Title: I am Planning to make my own Exchange
Post by: AltCreators on September 13, 2017, 02:38:07 AM
Hi there.

I am wanting to make my own exchange.

Can you tell me some requirements I need to have in order to make one?
Do I need any legal documents in order to make my exchange?

you have to know who is your target customer? region?

what kind of service you want to provide? involve cash transaction? bank transfer? or just a middle man

different business, region requires different kyc, aml regulation

these are the basic questions to be answered before you move to legal compliance issue

Same here. Do you have any develop skill? Currently open new exchange is not very hard, the hardest thing is how to bring people to join the exchange. Let us know if you have any step.

Apart from getting good developer, marketing team, you also need lawyers to be sure that you don't brake any laws. I am sure that it is actually hard to build and even harder to promote because now there are lots of exchanges. However, I wish you good luck with that!

Well it depends in which country you are currently living, different countries have different rules and regulations.

As for other things, you need trust worthy developers, plus you need to have high enough trust in the Bitcoin community, no one will trust you with their funds.

I will recommend you to stay out of it, it's not a newbie friendly business.

i also think that exchanges is a kind of complicated businesses, but for the development you can use https://github.com/peatio/peatio (https://github.com/peatio/peatio), this is a secure relization of crupto currency exchange

IMO, an exchange requires large capital. You have to find good developers team and consistently testing the sercurity of the exchange.

Depending on the jurisdiction where you form your business, the legal requirements can vary from virtually none to extreme.  Lol.

It is also very complicated.  You have to make sure you're really committed to providing stellar service.  People would be trusting you with their funds -- a resilient and secure infrastructure is a must.

I guess you need prepare some online bank, and some local bank.
Promote it in the facebook groups where people do the online business.
Example like : trading, forex, bitcoin, captcha, ptc, and many more.
And of course you need a lot of money to prepare, but you can start with a small one.
You can start with a few transactions in those groups.

Yes it is a very nice idea, but you will need a lot of budget to make your own exchange, it is not easy to develop it. You need a good designer, a developer, a lot of people who you will need to hire.
Also how do you think you are gonna earn the trust of the users? it is not easy to make that. You need to learn a lot before making any type of sites like this
Good luck with that.

It's almost similar to saying "i want to create my own bank" minus the brick and mortar branches.

Imagine what you would need to open such a bank. Lots of computing resources, staff (really good and trustworthy staff of course), AML and KYC regs and compliance requirements for the jurisdiction you will operate in (and more if you intend to expand internationally), lawyers who can advise you about incorporation and company creation regs, people who understand financial markets... you need all of those and more.

And then, being a new exchange, the most important element: you need to build trust. You want clients to send bitcoins or altcoins to your hot wallet. That requires trust. You promise to pay them after they execute trades. That requires trust.

It's not as simple as building a website overnight.

If you search for altcoin exchange script, or altcoin exchange software on google or github you might get a few results that are ready to roll. Whatever software turns up may still need a bit of work to fine tune though but you could at least experiment. Make sure it's open source.

When you make exchange you have to know all rules and it's better for you to find them local, not on this forum because maybe someone can't say everything truth. So after that you need a great team and money, exchange website has to have very high security.
Well, it's not easy and it's not a job which can be done by questions and answers on forum. You need good marketing, security and money. Also if you want your coin to be exchanged on btc, who will use that? If not only you?

Im making an ICO

My coin will have its own personal exchange.
SO if my coin has a hard fork, or something, I can do it quickly.
Unlike lets say yobit where I would have to wait a few days.

can you reccomend me some opensource altcoin exchange?

You are missing the point.

If you want people to deposit BTC or other cryptocurrencies into your wallet to trade in exchange for your coin, you need to build trust.

Admitting you have no clue on what you are doing is a step in the wrong direction of building trust.  :(

If you look at it I think that it is not so easy to do such things and I do not think it will be done in that way unless you are the only one.exchange event is a sector that needs to be completely professional and fast, and in this regard, of course, I think that the people who know your business well and that you are your team should consist of people who are really solid and safe.besides, your bank account must be ready for this job. you must unlock the instant cash flow when necessary and you should not suffer people in this regard. we do not even know if they will choose you more. in other words, at the same time, you must be in evidence that you trust and that you have done this really well. time is needed and there are many more factors. If you are serious about this, you really need a good team that knows your business well. I have not even mentioned the necessary legal procedures. Anyway I wish you good luck.

Yes I understand.
It Will gain trust.

Because my ICO will not launch the exchange immediately. It will be launched months after the ICO.

The ico idea that I am making, is very good. I truly believe my ICO will be successful.
If my ICO is successful, the trust will already be there.

Well your plan to make an exchange and used the Your plan coin to make it successfully done is pretty cool but the question is do you have a back up fund to run the advertisement or any other forms of attention gathering materials to create mass exposure for this project? Well if you don't have funds to run it out and just rely on your coins then I think we will doubt to trust you up since there are so many scam coin devs who used there what so called project just to scam peoples funds by using some Scam ICO coins.

