Just as the title says, looking to buy $80 or so worth of BTC or LTC this evening. Litecoin is probably better since the transfer cost is so much less. Will be sending from a balance so no wait times or headache. I know I'm new here but I'm a regular on r/cryptocurrency r/bitcoin and have many references if need be from all over reddit, ebay, etc. Escrow is fine too, just would like to get this done this evening or else I'll just buy from coinbase tomorrow.

Nobody is going to vouch for you from reddit, because there's no way to prove who you are.  And nobody here is going to trust a complete noob with a PayPal deal.  Nobody sane, that is.

Nah, I didn't have the funds in my BOA account so I went to my local branch to deposit and the ATM tells me it's not accepting cash deposits at this time. It being 7pm where I am, the bank is closed so looks like I have to wait until tomorrow unless able to find someone to do a swap online. I have references on reddit in a thread of buying and selling non-bitcoin related stuff so I figured that might help. But yeah you're absolutely right, after posting this thread I looked at a few other threads and the overall vibe I got was that it's probably not going to happen as a newbie.

For future reference though, how does a newbie get the first few refs then? If no one will deal with them from the get-go? I figured $80 is small enough someone might be willing to deal with me through an escrow or if I F&F'd the payment.

Noobs generally don't get a trust score unless it's negative,  because most noobs here are scammers if they try to rush into deals and are obviously farming trust.  It's something that takes time and having integrity.

Understandable. After browsing that thread I can see why no one wants to give any noobs with Paypal the time of day. I knew that using Paypal for BTC is against their TOS so I hadn't planned to plaster a giant note on there that says PAYMENT FOR BITCOIN lol, but I didn't know that F&F payments were reversible too. I figured if anyone would be assuming any risk - it'd be me!

A mod can just lock this up if need be then I can wait until tomorrow!

Not sure how that would work since when you buy things with paypal the seller has to ship to your address, so they'd be shipping it to me unless it's some sort of digital goods. But I also don't want to be left holding the bag for $80 worth of something random like a make up gift card, lol. All things considered I'll probably just wait until tomorrow when my bank opens and go through CB. Thanks though!
