Post by: Humperdoo on September 13, 2017, 03:55:20 PM
Hello everyone!
I am new to altcoins and looking to get involved in the cryptocurrency world. I have $1000 dollars to invest into pre-sales / ICO's.

I have a friend who recommended me Crowdholding. https://ico.crowdholding.com/ (https://ico.crowdholding.com/) Anyone else heard of them?

What do you recommend I should invest in?

Thanks everyone for your responses!

Welcome to the crypto world.

I suggest you read the announcements (Altcoins)

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=159.0

You will find many projects' information. Find the one you like and think it has potential to grow your money.
For me, I invest in Change bank and KickICO.

Good luck

The best thing to do is to check the ANN thread for projects. Analyze projects and invest in one which you think will be successful!

many good projects here, if you want to invest in ico, then you should analyze and study the project.
from whitepapers, teams, market opportunities and more.
if you choose ico wrong, you can get a failed project may also be a scam project.
so before you invest, then you should understand its risks.

Investing in ICO's is just like any other investment. You need to do your research.

These are the qualities i look for before investing into an ICO:-

- Strong team - Both in development team and also the CEO's / marketing (People focus too much on the developers which is important but not everything. no point having a great team to create something, if nobody can advertise it and push the startup in the right direction.)
- Realistic vision - not aiming too high or if they do not reach their target everyone who invested will be disappointed
- Solid whitepaper - Well thought out, shows realistic goals, a strong good vision and a plan of action
- Strong social media presence - A social media that shows they are connected with everyone
- Good customer support - Shows they care, and they have invested time and money into making sure the average investor can ask questions
- Good website - A business who is willing to throw time and effort into a good website are less likely to be a scam
- finite supply - ICO's with no cap can be dangerous and can simply just damage their own coin by releasing more for more investment.
-Market they are getting involved with - Is this a new market? or a dying one? who controls the market?

Finally
- Good concept and catchy name - A good ethos and a name that makes them stand out. Personally i would avoid anything that is something "coin".

If you are looking to spread your cash over a few coins, i would look into pre-sales as you can get more bonuses for your money.

This is very useful, i will use this when i look into pre-sales and ICO's

In regards to Crowdholding, I have heard about them and they seem interesting. Interested to see how their ICO goes as according to their website they have 170% of their target in pre-sale

ICOs are high risk, make sure you do solid research and start low. Don't go throwing all your funds into a single one.

Diversify a bit, why not invest say 50% in one or some of the top 10 established crypto coins, 25% in newer coins that are listed on a popular exchange like bittrex then maybe 12.5% in two ICOs you choose.

Hi Virgin,

Check this topic:

The second ICO our of Korea is coming soon (BOScoin was the first). DAYLI Financial Group (formerly Yello Finance Group) is preparing to launch a coin called ICON. The site was opened on the 2nd. Of all things, the Korea version of the Whitepaper attracted me the most, and after reading through, I felt the company was well prepared.

ICON is an interconnecting blockchain network. ICON can connect independent blockchains without the use of additional third-party intermediaries. Various blockchains can communicate with each other through the ICON platform. By connecting siloed blockchains, ICON aims to become the largest blockchain in existence.

ICON tokens are named ICX. ICX is used as an intermediary currency when transacting amongst the various blockchain networks. As an inter-chain blockchain, the ICON platform will be able to host other ICOs on the ICON platform.

The ICON ICO will be the largest ICO in Korea. Overall, ICON aims to raise $44M over the span of 2 weeks. The ICO starts on October 20th, 2017 and ends on November 3rd, 2017. ICON will distribute 400,230,000 ICX which can only be exchanged with Ethereum (ETH). 1 ETH has a conversion rate of 2,500 ICX (1 ETH = 2,500 ICX).

Since you are a beginner in the altcoin and in the entire cryptocurrency world, it is best that you first study it in general, meaning go first with the existing altcoins that are already traded. I think jumping directly into ICOs might be risky for you. But if you have received good advice then it is your choice. Try studying some ongoing ICOs such as Atlant and Easymine.

You should invest at Electroneum (https://my.electroneum.com/join/7F678F) with Duncan Logan onboard who's the CEO of RocketSpace. The ICO is live now with 908.7288 ETH & 48.7467 BTC raised in just 2 hour 20 mins.

