Title: New investor...Bought into market recently when bitcoin was $4600
Post by: WhattaCOINcidence on September 14, 2017, 07:15:01 PM
This sucks. Did not see all this big bank propaganda coming, and when you mix it in with the chinese tyrannical govt its a recipe for disaster. I didnt buy for alot but im just glad i diversified my investment into other coins as well. Hoping things turn around. As you guys say... HODL!

Professionals buy into dips, it is called cost averaging

Of course it won't work if asset goes to zero  ;)

I guess you don't have much of a choice now  :-\ Good you did some diversification.
You shouldn't be worried to much tho, "hodl" as you adequately put, heck even forget about those coins for some serious amount of time. This will balance itself out at some point, we have been through worse.
When you top out on altcoins, consider buying more cheap btc? I would do just that, in fact I'm actually planing to do so. Stay cool, calculate and dont act on emotions, those are for women  ;)

Since the price was decrease more and some feel losing especially tho those who buy at your stated value, then just continue to face the risk since after all, they do HODL until now. Look for long term and after all this correction ends, Im seeing again another journey to the moon.

No way I will sold my coins in a downtrend. We have reasons to believe that things will turn around. HODL.

Try to hold yourself and don't sell now. Wait for the profit  ;D

In addition to holding your recently bought coins, you could seize the oppertunity to buy a bit more BTC as the price is now lower. Your average buying price gets a little bit lowered that way. Chances are very high prices will go up again in the (near) future, but prepare to wait months for this to happen. Cutting losses (selling beneath average buying value) at some point probably isn't the best thing to do.

yes the situation now is very annoying with the price of bitcoin which dropped drastically and also followed by the price of some coin coin altcoin, but from the other side this is not all bad, for some people who want to buy bitcoin this is the most appropriate time with the current cheap price we can take advantage of the situation, so I think it's still hold and go to start buying bitcoin to invest.

We really can't help on this situation but to say and pursue people to hold. Holding has two result as it will lessen the supply in the market and in the end when people started to be good at the final price of bitcoin at dip, they will now buy and it's good for everyone that has been holding all of the time because we can have the profit again back at higher rate.

I'd rather only hodl BTC in such a situation, alts just crash harder when BTC crashes. Aside from some onions and BCCs I'm full BTC and hodlin.

Just a quick sidenote... you mention that you diversified by buying altcoins. That is not diversification.

As far as investment portfolios are concerned, all coins come under the same line, "crypto". Sure, there is some variance, but it's irrelevant.
Don't trick yourself into thinking you have a diversified portfolio when it's bitcoin and other coins.

Mostly, altcoins are only really good for speculative/day trading.

The crypto market will have to wait for releases of improved decentralized exchange software, to eliminate the need of current exchanges and reduce reliance on Chinese exchanges.

Professionals or investor always take a risk because their mindset is they will get a high profit. They need to wait until they get a high profit.

What did that one rich shoeshine boy say way back in the day?  Was it, "Buy low, sell high?"  When it recovers, it will recover fast I believe--> of course, they're will be those who are just waiting for a bit of a recovery for their opportunity to get out and run ---> and, that's when the secondary altcoin markets will start recovering too.  Doesn't that happen every time?

The pit god has 2 rules. You can sell the top tick once. You can buy the bottom tick once.
You can do the opposite as often as you like.

Its best at times like this not to look at the market. Once the price dips on your buy in, just turn off the pc and relax. Bitcoin will recover, and in a while there will be another post like where the buyer buys in before a dip worried about the investment. I have seen this so many times already.

We are seeing now some bad news, some added FUD to the news, and some nervous hands selling... All this happening at the time a price correction was indicated on the charts.

HODL on everyone. You're 100% correct Bitcoin will recover. It is a deflationary currency and it's supply is limited and a lottt of people are buying in. Don't pay attention to MSM!

At this time, HODL is the perfect answer for it.
There's a few alts that did not affected by bitcoin price, you could try it to reduce your loss,
and maybe buy btc on a cheaper price than you've bought before.

Not to kick you while you're down, but now is a great price to buy. The whales have dumped, and people are panicking. There will always be a way around China's restrictions, just like their firewall. Their miners are still active and thriving, who can sell bitcoin overseas. Buy bitcoin now and keep holding, and it will make back your losses much quicker.

Buying into dips is NOT cost averaging.

Cost averaging is when you buy an investment at fixed price on a schedule.

Ex. Every week you buy $100 worth of bitcoin no matter what the price of bitcoin is.
