Title: They said on Windows 10 it couldn't be done....they lied. 9 GPU proven.
Post by: Trade_BTC on September 13, 2017, 10:42:29 PM
All this time we were lead to believe that you couldn't get more than 8 GPU's recognized on windows 10. This is not the case as I finally had a test machine to attempt it.

Now we can finally put that rumor to rest, the main issue is that it has to be done in several stages. You must reboot every card you add and ensure that after GPU 0 is done all drivers are settled. I used a 7 slot PCI-E z270 ASUS board and then bought one of these adapters to fit the rest of the GPU:

So we can put those rumors to rest now everyone  ;D

I think the  proper information is that Windows 10 can't handle more than 8 GPU... from the same manufacturer ! (AMD or Nvidia)

but it can handle more than 8 GPU in total, we knew that  ;D

Thanks anyway, that's a good job you did !

I have done it in a much easier way and with 12 gpus. Is the current Afterburner limit still 8?

Yes still limits to 8 but if same gpu kind it will still apply the setting I discovered.

Thanks, the posts I've seen say the IRQ can't handle over 8 never specific to brand/card. However, either way it works and I'm happy to showcase for those who were curious.

Hi guys,
The gpus limitation was never problem of windows! 64bit windows can support almost unlimited numbers of gpus.
It is always the drivers problem!!!
For now, the new drivers from amd allowed you to use up to 12x same gpus.