Of course Ill have the funding for the exchange.
The ICO im making, is not a scam at all.
It will have many great features.
And, it will be X11 Masternode coin.

I do not want to discuss my coin, as some people might steal the idea.

The money from the ICO will go towards the new exchange, and further projects and development.

Its not really bad to start up an exchange as long you do know on what you are doing and completing all the things you do need to build one. Competition cant really be avoided knowing that there are lots of big and reputable exchanges now on which we would really have a hard time on getting traders or users of our exchange but well having this small steps is better rather than on expecting directly on bigger expectations. As long we do give the best service then it should be fine.

I would be very careful regarding regulation, proper legal advice would definitely be recommended.

Most governments are cracking down on unregulated exchanges and the penalties could be very severe depending on how little steps you have taken to ensure yours is legitimate.

Best of luck.

There's a lots of countries with bitcoin exchange and I was agreed with error08 said that in different nation there are different regulations so how can you handle that? because it's hard for you to create a new ICO's to provide the funds that you need in exchange business.

One of the weakest points in all Crypto currencies are the exchanges and their weak security and compromised code for the

software they use. Every time a exchange gets hacked, the Bitcoin price goes down. This has nothing to do with Bitcoin, but

rather exploits in third party software. A lot of people do not know the difference and they blame the technology. Your first

step would be to find developers you can trust and someone that can audit their code. {to prevent them from creating

backdoors in the software they created for you}  ;)

More important from exchange is security and fastest loading site.

First check whether it is legal or not to set up a cryptocurrency exchange in your country. We have a recent example of China, wherein government has banned most popular exchanges. I would suggest you to hire a local legal expert for corporate affairs and fulfill the legal requirements before starting the exchange to avoid future consequences.

Good luck in the states. The SEC is coming down hard on this stuff. Also, with any type of site, security will be your number 1 issue. You don't want to be anything like mt gox or the likes. Right now I think coinbase is doing it right in terms of security. Kraken handles it well but as for advice, go see what everyone else is doing and see if you can make it different.

Yes, you should build trust in order to succeed as an exchange. But I suppose it will take an awful lot of time to integrate all the popular payment proceessings: banks, visa, master, union pay, jcb, skrill, neteller, and cryptocurrencies as well. If you integrate them as well as exchange functioning then it would be magnificent exchange

Marketing stuff would always be there and should really be prioritize because this is the thing will make exposure on your exchanger. If you put less attention into this then for sure you would really have a hard time on getting potential users or traders on the site. Escrowed funds is somehow a good show up regarding on your credibility and transparency.

Yes you should have legal documents in order to make any kind of exchange.

By the way, Are you going to run a Bitcoins exchange? Or some altcoin? Then you have to put some money in your exchange first.

Even thought the idea of making an exchange is really interesting, I believe there is a lot of legal work to be done, you would need to hire specialized lawyers to run such operations.

Totally agree. Apart from a lot of responsibility, it's about determination, lots of it.

An exchange that supports buy and sell between btc and your own currency will really work. We have a local exchange  here that is very popular because we can exchange directly our btc to cash and the best part is it always update it's price every minute when prices move.

Build an exchange isn't for layman, you need a team and huge funds for it, as long as an exchange deal with banks and fiat currency; legal documents are required. AML and KYC policies are slightly different in every country, there's a certain amount refers to withdraw limit and even customers have to send their id and selfie photos to fulfill KYC regulation.

Take all the money you have and put it in a multi key trust as insurance with somebody other people trust.
Now roll your exchange, slowly incrementing the insurance limit.
Grow it naturally, through superior customer experience since you can't compete on latency and features unless you have specialty features.

Obviously. You have made a great initiative for earning the profit, day by day this virtual exchange system is getting popular and acceptable whole around the world. but it doesn't an easy task. at first, you have to take a good review and estimate of this project. then you have to make a proper budget that will help you to make understanding about that type of project. you have to create a good team because without teamwork you must face huge difficulties. In order to create an exchange site, you need to learn a lot of things and build an expert team. Anyway Best of Luck.

in my country is full of canoes, so full that I get headaches, and you know why I have headaches? because the people of my country build canoes for years and do not think of creating something more evolved, something like modern boats.

like @vod said, you need to win people's trust, but since you also said that you are still planning and from what I realized, it will not be so soon that your exchange will be launched so you have a lot of time to gain people's confidence and on that point "conquering people's confidence" I will suggest the following:

step one: you should create physical office

Step two: You must introduce yourself with your real name

do this,  your exchange will be very successful

Lol, yeah - that's why innovators are hugely important to the success of a country. I think the interesting thing with Bitcoin is that you don't need to consider the country anymore - you can build a borderless organisation with people who are just as innovative as you.

Can you tell me some requirements I need to have in order to make one?
Do I need any legal documents in order to make my exchange?

You must first tell us your location before we can give you the right advice, because as you probably already know, every country has different laws regarding exchanges and some of our advice may not work or be effective for you, especially if the country in which you live has strict laws when it comes to such money market platform. But of course, this will depend on what kind of exchange you want to create. Do you want your exchange to be decentralized or centralized?

