Title: "Search is temporarily disabled"
Post by: Zocadas on September 11, 2017, 06:33:32 PM
Search doesn't work. Is running an update or similar or should we be worried?

It's been like that for quite some time. It was disabled by theymos, thus not something that you should worry about.

You can use the advanced option instead and use the google search if you wanted to search for something here in forum
If you can see the magnifying glass left side of the search box above that is the advanced search button..
OR you can use this link https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=search;advanced

I think they disable this for a long time..

Correct me if I'm wrong but the isn't advanced search also closed ? Clicking on magnifying glass still throws the same error that is 'disabled'.Seems like google-search is the only way to do it.Too bad because I was heavily relied on the forum search for finding alt accounts,Have to agree that id drastically slowed down the forum and maybe that's why theymos disabled it forever..

Thank you all for quick answers. Google search is also ok, if it helps to keep the forum stable :) The loading issues of the site seem to be fixed properly.

The search is disabled because theymos found it was linked to the whole "Database error" problem that popped up a bunch.

I found that this is caused by contention with long-running searches. Search is disabled while I figure out how to fix it.

Just use Google search in the meantime.
