I honestly don't think that the amount of the investment should affect what you invest in.

Sure, if you invest in an altcoin that's early on, you might see higher percentage gains, but you should really do the research and just invest in what interests you.

If you like btc, buy $50 of it; if you like eth, buy $50 of it.

That being said, XRP is really cheap right now and you could get a decent amount for $50. Some don't like how centralized it is, but I do think it will have pretty impressive growth in the future.

a great start when you start to intend to include your money is an investment space. but for the amount of money you put in, I do not think it's a good supporter to invest. The amount is too small, and arguably not worth the investment. If you had 50$ on your bank or fiat, you can bought bitcoins then keep as long term, Trust me it is are best way.

I think the amount should affect the investment, depending on the overall situation.

If you have very little to invest and wouldn't be hurt too much by losing it, it's more sensible to invest in something a little riskier with much higher upside potential than to go for a slow investment that will hardly throw off any return in absolute numbers.

Investing $50 in Bitcoin will at best yield $50 to 100 by next year. Investing the same amount in something like SONM could yield $200 to $600 in the same time frame.

Of course, the larger the investment the more important preservation of capital becomes and thus the stakes in safer assets should increase. Depending on the risk appetite people should also consider diversifying into stocks and savings accounts once they reach capital in the range of $500k to $1000k and upwards. Yeah when you start with low amount. You need to be patience to see the chance to earn profit with your low amount it's really hard to get big amount within short time.

The investment is $50, so I will suggest you to invest in top 20 altcoins in market cap. You have few options any how today and tomorrow all altcoins price will come low. For me that pretty much all depends on your willingness for risk. I mean, there is a huge amount of risk involved in cryptocurrency investments but there are different kinds of risks in coins. Take Bitcoin, one of the safest investments there is in crypto-land, while new coins at an extremely low price may have a higher risk, as the project is newer, not established or known yet. But the new penny coins are the ones I like the most as they have the potential to give you huge returns on investment in the future.

Actually for most exchanges it is required that you have bitcoins to be able to buy altcoins. So first step will be most probably with buying some bitcoins (satoschis). And then you can start monitoring the prices of different altcoins. Always make sure, you know, in what you are investing.

Use $10 to buy dogecoin. Some may say it's dead but it is still out there.

You can't start a business with that amount. Buy your meal and you will realize the amount is just for a meal.

But you can invest that with some coins cheaper than $0.50 each, but it would take a loooot of time for your money to turn into $1000. You'd rather buy a BTC and hold or maybe 2 NEOs for it.

Btc is the best choice in terms of stability, it's true. Yet with your investment some there isn't much potential with btc. If it grows up to $6k and that never happened yet, you will simply get like $25 more. That's why I think you should invest in an alt short term. I would recommend dogecoin, which now has the price twice as small as it used to have during a rather stable period of time. Fifty dollars is a very small amount to invest with in cryptocurrency.  For sure if you do decide to invest in something.  Invest in a coin that is in the cents.  It's not worth it owning something like Ethereum when you will only get around 1/5 of a ETH.  Your profits will be very minimal. 

Maybe you should start with bitcoin! If you have already bought bitcoin and want to buy an altcoin, you should have a look at Aventus or Waves. Both are good long term investments!

Well, I will just repeat the obvious and reiterate that you most absolutely cannot start any kind of business with $50. I don't even think you could setup a lemonade stand with that amount of money.

If it were me, and I was only willing to invest $50. I would use the "go big or go home" method. I mean seriously -- I spend $50 on stupid shit pretty much every other day.

Buy something that is super cheap now that has great potential to grow by 100% or more. Sure you could invest in ETH or BTC or LTC and absolutely make "some" money off of it in the near future. But if you invest in a younger project that takes off, you could turn that $50 into $500 within 6 months if you choose the right project. If you don't choose the right project, well then you're out $50. Which isn't a bad thing -- I spend $50 to go to the movies all the time and sometimes the movie sucks. That would be your result if you pick the wrong coin -- it will suck; but at least you got some experience.  ;D

That being said, FLO is super cheap right now -- and with the Alexandria.io project right around the corner, you could most certainly double or triple that $50 by the end of the year with it. And if not, well then just pretend if was all a crappy movie.  ;)

With so small amount you can go to RDD find when it has low value, buy and sell for a price 1 point higher multiple times (10 times and you will be 20-40% more) :P Or wait for it to be 0.00000026, buy and wait. Soon you can double. Then split it to multiple FLO is good, SYS is good, XVG is good, also INFX seems to be nice. Choose one. Hold it for longer time or cut at 10% profit and move on to another.
I've started with $200 in two weeks I got $4000. But it needs a lot of patience and force you to be full time watching. When you will get bigger amount - then true fun begins.

With $50 you better go and buy yourself something. Even if you manage to make it 10x (which is a huge success - iWarren Buffet needed 15 years to do 10x), it's still $500 which is almost nothing in terms of real life expences.

You could try to invest on ICO or swap your money to coin through exchanges. Just make sure to read all the updates about coin you would like to invest and see the price progression to make sure you're doing on the right time. 50 USD isn't much, you only get around 0.0125+ BTC take cheap coins yet strong and hold them for a month.

Exactly. Wouldn't even bother with bounty campaigns. Get to work, save and invest that money (probably safest in BTC-ETH). You'll make more per hour working than on bounties. In your spare time you can read up on crypto and learn more, and maybe start investing into some other coins...