If you trying to setup in Canada, you should better register your company and have conversation with attorney to figure out all the legal issues and disclaimers around the crypto exchange. You can follow up and review the working of https://poloniex.com.

I think that kind of idea is to difficult to start your own exchange you have to follow rules step by step and required all the requirements to be needed and foremost the trust of your target client,if you really pursue your goal try franchise a name of exchange maybe it works.

First, consider these points

-What structure best for scalability and performance . (i.n. distributed or undistributed, how it works..etc in very detail)

-How to ensure the security of the exchange (mechanisms, algorithms..etc, in very detail).

-which programming languages to use for each part of the website(front end, backed and matching engine)

-recommend wallets or node clients most ideal for sending/receiving funds.( BTC, Bitcoin cash, LTC, ETH, ETC, Monero, DASH etc..)

-recommend useful JavaScript/php frameworks or libraries for the front-end(for such as price chart)

-anything good for building exchange...

-how many servers do you need to running this project smoothly

Requires a team that has some experience In the field of exchange and wallets . And requires strong protection of user funds

It is possible as long as you have capital or money. This kind of business is not easy it has more complication. Before you can establish this business be more practical you must have plan first. It also depend on the country you will create this kind of business. It is important to know the culture, tradition, kind of person you are dealing with kind of society and most of all the law. Do some background research so that you have a plan and you can be successful because we all know that converting money is in daily basis it means everyday convert to a certain currency is different. You must think several time before you decide.

Hi! Let me ask you all these questions in relation to your plan of making your own exchange:

1) What exchange are you planning to do?
2) What is your goal in doing so?
3) What hardware or software do you plan to use?
4) How much money are you willing to pour in as your initial investment?

You have to let me know your answers so I can better well help you with your concerns.

But I bet you would need so much fiat to make this happen. Good luck!

You should know your own reason why you have to start making your own exchange. It's just for business? You have seen a lot of opportunity? crypto is your fashion? There's a need to establish that in your place/country?

Will you be able to compete those big exchanges out there? These are the very few questions that came into my mind about making your own exchange. And with the legalities about building that business, it depends if your country isn't that exposing that much about crypto's it's your choice to register but as a business entity, you should have register it.

I think that first of all you must care about your exchange trust level. If you will develop it with Smart Contract - make contract's code public, think about escrow and talk to people who is reputable and can become an advisor at your product.

That's the basics. You can do your own research on the project's developed already and conduct your SWAT analysis in compare with them ;)

A lot of great advice in this thread, i feel a lot of what i'd research has already been said here.

I'd encourage you to control your Troll Box, it's really a window into the users of an exchange...yobit trollbox/coinexchange trollbox brings on some lols (at least coinexchange one seems admin'd but too many scrubs spamming in there still).

For so many Altcoin exchange existing today I'm sure you will struggle to compete with them if your budget is short/lacking and maybe for your own good you need to brought up some millions of $ in budget so that you can battle them up interms of traffic making.

But good luck for your plans and making it is good but you should make sure that you don't have a plan to scam your traders since it's very awful act to see and many scam exchangers do that before.

I guess that one of the most convenient services for exchanging coins is that one which is fast and has best rate.
I discovered coinmonkey.io - it's a sort of exchanger which gets rates from major exchanges and you may choose what rate to use for exchage transaction.
And there is no registration needed, I don't even write e-mail for exchange!

There you can learn a lot and support the community, which could also follow you later on.

I wish you good luck!

I am making an exchange myself but it is slightly different.

Some ideas are taken from etherdelta and some are mine.

It is not a BTC to Fiat exchange of sort because that would require lot of back office stuff.

Mine one is P2P exchange and no funds are held in my wallet at any given time.

All my wallet gets is just the commission from the P2P trades.

Still there is a lot of scope for improvement as the Crypto world moves along but for as of now I am bit satisfied.

It does require a lot of efforts and money to build a exchange provided it a genuine one and security is the top most priority and taken care of. Also building an exchange at this juncture is a huge risk too as already many established and well known exchange in the market do exists from years now. So it will be difficult for people to move to any other exchange unless they are facing some real big time trouble.

The most important things is you need to have a lot of money to make an exchange or you able to earn them by crowdfunding. And you have to prepare the experienced developer, marketing team and advisors. You need to have a good concept to attract people to exchange in your exchanger.

Ill definitley use that for my own coin.
My coin exchange will have NO FEES at all!
So people can exchange freely.

That would be great for those who can't afford any bitcoin or other crypto with fees. But it would need a lot of preparations for that sir, And it will need a good advertisement as well so that it would properly dessiminated to people with proper informations.

its actually depend on government of respective country where you going to open a office, you have to full fill their crypto or money regulation criteria to order to set up a exchange.then you should have a great idea and good interface which will attract users to use your website rather than other exchanges, then comes the most important thing i.e security as we have already seen many hacking attempts happening so security of funds is very important.now comes the fees that you going to charge ,it also affect greatly for big holders.