LOL, please don't buy into ICO's atm, it's all hype... The vast majority of these coins have copy & pasted code bases with recycled ideas tried many times in the past. I've yet to see an ICO that makes me interested enough to buy into it, and I've been around for years.

Simply buy them after they are on the exchange, there's no reason to send money to someone for unfinished unproven technology when you can get it after the fact for a lil more expensive and still make great profit without taking 100% risk on what ever you put into the coin.

If you like gambling though, enjoy. I'd rather put all my money on red... at least I'll get some "free" drinks out of it.

At this point people are simply buying ICO's for the "quick flip" and the actual coin/token beneath the ICO really doesn't matter all that much. Like I said, it's all hype. The vast majority of ICO coins coming out right now will be lower than what you purchased them for in 2 years, that I can pretty much guarantee.

Electroneum. Especially now that you're new to the game; they try to create the most user-friendly and easy-to-use crypto, with the aim of making non-technical persons owners of cryptocurrency. That gives them a window to learning more technical stuff, while being involved.

Take some time and REALLY read through everything that is suggested. It is a LOT of money.

If you have any questions feel free to pop by the telegram: https://telegram.me/electroneum

Not 1 ICO has ever accomplished anything in the real world.
Yet somehow they are an "investment" opportunity ?

So let me get this straight.. they are a highly popular investment yet none have done anything ?

The biggest is a scam.. ETHEREUM.
What does that tell you ?
What has it accomplished ?
Market price manipulation and then it was morphed into an ICO coin cloning platform for profits catering to the scam supporting losers community here we call "crypto"
In other words the outside world gove 0 fucks about ETH the ICO scam coin.
And *THAT* pajeets is your benchmark for "ICO" success.

Yeah Investards.. you really are fucking smart.
Good luck spending your REAL MONEY buying BITCOIN so can buy shitcoins on Poloniex for ROI's.  :D

You shouldn't just invest in any ICO, but you have
To look critically at what the project seeks to
Achieve and solve.the dev team and road map
I personally think CarTaxi is a great project and
And they are already a success to reckon. An
Actual project already in existence and full operation.
They also have cool discount for their pre-sales

ICO and presales are projects which can give you great returns but in turn offer a great degree of risk. Reason is that they are fresh, raw and untested. If you are just beginning with crypto world invest in established currencies first to gain some confidence. Once you think you have enough knowledge to analyze the pros and cons of an ICO only then invest in it. Dont invest in an ICO just because someone says its good enough. :)

Initial coin offering (ICO) is an unregulated means of crowdfunding via use of cryptocurrency and is applied by cryptocurrency businesses as an alternative to the rigorous and regulated capital-raising process required by venture capitalists, banks, or stock exchanges.
And before investing in any coin I recommend you to check the ANN thread for projects, analyze projects and invest in one which you think will be successful in future. Don't forget to read the announcements (Altcoins) which will give you informations of many projects.

I am going to recommend Centra, but even if you pick something else, pick one that has a real product that is very close finishing around the ICO.  This decreases the possibility of scam and ensures the team is working hard.  The projects that are 1 year away, who knows if they will ever finish.  So here is my pitch for Centra.

Centra is definitely the next promising ICO!  Something with a real product!
With a crypto debit card, you can use your crypto at any restaurant / store / ATM.  Just swipe your card like any credit card.  Need cash quickly, no problem, just withdraw fiat at a ATM with your crypto!

Tenx and Monaco both had giant 10x+ returns at their peak despite not having a working card.
Now with a real working card and people to promote and use it, just imagine...

ICO is on Sept 19th!  Mayweather is using the card himself and posted it on his Instagram.

Dont focus only on a single ICO since you can really choose on the projects which you do see that do have potential. Check on this board https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=159.0 . You would find lots of ICO which you can able to read up on their roadmap whitepaper which you can able to identify which project are good to put our money on.

I think Enjin Coin is a great first presale to break your crypto virginity with. The presale ends in 5:30 hrs and then the normal ICO starts in beginning of October.

Enjin Coin is a platform for creating and managing virtual goods on the blockchain. The coins will be used to create, distribute, and trade virtual assets for popular online games (such as Minecraft), creating a new model of virtual ownership. Online gamers can bring or trade their assets from game to game, community to community, growing their digital wallet with real value as they play. They already have over 18m users.

ICOs indeed very high risk, the profit earned from the investment is almost non-exist, only the losses you will get. There are many ways to invest your money is by trading one of them. But it depends on you, choosing a very popular ICO is better way if you keep want invest on ICO.

