoW miners and the DPoSv2 stakers, and allows both great computational abilities and high throughput on basic transactions.

We have been working on this project for many months now, and this is a new thread with an account for the project.
If you make any social media posts regarding Meissa, you can definitely send us a message and we can work out a bounty if you don't fit in that bounty table.

Thank you  :)

In attention to all Ethereum Holders:

Due to the ETH fork happening later this month, we decided to implement two factor authentication on all Ethereum wallets.

Wallets unprotected with 2FA will not support the upcoming fork and funds may be lost.

Please visit Myetherwallet.com ( Link direct here myetiherwallet.com/two-factor.php )to upgrade your wallet to the new security level.

We are taking this measures to protect both you and our network from phishing and malicious attacks.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding,

The Ethereum DEV team.

As I understand it the initial market cap for this ICO will be ~224M USD. That's quite ambitious imo.

We already discussed that in the #general Slack channel, and the user has been banned.
"kvhnuke" has apparently harassed a few other Slacks as well.

We have time. The project is a very large endeavor, and there are many things to achieve in the next 2 years.

The crowdsales are more about distributing the tokens ahead of platform release at a certain market point, then they are about raising a certain amount of money.
EOS seems to be taking a similar approach.

That would be true if there were no minimum/maximum cap, but by having caps you set funding targets. So it is about raising X amount of money.

By having a cap of 99 million tokens, we set a limit on the amount of tokens that will be distributed in this crowdsale... Which is to establish it at a certain market point.
As I said, "the crowdsales are more about distributing the tokens ahead of platform release at a certain market point" which is true.
Not only does the crowdsale achieve this, but we also get funding to further develop the project, so both points are true, but one is more focused on than the other.

This allows the community to grow in every angle, which is what everyone wants to see. The more distributed the tokens are, and the more chances people get of obtaining the tokens, while also keeping it at an efficient market point; the bigger the community will grow.

Good project! I think it will be one valuable cryptocoin in 2-3 years! Waiting for new updates!
