Proof of stake because that was eventually gets a big pump, but that will be difficult to pump the pow token because a lot of miners are dumping it to the market and there will be a huge dump by them all.
Pos will better because the limited supply.

Personally I like POS coins, as they take up a smaller amount of energy to mine etc.

That being said, as POW becomes harder, the price of the coin increases as there are less coming into the markets each day, so for long term hold either one will be good.

POS you will get a steady income of coins, POW should appreciate more.

Proof of stake may be better than proof of work in terms of profit but only purpose of developers is not the rise of coin's price. The answer actually depends on a coin.

Proof of stake is generally better cause miners spent some electricity for pow coins. That means they will keep dumping some portion of their coins nearly always. But it isn't hard to get some pos tokens/coins. People tend to hold more.

September is the month of blood pouring?
With the market this September I think Holding will also last longer, long-term investment is quite appropriate.
Keep it until you find the appropriate price to sell.

I think it is better to hold the good coins such as Bitcoin, Ethereum or Bitcoin Cash when the price is crashing.

Personally I prefer proof of stake, this is because as others have said proof of work tokens are often dumped by miners due to the high costs of mining. Both can be profitable however, it is more important to pick a good coin then a particular type.

I would like to buy coins that have real time  applications running on it.

Eg. OMG . This is a token built on Ethereum. Hopefully if the OMG does well the underlying system that supports also appreciates in value.

That is my take as I am new to the cryto  eco system

I don't think you can generalize it like that.  It really depends on what the coin is that you're talking about.  I don't think it really matters if it's either, but the vision behind the crypto.

The best choice is to buy bitcoins and hold it for a long term as it can give you huge returns on your investments if you hold it till the right time and keep on trading with altcoins in short term to make regular profits and if I have to choose then I will surely go for buying bitcoins.

Proof of stake of coins, holding bitcoin can give profit. Still depends on the coins that you would choose if it is profitable. As long you have choosen the right coins to mine will surely a profitable in the long term.

proof of stake will be more popular because you don't need to have a gear for mining it, you are already buying it to hold it, you can easily stack it and have some passive income from it!

Keep in mind.  If you didn't get in early on a proof of stake coin, it might end up costing a fortune to purchase enough to earn a stake.

altcoins are known to be terrible long term holding investments because they lose their value in long term. although it is impossible to talk about them generally but this is true in most cases.

obviously if you buy PoS coins and also stake them and get the reward of that too, you make profit. but at the same time everyone else is also getting those rewards and that increases the sell pressure (supply) of that coin and decreases the price over long term.

NEO, Omisego and the next is kick coin will become a good example about how good are the pos coins. Because the limited supply gives the more room to the price of coin to get the new or adopt the new demand by a lot of new users.

Proof of Work is better than Proof of Stake as it is simpler.

I'm more of a long term holder and so I choose proof of stake coin rather than POW coin, it is hard to hold on to those POW coins because as they mostly say coins that are mined are mostly dumped by miners so I'm refraining from that.

if I prefer to buy coin work if it is made to hold, with a cheap and cheap coin to buy it and hold it for some time and wait until the price goes up and get the profit we expect, like coin coin DOGE, ETH and buy it by way of margin , whose price is currently very cheap.