Depends on your situation. If you're not capable of easily scoring a 60-100k+ job bounty campaigns could actually better if you consider the post-tax breakdown. Hunting bounties is also independant of a strict work environment, meaning that you can work whenever you feel like it. You can also do both at the same time if you want to work really hard for some time to quickly reach a certain net worth.

since OP is willing to risk that $50 and after all is just $50. you might want to just keep trading it with BTC/USD, this at least you know when to buy and sell when the price is right. you gamble with altcoin investment, then might as well do this for there ain't assurance to altcoins unless you stick to those on top of the coincap which $50 isn't enough.

For your $50 is a good advice if you will try to go with ICO coins. You can have some discounts and its cheaper if the project goes well and put in any exchanges that would be a profit for you. It's true, if have the guts to take a higher risk. So investment in ICO very possible to give high returns as well. However, i am more interested to investing in Waves that are now classified as cheap.

If I were holding 50 dollars then I would have buy some bitcoins from it. I have seen that the prices have started to rise up once again and this is the right time to make a good investment. Though the amount I will be able to buy won't be a great one but it will give huge profits within next months. This is not a good advice. Your 50$ will earn after some 3-6 months normally if you chose to invest that little amount in ICO. That is too long a duration for you because of your small investment. For me, it is best to invest it in pump and dump coins. If you want, investment in a coin that is going to be joining a big partnership or announcing a big update is also a good move.

But with 50 dollars you cannot ask for much, you can invest your money or your time, since he has almost no money then he needs to invest more of his time and if that means that he needs to hold for months to see great profits that is fine, anyone thinking they are going to convert 50 dollars in millions in a matter of weeks is just daydreaming and nothing else.

Maybe you should start with some safer coins like Bitcoin or Ethereum. These two are one of the most stable high cap coins. If you want to make some fast profit you should try some low cap coins. But you have more risk that some coins will die :P

With that amount of money you have, I would recommend that you consider investing in komodo, its a great altcoin and it is still affordable,  with $50 you might be able to get quite a few and hold them for at least one year or more, you will thank me later.

Komodo has good technology, don't forget that its not just only a coin, but a platform as well. Investing would be a great move. Already some alts are already using komodo platform, which is good for the coin itself.

Go to sites that shows cryptocurrencies rate and observe every cryptocurrency. Decide wether you will invest that amount on a certain cryptocurrency, make a wise decision for you to earn a higher profit. If you earn profits, try to invest on other cryptocurrency. I cannot suggest a cryptocurrency for you to invest on that amount because you should decide your own and, do your own analyzation and observation.

Since you are a newbie and barely know anything about the crypto world yet, why don't you just invest in the basic and most popular cryptocoin which is Bitcoin and from there or while waiting for your profits, find time to read other cryptocurrencies that are listed in the coinmarketcap.com site so you can appreciate and value these coins and not just hyped because everyone are into the cryptoworld.

For now, you have just to read all over the forum to know the rules and regulation about joining a campaign and to gain knowledge about cryptocurrency besides of that some other option like trading, mining and other services offered to earn some bitcoins. SONM is a good investment, I do not know if it is going to pump that much but it is definitely one of the coins I’m watching, and this is in fact my point, 50 dollars is not a lot of money so you might as well make a gamble and invest all of it in a single coin, if SONM gets the results you are predicting then he will be left with a bigger and more significant amount of capital to invest in other projects.

Deeponion only grows because a bunch of people getting free bags and growing them. As soon as the dumping starts they will loos ALOT value in my opinion. So no use to invest in them with 50$ when others get 600$ for free every week.

I think short term for a cheap coin EMC2 (Einstieneum) has a good shot of making you 30 to 40%. Only a short term thing though. For longer term I like NEO or EOS

I was going to ask you why waste your time looking for alts when you can just keep holding the little you have now in your BTC wallet while you can join bounty campaigns and be a part of the ICOs of some of the projects and watch out as they grow in the market at the long run, then I read through the thread to see you are a very smart newbie. ;D At least with this you have so much to gain and nothing to lose.

UNIFY is a project that still remains relatively in the dark, but has a lot of potencial. Check it. Commited community growing everyday with very active devs and attached to the roadmap. Small number of coins (around 17 mill). Staking coin. Very good price at the moment. Taking attention from a lot of old bitcointalk members. I think you can double your investment untill end 2017. And x10 during 2018.

The problem with that is that he is a newbie, and since his rank is that low then I do not think he is going to even be accepted in most bounties campaigns and even if he does he is going to put a lot effort and he is not going to get many altcoins doing that, so I still think his best choice is to invest all his money in a single alt and see if he happens to invest in the right coin.

Go on coinmarketcap, search for under 5mio mc coin, check some of them , their webpage, community, development. Invest and forget for 2 years and hope for the best😁

That's probably one of the better approaches with only $50 to spare, since the amount is too small to make any significant profits on safe investments. So picking some very promising high risk assets and just forgetting about them seems like the more sensible way to go about it. And if it fails it was only $50.

This is probably the only approach left, if we were talking about investing those 50 dollars in the past, that will still not be a lot of money but you could have invested in some of the most solid coins today at very cheap prices, now you cannot do that, you need to roll the dice and take a risk with cheap altcoins or with icos, however if you are able to hit the right coin the profits you can get are very good.

But i can give one suggestion, if you have only $50 i suggest you to join in ico. Because if we are lucky, we can get 100x in price.

It's hard to choose the best 1, but you can risk a bit with this amount of $, and choose sth undervalued with low marketcap atm, maybe it'll moon someday
