Title: Where to buy BTC, ETH or altcoins
Post by: Dudetom on September 11, 2017, 07:47:57 PM
Sorry if this question is asked several times, but I'm lost finding a place to buy some crypto currency.

Is the following website fine for example: https://buy.bitcoin.com/

After buying some BTC from that website, can I do whatever I want with that amount? For example, I want to buy ETH or invest in other coins, is this possible?

For example, on www.bitcoin.com, I also found this website: https://cex.io/buysell. Any opinion on this one? What's the difference?

What I don't understand is, why there are so many websites where I can buy crypto currency. It's hard to find one which is qualitative and meets the requirements... I want one where I can buy other cryptos with the currency I have at that moment...

One more found... what about this one? https://shapeshift.io

I can say nothing about bitcoin.com. Does it allow for buying crypto? ??? I thought it's a kind of news resource.
Cex.io would be a better option, because it is actually a cryptocurrency exchange, where you can buy, sell and trade. You can start with it. Cex.io has been around for years and it's quite simple to use.

There are several sites that offer one buy bitcoins, altcoins or both. You can sign up at an exchange like CEX and then buy crypto with fiat deposits. This is my opinion is the safest way to trade. If you already have one crypto and want to exchange to another crypto then you may use Shapeshift service as well - but do consider the current market price before doing so. The forum also has local boards where you can sell/buy crypto at good deals but please be careful of scammers - personally I would avoid those.

Bitcoin is decentralized. There are many websites where you can buy bitcoin through different methods.

You can use https://bitcoin.com or https://cex.io and https://shapeshift.io.

When you receive bitcoin to your wallet, you can use it, however you want.

A bitcoin address looks like this: 1ExampleXJyjhiQ841qvqPrB2hr9mRFCFQ A private key looks like this: 5ExampleRSx4AijjG1wVj36PGfRfhtKGzY9inWBd9K7wtXLuRB7

Wallet types:
  • Desktop wallets (e.g. Electrum)
  • Web wallets (e.g. https://blockchain.info/)
  • Paper wallets
  • Hardware wallets (e.g. Trezor)
You can use any of these.

Here are some trusted websites to buy bitcoin:
  • https://paxful.com/roots/buy-bitcoin/index?affiliate=or4QNomGdXe (Buy with gift card, bank transfer, paypal and credit card)
  • https://localbitcoins.com/ (Buy with cash, gift card, bank transfer)
  • https://coinatmradar.com/ (Bitcoin ATM in many cities across the world. Deposit cash in the ATM and receive BTC to your wallet address)
  • https://changelly.com/ (Buy with credit card)

Exchange bitcoin to ethereum, monero, altcoins:
  • https://shapeshift.io/ (Many altcoins)
  • https://changelly.com (Many altcoins)
  • https://xmr.to (Monero -> BTC only)

You can also trade BTC <-> altcoins and invest in altcoins with exchanges: (some examples)

If you want to buy Litecoin, Ethereum and/or Bitcoin
probably the best place is Coinbase!

When you get setup there or verified you can transfer
funds from your bank account with zero fees
you can also transfer funds directly from credit card
with a 4% commission I think.

Coinbase also have their own exchange GDAX.

Other sites I have used to purchase are as follows:

Litebit.eu
Bittylicious.com
anycoindirect.eu
