- a computer - a hardware key like the Nano S. What are the chances in recovering the bitcoins if those items are submerged during a flood or other catastrophe ? Only worry about protecting private key information is necessary in advance. Otherwise, access to the wallet will be lost forever.

I would definitely recommend waiting until everything is thoroughly dry before trying to boot anything up. The last thing you want to do is to turn a salvageable situation hopeless by being impatient and shorting out your equipment.

If you keep your private keys and recovery phase on a paper, you won't have problem with the loss of equipment or hardware. You need to keep this two information in a secure place.