This is what is pissing me up with all these new ICO s coming to the market, how can a jack that knows nothing about your project be promoting it to me, He has promoted more than 2 other ICOs already.

When you put ICOs ahead of development the project is heading for disaster

AirToken look like a very promising project. They raised $6.5m in the presale and are taking whitelist applications for the ICO. Their goal is to enable the billions of offline and pre-paid mobile subscribers in emerging markets to have access to capital for both data, the fuel of the smartphone, and eventually digital and physical goods within the mobile ecosystem. Their vision is a world where anyone with a smartphone can enjoy unrestricted access to the internet.

From my perspective, I think investing in ICOs is way too riskier than investing in a coin that is already listed on major exchanges. I think the wise thing to do now since they a lot of ICOs launching every weeks, is to read and research about the project and determine the benefits from investing in it. I usually consider the technology behind the most important, the team behind, graphics, whitepaper and website should be properly designed, customer care and social media should be active; transparency. If I were to recommend to you at least 2 good ICOs, I would say air, cartaxi.

I did not research much about crowdholding ICO. But their pre-ICO was highly successful with a 257% turnout. This is a good sign you can consider since that simply means there are backers of this project. But you need to do some more research about them so that your investment will be worth it.

Welcome to crypto world :) I think you should start with ico more popular as more chances that they will become more expensive after the listing.

In threads like these you'll always get people shilling for their coin. lol. I'll give you a serious answer, you should check icocountdown website and look at ICO. It's very important to not invest without doing proper research. You want to look at things such as: team, who is behind it, support they're getting. Read every single post in their thread and take notes as needed.

You can also checkout announcement section but it can be little challenging going through so many threads, but you need it to do proper research. Good luck.

Best thing to do is do your own research, look for a project that interests you.

Investing in ICO's is very much like investing into anything, research and doing your homework is what is needed. Personally these are the things i look for in a ICO:-

- Stong Team - Not just good developers, but also a good strong marketing team, finance and CEO's who have experience and can drive the company's idea home. People focus too much on the developers and they are important, but if the CEO is a boob, not going to get far regardless of the product.

- White paper - This is the very outline of the business, if this doesn't make sense or is poorly written it is a huge warning signal. This document is supposed to explain everything and get people excited about their company.

- Do they need a altcoin? - If they do not need one, then the only reason they are creating one is to raise an ICO, keep away from those.

- Numbers make sense - The numbers need to be correct and thought out. Not just the ability to add more coins when the time comes. Also probably if they are giving away a lot in bonuses, that is a worry as they are not caring about their currency.

- Strong social media - creating their own content etc. Shows they want to connect with people and make this thing blow up!

Lastly

- Innovation - Does it change something? or is the same idea as everyone else? Does it inspire you? If the answer is yes then I would join a bounty campaign to get more information about the altcoin.

That's usually the steps i take when looking into investing into a ICO. Hope this helps

(PS Crowdholding looks like a decent ICO, just had a look at their whitepaper, so thanks for the tip!)

Just like kyber and the next will be the change ico or referium in some months later, because the only ico that hasn't listed in the bitcoin talk will give you decent profit, but you must remember about the community that already supported the ico or project.

This is the sort of ICO i would avoid, i highly doubt that however talented Mr Mayweather is, i highly doubt he could spell cryptocurrencies never mind understand the concept of blockchain technology and it's potential.

I would do your own research, find a project that you believe will be profitable / good for society and look deep into the company. I would also keep away from ICO's that clearly are just pumping money into advertising so the masses will buy. I would much prefer a cryptocurrency with realistic targets and focuses on content creation and connecting with the crowd.

Many newbies recomending one or another ICO, but I recommend to consider these factors before investing:

1. Team - is the team capable of doing the product, do they have experience and skill set
2. Market - is there a niche or share of existing market will be made, is the market large.
3. Token model - is there a purpose of the coin, do you think it is useful.
4. ICO structure - how will the funds be used, roadmap available, do they need that much money.

Try Mira https://miralab.io. I think this project is rather good, at the time of pre-ico is coming in a few days (November 27-29). Their main advantages are off-chain storage solution, anonymity and ease of use for people with any level of technical expertise. Whatever the case, you need to do research and always be sure that what your investing in will work for you!

I've heard about Crowdholding and I am a big fan of their project.

Looks like they are wanting to create something amazing through co-creation.
