Hi guys, i'm building new rig with 8 x EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 SC GAMING ACX 3.0 Black Edition and i have 2 Corsair HX1000i psu's.
I'm wondering what is the proper way to connect the psu's. I'm using add2psu to connect the 2 psu's.
First psu will power the motherboard, cpu, ssd, 4 raisers and the 4 cards connected to them.
Second psu will power other 4 raisers and the 4 cards that are connected to them.

Is this right?

Because i read somewhere that the first PSU have to power all the raiser+mobo+cpu and ssd, but this way i will not have enough connectors to do it.

Please, give me some advice!

I'm doing same as yours. As I know, it's important to supply one card with same PSU(raiser + GPU power).

I have the same setup also. I used RM1000x instead and it have 4xPCIE, 3xSATA, which is enough to supply 4 cards per psu. But if HX1000i have only 3xPCIE cable then you can temporary share 1 of PCIE for 2 cards until you buy an extra PCIE cable.

So as far as i understand, there is no problem to have 4 cards and their 4 raisers on PSU1 and 4 cards and their 4 raisers on PSU2?

I don't see any problem with your current setup,you must not really rely on other opinion, most important is that the learning you had thru your experience if you find your setup working then that's fine, Just don't fix things that is not broken.

There is no issue with that at all. I routinely use dual psu's on my mining rigs and split the cards/risers between the two as needed.

Well, not to come in harsh, but I've read a lot and I've many rigs set up and I follow only one method - Master PSU for all the risers, MOB, SSD, and a few GPU where as slave PSU for GPU connections only. I've never faced any issues what-so-ever. I would give splitting risers and GPUs in multi PSU system a try and analysis it too, for what I've seen from a lot of posts - there are no major issues going for any method but just keep one thing in mind to not use cheap SATA risers. Most of the time, they are the culprit and people blame it on to the way you've set up multi PSU rigs.

Yes you right. This is only one way to connect all power of single GPU to the same PSU to avoid GPU injury. I.e. you should connect riser power and additional 6-8pin connectors from the same PSU.

you can use server psu then buy a less watt atx powersupply to power your mobo ssd cpu riser then your gpu will be powered by the server psu. or buy a pico so you dont have to buy another psu. this setup is good for less wires and good wire management. I also do recommend server psu over atx psu  because they are built to run 24/7. Happy mining!
